I like eating bacon fat. You have to cook the bacon and pour the fat into a bowl. Then you can make a simple recipe of BBQ sauce with the sweat taste of bacon fat. It is really good. Add some garlic and your good. You have to use fresh garlic and squeeze the juices out into the BBQ sauce. You can use it for salmon or ribeye steak. Yum.

I got some unpasteurized milk from the Bakery. It's got a distinct taste that I remember from my childhood. My great grandfather used to milk the cows and we would have some of it. It has that same taste. Kinda interesting flavor. Cheers!

Had baked green bell peppers (that's capsicum for "Angie," :vgood: I guess) stuffed with lentils, potatoes, carrots, and onions, topped with leftover homemade tomahto and mushroom pasta sauce from the freezer for din-din. Forgot to get a picture, though. There's some left over so maybe I can make it look presentable enough for celluloid on the morrow. :Broadly:

I'm getting some New England Clam Chowder at the moment. So good tasting! Reminds me of my home, so peaceful and comforting to be near the water and enjoying some Clam Chowder.

I love soup and chowder! My wife is from Pennsylvania Dutch country and she told me about this Chicken Corn Chowder that I'd never heard of when we met in the Air Force in West Germany during the Cold War (the big one!). They didn't have it over there and she didn't know for sure how to make it, so I had to take her word for it. Once I tried it, though, I found it to be worth the wait!

We live about 20 miles or so from her home town these days and these people really do have a self-sufficient food supply. They make just about any staple food item you can find anywhere, except for the really exotic stuff. It's weird because we're just a 2-hour drive from NYC which is pretty much the antithesis of self-sufficiency.

In a slightly unrelated vein, she makes this smoky white bean soup that is really hard not to overeat. She uses some kind of smoked Romano cheese and Canellini beans. Of course, it's creamy, which made me think of it when you said clam chowder.

I can't recall which clam chowder is creamy—Manhattan or New England. It's been so long since I've had any. To be honest, I've only had the canned stuff and it's probably been 40 years or more.

I can't eat a lot of stuff I ate as a kid anymore. My health won't tolerate a lot of processed foods. When I want something that tastes like the sea I have to settle for seaweed - lol. :p

I just had a fruit smoothie (bananas, pear, apple, lemon, blueberries and celery with coconut milk and raw honey) with Vegemite and cheese on toast....and I toss down a hand full of vitamins....keeps me going.

How many people know that drinking coffee on an empty stomach in the morning can give you reflux at night? I didn't believe it until I switched over to tea instead.....no more reflux.
