Why are you lowering the severity of the punishing of the wicked?

I believe that would be side-stepping the points and or issues I made, my friend. Then again, I see the ECT belief as not standing up to any real scrutiny. I remember watching one debate between ECT vs. Conditional Immortality on YouTube recently, and the ECT guy was not really dealing properly with the Conditionalist's point. At one point, the ECT guy almost seemed embarrassed.

Anyways, if your belief in ECT could stand, then disproving my points should be mere child's play. But you paint a broad brush stroke so as not to truly deal with each of the points I made specifically in detail. This is a re-occurring pattern I have noticed in these kinds of thread discussions involving this topic. In fact, I noticed the same thing taking place on another forum on this topic (in which I am currently involved in). So I would kindly appreciate it if you prove the cliche as being wrong.

Notice the enlarged set of words of the verse above. It says Sodom and Gomorrha ARE SET FORTH FOR AN EXAMPLE.
Bible archaelogists have went to Sodom today and the example of the fire that came down from Heaven destroying those cities is the AFTERMATH of destruction.

We can visit the place of Sodom and Gomorrah today and see the aftermath of its destruction.

This leaves us an EXAMPLE of what we read about in how these cities were destroyed by eternal fire from Heaven.

In other words, the eternal fire in Jude 1:7 is the fire that destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because it was an example to those living during that time period and it is an example to us today (Because we can visit that place and see it’s destruction).

The Aaronic Priesthood was to be an "everlasting" priesthood (Exodus 40:15), that is-until-it was superseded by the Melchizedek Priesthood (Hebrews 7:14-18).

So if we are to take your interpretation that “everlasting punishment” in Matthew 25:46 refers to punishment for all eternity, then that means that the Aaronic priesthood is still ongoing today, and Christ who is of a different priesthood order, has not superseded it.

So I ask you:

How do you read the words “everlasting priesthood” in Exodus 40:15?
Do you believe the Aaronic priesthood is everlasting and will continue for eternity?

Please do not dodge these questions.

In 1884, he incorporated Zion’s Watch Tower Tract Society.

On the contrary, to say that hell is a literal place of eternal torment goes against the Bible!

The Luke 16 passage is a parable, telling a story that the "Pharisees, who were lovers of money" (verse 14), would understand. Note that Jesus did not apportion any sin to the rich man - he just said that he was rich. Is being rich deserving of eternal torture in fire?

Likewise Jesus did not say anything about whether the beggar was a sinner or not (although as the Scriptures say, “There is no one righteous; no, not one", Romans 3:10).

Why would anyone be tortured/tormented in Sheol/Hades (hell/grave)? There is no concsious thought in death/Hades, so torment is impossible. Nobody is judged until after they are awakened from sleep in Hades (grave), so why would they be tormented in fire before they have been judged? If they are not awakened then they are perished (permanently destroyed).

1 Corinthians 15:16-18 (WEB):

(16) For if the dead aren’t raised, neither has Christ been raised.​

(17) If Christ has not been raised, your faith is vain; you are still in your sins.​

(18) Then they also who are fallen asleep in Christ have perished.​

Revelation 20:13 (WEB):

(13) The sea gave up the dead who were in it. Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them. They were judged, each one according to his works.​

Note that death and Hades mean the same thing. Those that died in the sea are not in a grave/tomb; like those in graves/tombs their bodies will have decomposed or been completely destroyed. But the sea and the earth will give up the dead, they will be awakened to life again (death is like a sleep, as God said, Deuteronomy 31:16 - Yahweh said to Moses, “Behold, you shall sleep with your fathers").

Hell, or Hades, means being in a tomb or grave. John 5:28 (WEB):

(28) Don’t marvel at this, for the hour comes, in which all that are in the tombs will hear his voice,​

The Bible does not teach that God is so evil that He will torture millions of people with excrutiating pain for all eternity; it's Satan that deceives people into believing that. Job 34:10 (WEB):

(10) “Therefore listen to me, you men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness, from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.​

Isaiah 25:8
