"The word of God endures forever".. Thats the Bible. And it'll be here leading people to the Saving Grace of God, with its words, by the power of the HOLY Spirit.... long after self righteous people who deny it, abuse it, ignore it, judge it, castigate it, are no longer here.

Paul says in Phil 2, that the scriptures are the "word of LIFE".

Heb 4:12 says the "word of God is ALIVE", and that is the BIBLE., and it is a living book that contains the living words of the Living God.

And one more..

The Gospel..........this is words.....spoken, that when believed, become this..

"The power of God, unto Salvation".

"The Word of God endures forever" IS MUCH MORE THAN THE BIBLE.

Yes - the Bible bears witness to the Word, but is not the totality of what is endlessly proceeding from His Throne.

When there is silence in heaven for half an hour, folks will not be quietly reading their bibles, they will be awestruck at His Divine Word proceeding from His Throne.

What is on His Throne is a Person, not a book.

This does not discredit the gift of scripture in any way - the bible is a critical resource and contains all the essential Truths we all need to know - but His Living Word is a different matter altogether - at the Name of Jesus every knee will bow in heaven and on earth.

In your encounters with God, have you never had a glimpse of this?

Scripture testifies of this.

"Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them....

“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.” (Galatians 1:8, KJV)

So then, The gospel truth being preserved in the Holy Bible today; what if an Angel came to you as the Living Word preaching a different gospel to you???

Would you accept this Living Word over the Holy Bible?

Yes - the Bible bears witness to the Word,

The Bible is the word from Heaven.
Its not just a book.
Its the word of God... . and this is more than letters on a page., and that is why Paul teaches that "the word of God (bible) has to be spiritually discerned".

Reader let me show you some : "connect the dots".

"In the Beginning was the Word"

"And the Word was made flesh, (Virgin Born) and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."... (Glory is heaven)

And.Notice this...

"God SAID.... let there be". HE SPOKE WORDS of CREATION...... and Jesus is the "Word of God".. who Became Flesh".

This is why John 1:10 says that JESUS "made the world".

The Bible is spiritual Light on every page. Its God's word, its alive".

Read the verses below, and ...Notice what it can do.. to YOU.. and does.. and that is the BIBLE doing that.. .because its the Spirit of God doing it.
Reader, you think you are reading the Bible, but what is happening, is that the BIBLE is READING YOU....
It looks inside you, it reveals you., it knows what you are, and why you are what you are....

""""""For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart."""

New Living Translation
For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

English Standard Version
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Berean Literal Bible
For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating even as far as the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrows, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

King James Bible
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Amplified Bible
For the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Fair enough :)

.

When Jesus dealt with Satan, He quoted the Torah.

He should have, as He wrote it. (they just wrote it down).

This is the "Word became flesh" quoting "the word of God", against the Devil's Temptations.

So should we.

Reader, if you find yourself in a hard place.......like an ER, at 3am, and its your mother, child, brother... and they are seriously hurt.
Then dont beg God.
You dont have to Beg your Father for Help.
Would you child have to beg you, if you were the ONE who could help ?

God is wanting to help., and we get Him involved by FAITH and by using the words found in the word of God as our BENEFIT and our SWORD and our ammunition.
Fight the hard times, the temptations, the unexpected tragedy, not with fear, but with scripture.

"the FIGHT is the LORDS". "the Battle is the Lords" and Life is a battle ground, quite often.

Use the word of God, as your prayer warrior shield., as Paul teaches that it will block, "quench" .. all the harm that the Devil is trying to put on you, or on the ones you love.

Fight His fire with God's word.....>Just like Jesus did it.

Get some verses, that do this and memorize them.. and use them.

Start here

"no weapon formed against me, shall Prosper"

"i am highly favored of The Lord"

"i am the righteousness of God, in Christ"/

You're confusing The Word (the first begotten of all creation) with the word (a colloquial name we use to refer to the Bible). They aren't the same thing. The latter talks about the former. But since it's a collection of books, it is insufficient to contain the entire contents of God's Mind.

And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen. (John 21:25)

Forgive me but this just comes across as equivocation, and seems definitely to be at variance with the distinction made between the word and the name of God in Psalm 138:2.

Im not confusing it.
You're just not able to believe it. (yet).

Here is a verse for you... from the "bible'.

"GOD.. exalts HIS word.. above HIS NAME"

See that lower case "w"ord. ??????? = that is not talking about Jesus the "W"ord......... that verse is talking about the scriptures.

"the Bible".

Moot point, it seems, since it is doubtful we were ever intended to know "the entire contents of God's mind." :)
We? How humanistic of you. I guess if you're saying it isn't about mankind, then that's true.

Nonetheless, differentiating between The Bible and The Creator IS what this topic is about. A fair point, I think.

Sorry, my mistake. I thought we were talking about that in the abstract sense, rather than outright idolatry.

So... you think that David, living in 1000 BC, was talking in Psalm 138 about the canon of Scripture that wasn't established til more than a milennia after his death?

How anachronistic.

I just don't know of anyone who claims to believe that Jesus and the Bible are exactly the same thing, or that they love the Bible more than Jesus. Maybe you do.

So... you think that David, living in 1000 BC, was talking in Psalm 138 about the canon of Scripture

There were no "catholics", in 970 bce..

But there was this..

"The word of the Lord came to ".... a Prophet

"the word of the Lord came to".... A Prophet

See that?
That is.. "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost."""

(Peter wrote that verse) @Wick Stick

Later this becomes..The Torah, and then the . "The Apostles Letters..

This is now finalized as "the Bible".

You don't think he saw the words of Moses as carrying more weight than others?

The idea that the Bible is an embodiment of Jesus (well... pre-incarnation version of Jesus) I've heard preached in church on 3 separate occasions.

Never heard anyone say they love the Bible more than Jesus. If you think the Bible IS Jesus, I'm not sure it makes sense to put one ahead of the other.

How strawman-like
Why is that a strawman?

You both cited Scripture written in the 10th century BC, in support of a canon that includes many books that were not even written at that time. That seems like an actual problem of chronology to me.
