Congratulations and salutations @Ferris Bueller and @amigo de christo for being an Oasis of logic and beacons of Christian truth!
I also have to commend your patience for dealing....I will just say dealing...good job.
I love humor and I am a student of appreciating irony. People that think that Christians are dirty rags....and for that reason there is no reason to even try to stop sinning and all manner of sin will be in heaven....funny or ironic or both? Nope I think it is stupid.
On an international forum where the message of the Bible is condemned as legalistic....funny or ironic or sad?
On an international forum where the belief that Christians should be good and do good is ridiculed....funny or ironic or sad?
Anyway, Gold Star for the two of you. You brothers have always had a good perspective and understanding of the Christian faith and spirit.
And thank you for your labor in the field and building of God!

We forget that our words go to the four corners of the earth. All the more reason to make sure we are speaking the truth.

"If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God." 1 Peter 4:11

Now sarcasm mixed with humour... I can relate to. BB will love that remark. Personally... I don't like large crowds.
Have fun... I'm really not into debating today... but thanks for yesterday.

“Jesus Saves— BUT!”........ ( The Blood is Essential....it just ain’t Adequate—— Jesus needs a “ Co- Savior”..... and that guy is me!)
That's not what John is saying in 1 John 3:4-10. But if it is, can you show me where he says or implies that?

You really need to just explain how it is that John says the person who is living in sin is not born again, while the Progressive Hyper Grace church says he is.

The world is FULL of CHRISTIANS like you have just described... busy bodies... with nothing better to do than point their gnarly fingers
at others.... all the while neglecting to remove the log out of their own eye.
God promises to FINISH ( COMPLETE ) what HE has begun in His children. We are all a work in progress... and GOD sees the heart... man is always looking at the outside... comparing himself to others... meddling in each others sanctification.

The majority of those who say they're christians use grace, as an excuse for sin. They don't care what the True God in his Word tell those who are taking the lead in the church to do in these situations. Imperfect men who are actually unbelievers think think they're wiser than God. The scripture clearly tell us that when someone who's a member of the church, meaning one who has been baptized and has said they have accepted Jesus as their lord and king and then this person/persons start practicing thing like 1 Corinthians 5 is speaking of, if they will not repent, they are to be dis-fellowshipped.

At 1 Corinthians 5:1-13 a man had been dis-fellowshipped from the Corinthian congregation. He had been ‘handed over’ to Satan in the sense that he had been put out of the congregation and thus was thrust out into the world under Satan’s domain. This is done to preserve the congregation’s purity, so those taking the lead in that congregation, the elders, needed to clear out the “leaven.” 1 Corinthians 5:1, 5-7, 12.
At 1 Corinthians 5:9-11 it tells us very clearly that anyone who is a brother that is practicing such sins as, fornication, or who is covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner and doesn't repent then with such a one you don't greet that person/persons, you don't shake that persons hand you don't speak or associate with that person/persons not even eating a meal with that person/persons.
As I said, in the congregation of God, disfellowsipping is exercised to maintain the purity of the organization doctrinally and morally. The exercise of this power is necessary to the continued existence of the Christian congregation. The congregation must remain clean and maintain God’s favor in order to be used by him and to represent him. Otherwise, God would expel or cut off the entire congregation. Revelation 2:5

This truly could be so much easier if folks would go to the actual source who inspired the bible and into the bible to learn that truth .
When it comes to anything our pattern ought to mirror that pattern . For corrections , for warnings , for hope , for promises .
The problem is many are being programmed by men of today who have long been teaching things from their own intellectual carnal mind .
IF we take off from doing anything that was originally taught then expect failure and leaven to rise up and fill the place .
We should honestly look at the requirements that paul wrote to a few churches , about how any leader ought to be
as well as the flock itself . I notice the requirements happen to include being grave , serious , correcting error .
How many teachers today have one grave bone in their body . Most just teach a sensual mindset that has ceased
from the original pattern that was taught first by JESUS and then later by the apostels . They have abandoned
the very pattern that Christ set and later the apostels set . IF we take off from that pattern we reap destruction
unto ourselves and unto all who would do so . Most folks can agree that JESUS was the WORD of GOD in flesh .
But they sure dont treat Him as though His every WORD is of GOD . Many can say they agree with paul and other apostels ,
Yet often contradict those who simply bring THEIR reminders . This is not a good thing at all .
It would be so much simplier and confusion would fly away , IF WE would return to bible reading for ourselves and learn that pattern well .

