If water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ was not for the remission of sins, and it was only for obedience, was it just a test of obedience?
A sacrament. There is nothing wrong with ritual and tradition. They ground us in the familiar and experience shared, thereby culturally binding us together.

However, it is the person of YHWH’s son that saves us. This explains why Jesus did not say the rituals or sacraments are the truth, the life and the way.

Sure, some invest mystical significance in the sacraments. Doesn’t seem that many here at CyB do.

Again everyone Jesus died for, He purged their sins away. Also thats why Jesus told Peter that Cornelius was clean by God Acts 10:15

15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

That word cleansed is the same word purge in Heb 1:3, Cornelius was already saved/justified, way before he was water baptized.

Scripture calls Cornelius a Justified man way before he was water baptized Acts 10:22

And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.

This is what the Word of God says about the Just,

Prov 3 33

The curse of the Lord is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.

Prov 4 18

But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

Prov 10 6

Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
So everyone on earth is clean already?

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

Ephesians was written to the CHURCH(saints) of Ephesus, which had previously obeyed water baptism in the name of Jesus for the remission of sins.

I think you need this video I made about now...

And... if they do not continue in His goodness they will be cut off meaning people that turn away from the Lord are no longer saved.,

2 Peter 2:20
For if after they have escaped the pollution of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

Romans 11:21,22
For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

James 1:22
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

And we see in the warnings the Lord gives in His Word... it's entirely possible for one to fall away and not be saved in the end after having been saved at one time.

the devil is the one that loves to tell people we can ignore what the Lord says and pick and choose just the happy verses so they can falsely feel good about themselves as they continue in their sin

This is how the devil tricks all these preachers in to teaching that all our future sins are already forgiven which is false and this turns the grace of the Lord in to lawlessness.

Titus 2:11,12
For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

Jude 1:4
For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Too bad Jesus did not say that specifically.
There is baptism in the Spirit and there is water baptism which are two different things.

Now we do see in the Book of Acts where the Holy Ghost leads the saints to water baptize those that have already been born again... but the point in which one is born again is before they ever get dunked in the water.

If they have not become born again believers first, dunking them in the water is a waste of time

Exactly!

So you believe Jesus lied to the thief on the cross who believe and had no opportunity to be baptized?

Jesus told the guy he would be with Jesus in paradise and he was not water baptized.

Some COC peoples think this was the only lie Jesus ever told anybody.

But then the COC people believe the Holy Spirit does not lead people in their personal lives either which is false.
The Holy Spirit is not leading them in their personal live because they reject His leading, but the Holy Spirit is leading those that accept the Holy Spirit.

Romans 8:14
For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God
So, if you think Mark 16:16 is only about faith then you think it says this....

"He that believeth and is saved shall not need baptism".

Huh, where you get that from ?
Your last post was seemingly leaning that direction.
You do realize the only way to be clean is to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. Right?

Causing a clean conscience before God.

If you have not been baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins, you are not allowed to be reading or applying from Romans to the book of Revelation. Those are the epistles for those specific people. You can’t skip being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins and read someone else’s mail.

False, You preaching the false Gospel of legalism, Christ cleaned His People by the word He spoke to them Jn 15:3

Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

Jn 13:10

10 Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.

They were clean from guilt and sin, and not by anything they did

Heb 1:3

Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high

So Peter should have worded it according to modern teachers like this?…
Then Peter said to them repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins though you’ve actually had your sins remitted so I kinda don’t know what I’m talking about, but you can also receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, though you already have it… Lol.

Peter worded it just fine, its your corruption of the text which is the problem. Peter was following Jesus commission to him, to feed His Sheep Jn 21:16-17

He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

The Sheep are already forgiven in Christs Name
Lk 24:47
47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

The Lord God does the sprinkling that cleanses a man. Prophetic word here about the Israel of God is the future Christ's church made of both Jew and Gentile.
If it was just for the unbelieving Jews, then the prophecy has not been fulfilled, although it could be partially fulfilled, yet the people were brought back from the nations long ago already from the first scattering among the nations and have not been cleansed of their sins yet as few believed among the Jews in Christ. But the Israel born from above has been cleansed of it's sin, and this is the church alone. As does Peter also refer to the church as a holy nation.

Galatians 6

14 But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ,
by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation.
16 And as many as walk according to this rule,
peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God.

1 Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

Hebrews 8, this tells us the genuine Israel of God is the New Covenanted church in Christ.

A New Covenant, the Old Covenant has passed away.

7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second. 8 Because finding fault with them, He says: “Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah— 9 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they did not continue in My covenant, and I disregarded them, says the Lord. 10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 11 None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them. 12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins [b]and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”

13 In that He says, “A new covenant,” He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.

Ezekiel, The Renewal of Israel

16 Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying: 17 “Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their own ways and deeds; to Me their way was like the uncleanness of a woman in her customary impurity. 18 Therefore I poured out My fury on them for the blood they had shed on the land, and for their idols with which they had defiled it. 19 So I scattered them among the nations, and they were dispersed throughout the countries; I judged them according to their ways and their deeds. 20 When they came to the nations, wherever they went, they profaned My holy name—when they said of them, ‘These are the people of the Lord, and yet they have gone out of His land.’ 21 But I had concern for My holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations wherever they went.

22 “Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “I do not do this for your sake, O house of Israel, but for My holy name’s sake, which you have profaned among the nations wherever you went. 23 And I will sanctify My great name, which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned in their midst; and the nations shall know that I am the Lord,” says the Lord God, “when I am hallowed in you before their eyes. 24 For I will take you from among the nations, gather you out of all countries, and bring you into your own land.

25 Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols.

26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

27
I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.

28 Then you shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; you shall be My people, and I will be your God.

29 I will deliver you from all your uncleannesses.

I will call for the grain and multiply it, and bring no famine upon you. 30 And I will multiply the fruit of your trees and the increase of your fields, so that you need never again bear the reproach of famine among the nations. 31 Then you will remember your evil ways and your deeds that were not good; and you will [e]loathe yourselves in your own sight, for your iniquities and your abominations. 32 Not for your sake do I do this,” says the Lord God, “let it be known to you. Be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel!”

33 ‘Thus says the Lord God: “On the day that I cleanse you from all your iniquities, I will also enable you to dwell in the cities, and the ruins shall be rebuilt. 34 The desolate land shall be tilled instead of lying desolate in the sight of all who pass by. 35 So they will say, ‘This land that was desolate has become like the garden of Eden; and the wasted, desolate, and ruined cities are now fortified and inhabited.’ 36 Then the nations which are left all around you shall know that I, the Lord, have rebuilt the ruined places and planted what was desolate. I, the Lord, have spoken it, and I will do it.

37 ‘Thus says the Lord God: “I will also let the house of Israel inquire of Me to do this for them: I will increase their men like a flock. 38 Like a [f]flock offered as holy sacrifices, like the flock at Jerusalem on its [g]feast days, so shall the ruined cities be filled with flocks of men. Then they shall know that I am the Lord.” ’ ”

You are indeed saying that Peters command per Acts 2:38 is legalism. You are totally messed up.
This legalism baloney that people made up in modern days is designed to destroy the plan of salvation. Nice job.

No, baptism in the book of Acts was for the regeneration(burial) process. It was not for the pre-saved Saints. It was for the remission of sins. You guys are worse than Catholics.
