Antiochus was not time of the end. Antiochus did not commit the transgression of desolation.
The little horn person is also in Daniel 7. The time, times, half time of wearing down the saints in Daniel 7:25 corresponds to the time, times, half time of scattering the power of the holy people in Daniel 12:7. To happen at the time of the end, Daniel 12:9.
Daniel 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
Daniel 12:7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.
The first time became the type of the last time. Two overlapping circles. One circle = 2nd century BC. The other circle = return of Christ. Daniel 12:7
overlaps with Revelation 10:4-7.
The 1,290 and 1,335 days mentioned in Daniel 12:11-12
are linked to (a) the taking away of daily sacrifices for sin by an Antichrist figure; and (b) the appearance of an abomination of desolation in the holy place, but any reintroduction of (or the 1st century continuation of) daily sacrifices for sin in a man-made temple following the death and resurrection of Christ (He who is God's own once-for-all sacrifice for sins), should be considered the actions of antichrists which any future Antichrist would hardly want to stamp out.
Daniel 7:25
(regarding the 4th 'beast')
And he shall speak words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High, and plot to change times and laws. And they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and one-half time.
The beast of Revelation 13:2-7
And the beast which I saw was like a leopard, and its feet like those of a bear, and its mouth like the mouth of a lion. And the dragon gave him its power and its seat and great authority. And I saw one of its heads as having been slain to death, and its deadly wound was healed. And all the earth marveled after the beast.
And a mouth speaking great things was given to it, and blasphemies. And authority was given to it to continue forty-two months.
And it opened its mouth in blasphemy toward God, to blaspheme His name and His tabernacle, and those dwelling in Heaven.
And it was given to it to war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given to it over every tribe and tongue and nation.
Type
Antiochus IV, "Epiphanes"
Daniel 11
36 And the king shall do according to his will. And he shall exalt and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvelous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper until the fury is fulfilled. For that which is decreed shall be done.
37 He will not regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god. For he shall magnify himself above all.
Anti-type
The man of sin
2 Thessalonians 2
3 Let not anyone deceive you by any means. For that Day shall not come unless there first comes a falling away, and the man of sin shall be revealed, the son of perdition, *
4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, setting himself forth, that he is God.
Type: Antiochus IV ("Antichrist" figure)
← 4th beast → Anti-type: Man of sin ("Antichrist")
Daniel 8:11; Daniel 11:31; Daniel 12:11
← 4th beast → Matthew 24:15; 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4; Revelation 13:2; Revelation 17:8, 11; Revelation 13:11-18.
4th beast
Daniel 11:36-37 ↔ Daniel 7:25 ↔ Revelation 13:5-7
Daniel 12:7 ↔ Revelation 10:5-7
In Daniel Chapter 12, the final 3.5 years is mentioned. In Revelation Chapter 10 the final 3.5 years has now passed, and the 7th trumpet is about to sound.
PROPHECY FULFILLED / NOT FULFILLED
Daniel 7:26-27
"But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his rulership (done by the Maccabees), to cut off and to destroy until the end. And the kingdom and rulership, and the greatness of the kingdom under all the heavens, shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom."
(The kingdom of God in Judea was given to the saints of the Most High after Antiochus IV was ousted)
"And all kingdoms shall serve and obey Him." - still not fulfilled in the way described.
The scattering of the power of the holy people and only the wise understanding applied just as much to the faithful Jewish remnant during the days of Antiochus IV (the type) as it will (still future tense) to the faithful remnant in Christ (the antitype).
Daniel 12
"And at that time Michael shall stand up, the great ruler who stands for the sons of your people" (God helping the Maccabees, and God helping the saints when Christ returns in judgment of the beast).
"And there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation; until that time" (indeed the time of Antiochus IV was such a time,
and the end of the Age before the return of Christ will be such a time - Matthew 24:21).
"And at that time your people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book" (the faithful Jewish remnant were delivered from the hand of Antiochus IV, and the faithful saints will be delivered when Jesus returns).
The verse below is also true of the time of Antiochus IV, and will be true at the end of the Age before the return of Jesus:
"And those who are wise shall shine as the brightness of the sky; and those who turn many to righteousness shall shine as the stars forever and ever."
8-9 And I heard, but I did not understand. Then I said, O my lord, what shall be the end of these things? And He said, Go, Daniel! For the words are closed up and sealed until the end-time.
10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried. But the wicked shall do wickedly. And none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand. (happened during the time of Antiochus IV also).
- but the verse below was
not fulfilled when Antiochus IV was defeated by the Maccabees:
2 And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
It's projecting forward in time to the final kingdom of the beast of the Revelation,
and vice-versa, making the beast that existed in the latter days of the Greek kingdoms a type of the final kingdom:
Revelation 17:8
"The beast that you saw
was, and is not, and is about to
ascend out of the abyss and go into perdition. And those dwelling on the earth will marvel, those whose names were not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is."
