It seems that you got both at once, which is possible, obviously.
What do you mean, it seems I got both at once.

There is only one Living testimony for God..His Name is the Holy Spirit...he testifies Of Gods truth to our heart/ spirit.?

Only he can testify to our spirit that we are Gods children.

The fullness of the Spirit is a subsequent experience for most, if they have it at all.
Did the disciples have the indwelling Spirit? What happened at Pentecost?

Acts 1:4-5 NIV
On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command:
“Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about.
5 For John baptized with[a] water, but in a few days you will be baptized with[b] the Holy Spirit.”

You have just voiced your own opinion ....which makes no,sense to me.

The Spirit testifies with our spirit that we are Gods children...that’s scripture , which makes sense to my spirit..

So, obviously everyone’s testimony is different @St. SteVen .

What has Pentecost got to do with the question I asked of you?

I could be wrong.
Perhaps you have not received the Baptism with the Holy Spirit?
Do you speak in tongues? Or manifest any of the other gifts of the Spirit?
See 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 (pasted below)

1 Corinthians 12:7-11 NIV
Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.
8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom,
to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit,
9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit,
10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy,
to another distinguishing between spirits,
to another speaking in different kinds of tongues,[a]
and to still another the interpretation of tongues.[b]
11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit,
and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.

Perhaps you have not received the Baptism with the Holy Spirit?

I have been birthed in the Spirit?...my spirit has been birthed permanently, it’s Alive in the Spirit of Christ?

How would I know this?

Baptised in the Spirit?
Do you speak in tongues? Or manifest any of the other gifts of the Spirit?
See 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 (pasted below)

You don’t have to speak in tongues to be birthed by the Spirit....yes, I do speak in tongues....I haven’t spoken in tongues in years.
1 Corinthians 12:7-11 NIV
Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.
8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom,
to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit,

11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit,
and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.

I also have the supernatural God given gift of faith.= by divine heart revelation.

To have faith in God, one has to have him testify of himself to our spirit, via his Holy Spirit.

How else could I possibly know God..he’s a Living Spirit?

Baptised in the Spirit?

One Baptism. - What is it?

Discussion with a beloved forum member this morning raised the question of baptism. And to the question in my own mind: What is the ONE baptism? I know of at least two baptisms: Water Baptism and the Baptism with the Holy Spirit. Is the one baptism one of these, or something else entirely...

What is the difference between the indwelling Spirit and the Baptism with the Holy Spirit?

...Here are the facts: 1) Those in Samaria were believers (had accepted the word of God) 2) They had received baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus. (water baptism) 3) But the Holy Spirit had not yet come on any of them. (had not yet "come on" any of them?) 4) Peter and John placed their hands...

Can you name the four biblical cities/countries that define the Baptism with the Holy Spirit?

...some disciples and asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” in what city? - What happened in each of these cities helps to define the Baptism with the Holy Spirit. - What elements do we find in each city that contributes to a complete understanding? ] cc:

What is the initial evidence of the Baptism with the Holy Spirit?

...hadn't the baptized believers in Samaria received the Holy Spirit? The typical response to the question about the initial evidence of the Baptism with the Holy Spirit, is tongues. But when I read the book of the Acts of the Apostles, I see it is not limited to tongues. I conclude that any...

Are those your words?

No idea what Baptised in the Spirit means, as I was birthed by the Spirit.

Spirit gives birth to spirit = supernatural Living spiritual rebirth.

Flesh gives birth to flesh = Born from my father’s seed ( human).

Speaking in tongues is evidence of the Baptism with the Holy Spirit. (as I suspected)

Yes. A few of my topics on the subject.
I have given this much thought.
I haven’t a clue what baptised in the Spirit means.

I can only relate to The Spirit testifies with our spirit that we are the children of God.

Spirit gives birth to spirit...

Obviously everyone’s testimony is different.

Not sure about that...anyone can say they speak in tongues...who can tell @St. SteVen ...if it’s tongues or not...we can’t...could be a load of nonsense for all we know...only God knows.
(as I suspected)

Again, I have no understanding of baptism....

I speak in tongues, two to be precise but I usually only use one. However, what I speak is for the purpose of glorifying my Saviour and yours.
When the boys spoke at Pentecost, what was it they spoke? well, it tells us they spoke of the wonderful works of God. It emphasises the subject matter.....and what would these works have been? Yes, the resurrected Jesus and his reality; that is what their tongues spoke of.

As far as the people from the various language groups from surrounding nations go, they tell us they HEARD the 'wonderfull works of God' being told them. I would suggest the miracle of what was transpiring was one of HEARING.
The disciples were given the ability to put what they had witnessed in the reality of Jesus into a context the visitors to Jerusalem had never heard. They (the visitors) described it as 'the wonderful works of God'.....and as they listened, the hearers ears were opened and they responded.

The utube footage showed a water baptism and not a baptism of the Holy Spirit. Also, there is no corraborating accounts in scripture that this is that which you indicated ot thought it to be. Upon baptism, we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, but are not baptized by it. It dwells in us at baptism which is not being baptized by it.

As I understand it, the Baptism with the Holy Spirit is a subsequent event that follows the indwelling.
I'm not sure it's supposed to be that way. I think the two things are supposed to happen at the same time.

That seems to be how it happens in the New Testament anyway. There are also a couple instances there as well where the baptism happens first.

Act 10:47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

I have had the same question. My best attempt at reconciling it follows... (I'm allowed to quote myself, right?)
There's just one baptism, but there are 3 participants in the baptism, and each has a part to play. Those who identify 3 baptisms, are really just identifying 3 aspects of the same single thing.
The 3 participants are: God, the believer, and the church.
As regards the believer, he changes his mind to agree with God. To some, this is "a baptism of repentance," or "John's baptism."
As regards the church, they accept the adoption of a new brother (or sister) into their ranks. To some, this is "water baptism."
As regards God, He regenerates the believer by the Spirit. To some, this is "spirit baptism."
All of these are facets of the same event, by which a person is transformed by being adopted as a son of God.
Our confusion is because all 3 don't appear to happen at the same time.
I wrote that about 9 years ago. Today I might quibble with a few word choices... mostly how I've written it so certainly. Its more of a theory... I'm not 100% certain.

I DO think the church often rushes ahead to baptize people prematurely, though... which complicates things.

Again, I have no understanding of baptism....
John the Baptist was the first to mention it.
And Jesus repeated it in reference to the outpouring at Pentecost.

Matthew 3:11 NIV
“I baptize you with[a] water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I,
whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with[b] the Holy Spirit and fire.

The Holy Spirit can be rather unpredictable in this regard.
- At Pentecost it seemed to come automatically with water baptism.
- In Samaria it didn't come automatically with water baptism. The Apostles laid hands on them.
- Ananias laid hands on Saul. Then he was baptized.
- At the house of Cornelius the Spirit fell while Peter was still preaching. Then the gentiles were water baptized.
- In Ephesus the Apostle Paul baptized the disciples of Apollos in Jesus' name and then laid hands on them.

The laying on of hands has continued as a regular practice today as a subsequent experience.
But some receive the Spirit spontaneously. I love those testimonies. - LOL
