With all due respect, you are making an idol out of the Bible. A holy book is not what separates Christianity from other religions.
No, I'm tenaciously holding fast to the Word of God. It is the last pure Truth left in this world and those who consider it less have nothing with which to stand upon. I am familiar with you and your beliefs from prior conversations, as well as reading many of your posts throughout the time I've frequented this site. Actually, you may be one of the very first people I ever noticed so passionately believing Jesus is not God; and, I would say, that's a huge problem for you in regards to your Faith in the Bible.
I hold the Bible in
very high regard; it is the Words of the Living God. Let's just look at some of the things the Bible expresses about the
power and authority of Scripture.
Jesus Himself says "It is the Spirit that quickens (gives Eternal Life); the flesh profits nothing:
the words that I speak unto, they are Spirit, and they are Life." (John 6:63) Peter then confirms this by saying "... Thou hast the words of Eternal Life." (John 6:68) (Mortal man doesn't speak
words that give Eternal Life.) God
spoke this world into existence. His
Words are powerful beyond our comprehension. That is what fills this sacred book of Life. The very Words of God Almighty.
Yes, the Word of God IS very much alive and very powerful. (Hebrews 4:12) And it is never enhanced by diminishing it to poetry. Poetry and literature are not at all the same thing as God's sacred Words. They may be labeled as non-fiction technically, but they are both not traditionally held as factual, historical, sacred text.
