The Law provokes sin in our flesh.Romans 7:5 KJV
[5] For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.
As I said earlier, the mosaic law didn’t bring me to Christ. I’d never even heard of them prior to knowing him. I’m not a Jew, was never commanded to be circumcised, ate a lot of bbq etc…Those laws he called a schoolmaster to lead us to christ. As they showed you fell short of his standard.
its not about observing them, its about the fact we could not observe them as God required.. perfectly.
What made you thin k you were a sinner?As I said earlier, the mosaic law didn’t bring me to Christ. I’d never even heard of them prior to knowing him. I’m not a Jew, was never commanded to be circumcised, ate a lot of bbq etc…
That's right, and in fact Paul said that the Law showed him what sin was, producing that much more in him.I don’t believe so, no one was ever reconciled to God through that law.
Amen brother, hence--Yes, his "own" righteousness was seen by him as so deficient it was nothing more than manure compared to the righteousness of God by faith.
You seem to have good reading comprehension skills. What are Paul’s examples here of the flesh?The Law provokes sin in our flesh.
Romans 8:7 KJV
Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
The fleshy mind wars with God, and cannot be subject to God's law. In fact, telling the flesh God's Law gives it a target for its rebellion.
Much love!
We don't justify ourselves.Having personally experienced up to Romans 8, I can say that the layout of Paul shows us that we shouldn't be stopping and justifying ourselves based on Romans 6. What do you say?
It wasn’t necessary to delete the other post. I wasn’t offended, I hear it all the time consider,, The most high God doesn’t write on stone tablets, that’s what Egyptians did at the time the tablets were written. Scripture says New testimony, if it is on the fleshly tables of the heart, then it is of God?Yes. Because the inside of your cup can be filthy while the outside looks clean to yourself and others.
So as to an outward keeping of the law, yes he was blameless.
But the law is not the letter for the outside. That leads to death. The law is the spirit for the inside.
Flesh isn't always regarding sinful things.You seem to have good reading comprehension skills. What are Paul’s examples here of the flesh?
Philippians 3:3-5 KJV
[3] For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. [4] Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: [5] Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;
Isn’t he saying his flesh is the performance of these things?
The law makes the flesh sin is how I read this you’ve said. So…the law is the reason for men sinning. I think that needs some tweaking…The Law provokes sin in our flesh.
Agreed, but in the context Paul was giving the flesh was observance of that old law.Flesh isn't always regarding sinful things.
Acts 2:30 KJV
Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
Just meaning, as relates to this body-life in the terrestrial realm. Adam's flesh was uncorrupted until he sinned.
According the the spirit, he is a child of God. According to the flesh, he is a child of Benjamin.
Much love!
Eze 11:17 Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.It wasn’t necessary to delete the other post. You’ve heard it said breech for breech?The law makes the flesh sin is how I read this you’ve said. So…the law is the reason for men sinning. I think that needs some tweaking…
I very much agree! Though still to say, it Does say that God wrote the commandments Himself on stone tablets.There something to be seen here!
Where I wrote, provokes, you put "makes", which is different. I think what's needed is some "untweaking".The law makes the flesh sin is how I read this you’ve said. So…the law is the reason for men sinning. I think that needs some tweaking…
What does this scripture say to you?Eze 11:17 Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.
Eze 11:18 And they shall come thither, and they shall take away all the detestable things thereof and all the abominations thereof from thence.
Eze 11:19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:
Eze 11:20 That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.
Eze 11:21 But as for them whose heart walketh after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations, I will recompense their way upon their own heads, saith the Lord GOD.
This is from YHVH--Thus sayeth YHVH
I believed, Jesus the image of the invisible God gave the true commands/law. Love God Love your neighbor. If this is practiced then all these offensive things above are destroyed.I very much agree! Though still to say, it Does say that God wrote the commandments Himself on stone tablets.
1 Timothy 1:7-11 KJV
7) Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.
8) But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;
9) Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
10) For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;
11) According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.
So knowing this, above, what should we say about ourselves if we are thinking we are under the Law?
Much love!
He’s saying, those who worship God in the new way of the spirit annd take no confidence in the flesh are the true circumcision, which is the cutting of the heart by God to make it tender towards him. So he isn’t saying his body Having circumcision is the performance of anything…Philippians 3:3-5 KJV
[3] For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. [4] Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: [5] Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;

There are at least four distinct purposes I see in the Law given at Sinai. Not nec. in this order, To give a means of coming to God, To show the nation separated from the others, To provide a mechanism to keep Israel from being destroyed in judgment until Christ came, and To demonstrate their need for mercy and grace.Those laws he called a schoolmaster to lead us to christ. As they showed you fell short of his standard.
its not about observing them, its about the fact we could not observe them as God required.. perfectly.
