You're doing it too. You're confusing recognizing and acknowledging sin with what you do to overcome that sin. Don't ever tell anybody to ignore their sin and just think happy Jesus thoughts.

Any Believer can “ Try” to ignore their sins —— God won’t allow it—- what kind of Loving Father would? All sinning hurts the Sinner and others....God will Chastise His Children for Sinning and He will do it for their own good.....just like we lovingly discipline our children.....they don't like it...they don’t understand it ...but it’s for their own good....

Those “ happy Jesus thoughts?” ..I’ll hang onto those , thank you very much.....it’s part of Knowing Him....May you truly “ know Him” someday....

The comment that sticks out the most to me... in the entire argument here is... I am better than the drunk down the street.
That is the biggest problem with legalism... I am thinking of my legalistic aunt as I write this.... she is FULL of self-righteousness
and pride... just like Ferris has displayed... I think it is the trademark of a legalist... and like I said earlier... that is the problem... that stinking thinking that misleads you to believe you are BETTER than.

I am so grateful... that I know my position in HIM... and I pray that I am daily able to abase myself to the best position of all which
is at the FEET of MY SAVIOUR.

It’s the difference between a guy like Ferris and a guy like me....” The proof is in the-pudding”——- I have a heart of compassion that aches for a poor soul caught up in sin and probably doomed unless he Turns to God for Mercy( Actual Saving Repentance) and becomes a New Creation....That would be the attitude of a True Christian.....A mere Religionist looks at these poor types and sneers ....Thank God That Jesus was not like this .....Jesus was a Friend to Sinners whose heart broke as he lamented that they would be Lost simply because “ They would not come to me”.....

Christians are supposed to “ be like Jesus” ......blinded by his foolish pride, the Religionist thinks that he is like Jesus.....Despite my many, many flaws—— you tell me—- who is the most “ Christ- Like” in this real life illustration....

You may well be a mature believer who is in right standing with God, but your rhetoric is poison for weak believers.

You should be mindful of the weak ones among us:

"For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols; And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died? But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ." (1 Corinthians 8:10-12)

Shall not the weak brother be emboldened to sin because of your hyperbole that perverts the gospel?

LOL.... you make me laugh.... but I am sad that you and Truman did not hit it off... He is my twin...you HAVE to like him... lol

I think he needs to get to know your style... It takes some digesting... HA

If YOU like him.....I am sure I will too.....must be some kind of misunderstanding on my part.....I’m so accustomed to having to Don my “ War Bonnet” to make a stand for Paul’s Gospel Of Pure Grace, it’s difficult sometimes to be more careful and take it off when I should....in the future I will be sure to read his posts more carefully....

Lol....you accuse ME of “ Perverting the Gospel” with Poison as you complain about Harshness.....do you detect the Irony on this?

One “ Perverts” The Gospel by ADDING to it.....have you actually “ read” Galatians ? I constantly declare “ NOTHING but the Blood Of Jesus”....... tell me, where do I Add to the Gospel to pervert it? Perverting the Gospel is a very specific thing.....you simply do not know what you are talking about.....once again—- READ Galatians !

It never ceases to amaze me how scriptures have no effect on some people. I mean, I post a scripture that directly contradicts a posters saying, and they just go on without being moved.

"Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition." (Mark 7:9)

I could just as easily make the same claim with my many foes here.....these types of posts are meaningless....

The majority of those who say they're christians use grace, as an excuse for sin.

A False observation going out the gate.....can anything of value Follow when the premise is so mistaken? Doubtful.....

But I have that abundant life, so what are you talking about?

You don’t REST in the Gospel Of Grace as God Commands In Hebrews...as a matter of fact , you Mock the Rest God Wants us to have......you CANT have the Abundant Life If you are a mere Religionist...You CAN’T Rest when you have the Fears Of Willful sin and Mandatory lucky repentance hovering Over you .....
you just think you have that Abundant Life, in my opinion...

When you actually BELIEVE that first part of the Gospel where it says “ Jesus died for your Sins” ......THEN you will be at true Peace and get a glimpse of the “ Abundant Life”.....

The point I'm getting at with Truman is my struggle isn't inside me. It's outside of me. I know what I want and love. The struggle, when it is a struggle (and it's less and less as the days go by) is living out the righteousness that I cherish and adore on the inside. The change I'm growing up into is not what needs to happen inside of me as much as it is what needs to happen day to day on the outside of me. 35 years in and the inner change seems to be very well along. Now it's just a matter of continually living on the outside what God has finished on the inside.

You don’t understand it at all.....if God is “ finished” on the Inside—- The outside will take care of itself....You are Trying instead of Trusting.....working when you should be resting....you have to live it....

