At the end of the day the final arbiter is the Holy Spirit granting understanding to the reader so it comes back to the relationship between the reader and Our Father who reveals Truth by His Spirit.

It is folly to believe in a perfect text or a perfect translation.

We know Jesus quoted from the Septuagint in the Greek - It is therefore valid to refer back to the text He quoted from to improve our understanding. The Greek language carried meaning beyond the ability of English.

It makes no sense for Yeshua to speak Greek to the Jews. Actually, Aramaic was the language in the area.

I should not be surprised by those who announce how those of us who have studied the origin of the New Testament books and the manipulation by copyists and scribes are accused of having evil intent. Those announcement hold no water for the history is out there to see. If there was ever a reason to study complete the available information and pray for spiritual guidance, now is the time.

I also know that there are lazy people who simply want to be told what to believe - and that is not from God Himself.

There is truth out there, but it must be wanted. It does not come from Sunday School, sermons, or commentaries specifically. It comes from our studies and by sincere requests to God for "the truth." If we fail to listen to all views and dive into scriptural studies, we will not "know" the truth. We will simply accept someone else's statements as "truth." At that point, we are not "bible believers." We are parrots.

Jesus was fluent in Aramaic. Why do you avoid the Peshitta?
