Then we are back to the original question for clarification. Have you repented? And if so, then you no longer sin?
Yes, the Bible does not define repentance of sin as perfectly sinless.
Repentance is not a one time event.
I ask God to forgive me of my sins daily because there are sins of ignorance and I need Gods forgiveness.
It's a matter of the heart Mark.
Do you desire to put sin behind you or do you live in your sins?
Did the harlots continue in prostitution?
Did the publicans continue in stealing?
Repentance is a heart issue.
You don't sin if you repent, but everyone sins from time to time. So then you have some kind of scale of how many sins is OK or something like that
No all sin seperates us from God,
Isaiah 59:2,
- it's your sins that have cut you off from God because of your sins he has turned away and will not listen
God excepts us to strive every day to not sin.
God knows we are imperfect and will fail to be perfectly sinless.
Thus the reason all need a Savior.
I'm saying a man that has made the choice to repent does so with the intention to cease his sin.
There are people who dont understand repentance.
They think they can continue in sin just pray for God to forgive them but have no intention of stopping.
These people do not understand what repentance is.
It's a matter of the heart.
The saved do sin in moments of weakness.
God tells the saved to confess and pray for forgiveness,
1 John 1:9
- but if we confess our sins to God He is faithfull and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness
Does that mean we can continue practicing those sins?
No, we must strive to overcome the areas where we are weak.
Even those who repent by confessing our sins to God sin sometimes,
1John 1:10,
- if we claim we have not sinned we make God a liar and His word is not in us
2Peter 3:18,
- but
grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to Him be the glory both now and forever, amen
God teaches us that we are to mature become more godly more like Christ as we live for Christ.
Can you be like Christ if you live in sin?
1 Corinthians 11:1,
- imitate me, just as I imitate Christ
Repentance of sins is Biblical