Actually... what he is saying is that he is RESTING in the ASSURANCE of God's promises ...and well... since you just commented on his upcoming award for this prestigious position... you should not be surprised with this comment. LOL... Sorry... couldn't resist.

I find it very sad that the legalistic bunch... compare themselves to the likes of the drunk up the street for their measure of being good.... when in all reality... we need to be comparing ourselves to the measure of CHRIST... I think that would dramatically reduce the I'm so good attitude found in so many score keeping believers.... My little thoughts for the day. LOL

Brilliant post......no surprise.....

Even so my friend!

"Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted." Luke 18:10-14

NOBODY quotes theses verses to the extent that I do.....it shows the TRUE Repentance necessary for Salvation that many of the others here are always harping about—— erroneously thinking that the recipe for Salvation is Repenting Of SINS! If the Bible says “ repent of sins”, by all means— DO IT! If the Bible says “Repent Of Sins in order to be Saved—- do that too! Search the KJV—- it ain’t in there....find it and I’ll give you $ 1000.....( hint: don’t waste your time)

If you want to overcome sin by effort and determination, I want to overcome sin by being close to God.

Much love!

Love for God is the Engine that drives Obedience.....
One will never Love God until he Rests in the Gospel Of Grace.....COMPLETELY TRUSTING the Finished Work Of The Cross....

Love is the Key to EVERYTHING that matters in Christianity....it wasn’t just a coincidence that the #1 Law was to “ Love God with all of your heart , mind and soul.....”

There is much wisdom contained in the words, “Love God and live as you please” .....That sounds so scary and outlandish if you don't understand it. I understand it. Its True.

You are simultaneously contradicting your own theology and biblical theology a thousand different ways. You say no Christian promotes sin or finds it attractive, and that Christians should strive to stop sinning. That is certainly true. However, you start introducing righteous-sounding lies in the moment you say everybody will stand in front of Christ as a sinner, which definitely isn't true. Paul taught in 1 Cor. 3:15 that God's saints will be judged like everybody else, but they will still be considered saints:

"If anyone's work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire."

You then proceeded to mix more righteous-sounding lies in by saying Christianity isn't about someone's performance, which clearly contradicts what James taught:

"But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?" - Jas. 2:20

"You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only." - Jas. 2:24

"Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin." - Jas. 4:17

A person's belief in God means absolutely nothing if that person is not doing what God requires of them, hence Christ's statement in Matt. 7 that the only people who will be saved are the ones who does His Father's will. So yes, biblical Christianity certainly does require a certain kind of performance from its adherents because the way they live proves whether or not their faith is the real deal.

When people say things like "Christianity isn't a religion, it's a relationship with Christ", it's a clear attempt at removing the responsibility an individual has towards God out of the picture. Christianity is about establishing a relationship with God through religion. It does not exclude religion because Christianity is supposed to permeate every part of a person's lifestyle. There is a reason why John said the people who know God keep His commandments(1 Jhn 2:3). I suggest you start learning what dead works are and and what the real gospel is, because it's extremely obvious by your theology that you don't know enough about either subject to be telling other people that they have it wrong.

What is “The Will Of The Father?” To “BELIEVE on the ONE that He sent” ......I got that covered.....

Religion says “ DO!” ........Christianity says “DONE”....... cling to your religion if you like....God will Save No One that is TRYING to get to Heaven( the inherent, fatal flaw of all religion) but God will Save EVERYBODY that is TRUSTINg to get to Heaven....

Thanks for your opinions about what I know and what I do NOT know.....I Found them amusing...

So in what way are you better? Do you mean, 'better behaved'?

Surely you must mean, "Better off"?

Much love!

I think it’s perfectly clear what he means......and it is consistent with everything he posts....and it is Truly sad.....the lack of Mercy and Compassion is a sad thing to behold..........

It's the hat of imaginary 'safety' for those who think if you don't confess every single sin... you will go to hell... BB uses the term a lot.
I actually pulled the wrong hat... I should have said the "I'm so good hat".

Ahem.....Its not my nature to brag.....BUT! I am the one that “ coined” that phrase, “ Lucky Repentance” .....Lol....I like to think that my constant repetition of that phrase to modern- Day Judaizers has ran many of these Legalists off this Forum.... it drove a guy named “ Butero” who was an oft posting Legalist here to the point that he left and started his own Legalistic site.....they spy on me here and devote entire threads to me and my “ wicked” ways.....lol.....I LOVE it ! I am like FDR—— “I WELCOME the hatred of my enemies” , he said.....me too! ....It Let’s me know that I am in the right track!

I would like to see Addy define what it is....I have explained it so many times I can’t stand the thought of having to do it again...go ahead, Addy! Give it your best shot! Lol.....
