Hello brothers and sisters in Christ..

Well, some of you may recall I was in great tribulation. I came to the point where the Lord told me it was going to be the hardest time. And it was not only the hardest but it was the darkest. And, I'll tell ya, it takes a mountain of faith to not doubt during these times. But I hung in there even when my world was falling down around me. Everything caved in on me around Christmas. This is about where I disappeared from Cyb. I was faced with a lot of emotions and decisions. I was getting sick from not eating, I lost 10 pounds in about two weeks, maybe less. It seemed the harder I fought to trust God, the harder the enemy tried to invade my heart. I shut myself in the dark and away from everyone. But I never lost faith.....

The Lord sent a couple of people to me that were very godly and helped pick me back up. I soon realized what I needed to do. I took an entire week to myself and spent it with God. Long story short, by the end of the week I was eating regularly, laughing, and letting the light in. The best part was, I was able to forgive, both myself, and those who had hurt me. I even called them and told them I had moved past and I forgive.

The story is really more detailed but the short is, God will carry you!! Things are so wonderful for me and my kids now and God kept His promise and I am better now than I was before the trial!!!! Praise Him!!!

I would also like to thank all of you for your prayers at the start of this whole mess. God heard you all and led me where His will was.

I think everyone needs to spend an extended amount of time alone with God.

Thank you Lord for showing up and helping Born_Again.

Brother, there are a lot of members here who have been through varying trials and things. Some of them have been with us while these things were transpiring. We might not always know the details, but we are always here!!

I thank you for your faith, for sticking it out and for being willing to take the time to seek God above all, even in the difficult time. Not only does that improve where you are, but it is such a witness to others! I am grateful that God was able to place the right people in your life as well! An amazing God lives within us, even in our darkest hours. He will never leave nor forsake (Hebrews 13:5).

It's amazing how God can take what might seem like a tragedy and turn it in to one of the single most greatest experiences of our lives!!! My message to anyone who reads this is this, Do not doubt, keep the faith, He will lead you through the fire and you will not get burned!!! Praise His holy name!!!

I wonder if a christian retreat would be a good idea. A place where your kept in isolation from the rest of the world, in solitude. The only time you would have contact with others would be an optional daily worship service. The deal would be if you leave you couldn't come back in for a year.

What a benefit it would be, to the visiters. A church could thrive in conjunction with it. It would be relitively low maintenance. It would be a witness to the world when people spend their vacation in a monistary.

dear iforrest, if there were a christian retreat place here i would go. my parents once planned to build one. my mother stayed at a catholic retreat once and seemed to love it, after going through personal grief.

TBH, I would be all for a Protestant version of this. I located several monasteries here in my own little state and have seriously thought about a visit or a retreat, but they're Catholic or Eastern Orthodox. I've read some of the works of notable believers in this type of thing, and while we must be on guard for some dangers (as we should be with anything), I believe there is something to getting distractions out of sight and mind. Jesus frequently went off to pray.

I'm game. Any rich donors I don't know about here? ;) :D

In all seriousness, I would be for it should we ever have the resources. I think it's something needed for Christians in the coming times.

One thing I would like to avoid is creating spiritual orphans. So I think it needs to be associated with one or more churches. That would be for when someone doesn't have a home church.

If you build a retreat center, I'm dressing up in a brown robe with a hood when I make my appearance! Ha!
