And I must add;
If it was a willful sin, that could be another issue altogether where the true conversion can be permanently damaged to the point of being unsaveable in the end where repentance is impossible (Hebrews 6:4).
In 1 John 3:9, he is not referring to random sins or even willful sins committed by man.
He is referring to "practicing sin."
It actually reads, "Whosoever is born of God does not "practice sin," for his seed remains in him, and he cannot "practice sin", because he is born of God."
We are fallen man even though we are saved, we will sin from time to time. But we have no excuse to practice the same sin over and over again. The repugnancy of sin in the believers heart will not allow it.
If the heart is right with God, habitual sin will come to an end, but this also takes time and varies in each believer.
I apologized because I entered here knowing full well that it was a dragon's den... LOLWhy would you apologize for posting in an open forum? Share your views, they are welcome
It truly is...I apologized because I entered here knowing full well that it was a dragon's den... LOL
All is great how about yourself?
What a person thinks about whether or not the true believer can stop believing is not a salvation issue.
That verse is for the person who is continuing in his trust in Christ but who is weak. Vs. 12 is for the person who has left the Lord in unbelief.
If one believes not in Him , this does not mean HE does not exist . He abides in heaven whether one believes in HIM or not .2 Timothy 2:13
If we are unfaithful,
he remains faithful,
for he cannot deny who he is.
It is a factor . Look at what GOD told the churches . Lets look closely at the church of ephesus .The sins that I will have committed five minutes from now, will be in the past five minutes and 1 second from now.
So then, the fact that past sins are forgiven means that future sins are forgiven.
Of course, 1 John 1:9 just might be a factor.
That is more accurately translated as "the sevenfold Spirit of God", in order to avoid contradiction (and also the original Greek bears it out)...for there is one Spirit (Ephesians 4:4).
Lol, I feel ya! But hope you continue to share your belief, inspite of the attacks you are bound to experienceI apologized because I entered here knowing full well that it was a dragon's den... LOL
We must believe , we must have faith that JESUS alone is why we are saved . The work of GOD is to BELIEVE in HIMYou are again teaching that Faith is the savior.
Thats not true.
Get off that deceit.
Instead recognize that the BLOOD Of Jesus, and NOT FAITH, is what keeps you saved.
Wake up.
We have far to many modern day pharisees here still, ...they still think their righteousness is pleasing, even though God calls them filthy rags
Amen to this, Praise God for all we have.Great here too!
The Lord has given me more than I deserve! Praise God!
I think the Bible says we are saved by grace, so I agreeYou are again teaching that Faith is the savior.
Thats not true.

Filthy rags are those who are trying to get to heaven by their works.Filthy rags are the righteous acts of a man who does not believe in Christ.
For Paul tells us to:
Romans 6:13
...yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
Surely Paul is not telling us to produce filthy rags with our members.
But:
1 John 2:29
If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.
If someone commits a willful sin, it is because they are not saved. Haven't we established that? So there would be no "true conversion" that can be damaged.
Okay, so that means that I can go ahead and commit the sin that the devil is tempting me to commit in this present moment...because it is just this one time...and therefore I am not practicing it.
See how that works?
The devil will get advantage of you that way.
It may take 20 years of committing the same sin once every three weeks before you realize that you have been "practicing" it all along.
The one who is born of God will not even commit that sin (not even one time)...as this is the situation of those who have been truly delivered / set free.
Been there... done that... I don't argue doctrine anymore. But thanks for the offer.Lol, I feel ya! But hope you continue to share your belief, inspite of the attacks you are bound to experience
It’s like when God asks a person why he should let them in, and they hand him their works.