Hey there. I’d put it like this … We strive to live holy lives because we are saved—saved with a very great salvation—so great that our hearts are filled with gratitude. We’re not perfect, but we do our best. … And I think God appreciates it when we do. jb
Yes indeed . The Lord puts the love of the truth , of Him upon our hearts . Let the LORD be praised .

That explains a LOT MORE than you realize.....and it gives me no pleasure to point that out....you are a Religious man.....and that is not a complement.....Religion is the opposite of Christianity.... I am not saying that you are not a Christian.....it’s just that your Christian Walk is “ hobbled” and you cant seem to understand it....you lack the Faith to truly “ Let go and let God” ......there’s hope for you—- you ain’t dead yet....lol... I am a “ Free Man in Christ”..... I used to be where you were....I would like to see you live “ The Abundant Life” that Jesus promised—- you ain’t there yet....
But I have that abundant life, so what are you talking about?

The point I'm getting at with Truman is my struggle isn't inside me. It's outside of me. I know what I want and love. The struggle, when it is a struggle (and it's less and less as the days go by) is living out the righteousness that I cherish and adore on the inside. The change I'm growing up into is not what needs to happen inside of me as much as it is what needs to happen day to day on the outside of me. 35 years in and the inner change seems to be very well along. Now it's just a matter of continually living on the outside what God has finished on the inside.

Paul is talking about Gospel Rejectors.....and what their lives are full of....if you are a Gospel Believer you will be Saved....anything you CANT do or anything you MUST do will be taken care of ....It wasn’t BB, it was GOD that stuck His neck out and said that if I came to Him through His Son — HE would “ Save me to the UTTERMOST” .....I did my part and I trust that God will do His....If He declares sneezing to be a Sin That we can’t “ Live In” , He will see to it that Gospel Believers do not sneeze habitually.....Something Of WAY MORE Value than my Salvation is at stake here—- His Word!
It sounds like you're saying, "true believers won't 'live like this'." Yet at the same time you say those who do 'live like this' are true believers, too. You can't have it both ways.

Paul said his biggest desire was to “ KNOW Him”.....Why is that so important? If one Knows God, he will love God and pretty much everything else will take care of itself .....
Is there anything we think we can accomplish in our own lives that God won't do better if we will just yield to Him? Getting close to Him, learning to trust Him, these are what are important to me.

Much love!

Actually... what he is saying is that he is RESTING in the ASSURANCE of God's promises ...and well... since you just commented on his upcoming award for this prestigious position... you should not be surprised with this comment. LOL... Sorry... couldn't resist.

I find it very sad that the legalistic bunch... compare themselves to the likes of the drunk up the street for their measure of being good.... when in all reality... we need to be comparing ourselves to the measure of CHRIST... I think that would dramatically reduce the I'm so good attitude found in so many score keeping believers.... My little thoughts for the day. LOL

About the only thing that sucks here is your attitude. Sure, I want to take credit for what the Lord did for a low-life like me. I really climbed up the mountain so I can put a lightning rod on my head and wait for a thunder storm. Did you also get hit with a stupid bomb?

It was me that “ INVENTED” the Stupid Bomb.....

Christianity is about being conformed to the image or likeness of Christ. Which includes dealing with sin. Therefore you are only partially correct. Here is what we find in Scripture: Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. (1 John 3:2,3).

Can you deny that is is speaking about dealing with sin? We are to purify ourselves by the power of the Holy Spirit, and examine ourselves daily.
This isn't saying we are to purify ourselves. It is saying if we trust that this promise is true, and expect that it will be kept on our behalf, that we will purify ourselves.

This goes with @Blood Bought 1953 's OP. Shutting down sin isn't our first priority. Trusting Jesus is. And trusting Jesus is what then leads us to shut down sin.

Much love!
