You are not "right dividing" the word as Paul instructed.

Again...Paul was speaking about Old Testament issues of the law, and speaking...preaching to the unsaved Romans.

But I suspect that you will think that Paul himself was saved, making his counsel not about what he said, but what he himself was. But one could only draw that conclusion if they were blind to whom he spoke...and also to the fact that he qualified himself not as being saved or unsaved, but as being both, as being "all things to all people."

How many things do you intend to leave out, that you need to be told about? For the same reason Jesus had to ask the priests and the Pharisees, "Have you not read..?"

A direct statement, I don't know, however, "this is the new covenant in my blood", and when He poured out that blood, "it is finished".

Concerning the complete atonement through His death,

Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

Purchased with His Own blood. Reconciled by His death.

If one is actually saved, it is no longer they who live, but God who lives. Thus, it is no longer their [free] will, but God's. And it is not His will "that any should perish but that all should come to repentance."

I think I get this a lot better now than I used to.

It always comes to taking each word fully and seriously.

"The body is dead because of sin, but the spirit is life because of righteousness". No longer I, but Christ lives in me. Yes!

Another law in your members. The patterns of the Adamic man left in your flesh. That's the corruption of the flesh. So as the electricity of the mind courses through the neurons, it follows all the same old pathways it always did.

In rebirth we are new creations, living spirits, not fleshy men. We are alive because Jesus has come in, and His presence in us revives the dead spirit, and we come to live out from among the rest of the dead ones. That mind which is at war with, literally, our body parts, is not the mind resident in the flesh. We are new spirit beings who have been born from God. We have a new mind, the mind of Christ. And this mind does not function the same as the mind of the flesh. The mind of the flesh follows the neural pathways of the brain. The mind of the Spirit follows the Spirit.

When we are living in the mind of the Spirit, brain plasticity comes into play, re-writing our neural pathways. This is the renewing of the mind. Enforcing a new mental landscape based on Jesus, as revealed by the Holy Spirit in the pages of Scripture and in His working in our lives. Seeing what God does through us and in us transforms us into Him image. As He transforms us into Jesus' image, we see what that image is actually like.

The mind of the flesh sets the default state of mind resident in the body. As we follow the mind of Christ, examining our minds, our thoughts and feelings, and only allowing those that conform to Godliness, our brains begin to rewire the neural pathways according to that. So we improve our default state. We find fewer fleshy interuptions, because we've retooled in favor of Spirit.

We walk in the Spirit by faith in any case. That is always true, but in the renewing of the mind we find less conflict within us. But then of course God continues to test us, and as we grow stronger, the tests get harder, so, well, again, we always walk by faith and not sight.

I don't believe Peter had any "salvation" to lose. I don't believe in "salvation" as a condition or state of being, as it is used in evangelical circles today. I'm mainly concerned with knowing God Whom to know is life eternal, which always begins today, and really kicks into high gear at His second coming. This could be expressed in many other ways. The Bible is full of them. I really like the Bible. It testifies of Jesus, a Person I'm really crazy about. I'm pretty weird. I think most people (including myself) are influenced too much by the teachings of men. I'm trying to get out of that. I believe it's a lifetime process. I think Jesus loves us so much that if we're trying to do His will we will grow up into Him in all things and help others to grow, as well. The modern obsession with salvation causes a lot of distorted thinking, I've noticed. Oh well, I've probably said too much. :cool:
