What is the initial evidence of the Baptism with the Holy Spirit?

Perhaps this is the problem here.
I think Weber... assumes that the outpouring at the house of Cornelius was identical to the outpouring at Pentecost.
The type of tongues in use at the outpouring at Pentecost was an Evangelistic language. #5 in the list below.
I think the outpouring at the house of Cornelius was a Personal prayer language. #1 in the list below.
The tongues they were speaking was evidence of the Baptism with the Holy Spirit. IMHO

Five Uses of Tongues
1) Personal prayer language (speaking to God) See Acts 1:5, 1 Corinthians 14:2 and Acts 19:6
2) Intercessory prayer language (prayer in the Spirit) See Romans 8:26
3) Congregational message (preferably with interpretation) 1 Corinthians 14
4) Worship language (singing in tongues) See 1 Corinthians 14:15
5) Evangelistic language (language of the hearers) Like the outpouring at Pentecost. See Acts 2

I would submit that the tongues spoken at Pentecost were not the same as the gift of tongues (with interpretation) listed in 1 Cor 12.

Real-life foreign languages serve a practical application. For example:

● 1Cor 14:21-22 . . In the law it is written; "With men of other tongues and other lips will
I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me: saith the Lord."
Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not.

In other words; foreigners were intended to be a wake-up call for the Jews. The
intention was for them to be startled by people from other lands coming to their land to
preach in the land where preaching is supposed to be done for Jews by Jews rather
than for Jews by foreigners.

Anyway, from what I gather; the gift of tongues is meant for communication rather than
only evidence that somebody is indwelt by God's spirit. The way I've seen modern
tonguers garbling and trilling on YouTube does not convince me they've got it. I really
don't see how they are any more credible than folks in the South that dance with
rattlesnakes.

speak with tongues, and there come in those who are uninformed or unbelievers, will

Being Born again, is the only Proof a person is a Christian.

The rest of the "christianese" stuff....the tongues, the prophecy, the ranting about "i heard from God and He told me to tell you"..

All of this OPERA that many pretend to produce, can easily be faked..

People that are always led by some "inner feeling" are the last to hear from the Holy Spirit, as He is not a FEELING.

So...Its best to just ignore people who say they "always have a word from God'.. "and God told me this today"..

Just avoid those people, as that is not how " readl Christianity" sounds. It does not sound "crazy" or "out of order".

Spiritual gifts are real, and there are some who chase "tongues" and endlessly pursue their idea of "Spiritual Gifts". and the "baptism with the Spirit". for 60 yrs., and never understand it.

Can't say I disagree with most of this...

There is no shortcut to real spirituality and the way is narrow.

Yet there is a way to Walk in the Spirit in His Love with wonderful evidence of His Power and Grace.

Consume the Scripture - Worship Jesus - be in healthy loving fellowship - Surrender your all to His purpose.

Actually the WAY to Heaven is "narrow" as its The Cross of Christ.. John 14:6

All other ways, are the "broad way" that lead to destruction.....(Hell).

Yet there is a way to Walk in the Spirit in His Love with wonderful evidence of His Power and Grace.

The only way to walk in the Spirit, is to have the "knowledge of God".... and that revelation begins.. by doing what Hebrews 13:9 says to do with your heart.

Reader....If you never do that, you never become anything other then a diaper baby believer, who is stuck in Hebrews 6:1.

How to find out what that "knowledge of God" is.... actually?
Find a good Pauline Theology teacher who told you about it... is a really good place to start.

A lot of people believe they are consuming the scriptures when they read a translator translate some Koine Greek that they can't read.
So, thats a Fail...

Others have more books about "errors in the bible"", than anything else, and thats a fail.

The worst offender of the Bible, is the "commentary nut".. as this one has more commentaries then they have the number in their IQ, and they are lost in them..........all these man made concepts that to them have long ago replaced their brain, and their Holy Bible.

The only way to Jesus is through the Father he draws us to Jesus he brings us to initially believe in Jesus , then by his will he gives birth to our spirit by divine heart revelation.its an act that only God can do and his Living witness the Holy Spirit is the only one who can perform this act by divine, heart, revelation.

We have been gifted to know who Jesus is by the gift of supernatural faith, where the Spirit testifies with our spirit that we are Gods children, he testifies that truth to our heart/ spirit as he’s indwelling us, he speaks to our spirit.

After the birth, the burden of sin has been lifted, you know the Love Of God in your heart as that is where he indwells us after the rebirth, he’s taken up permanent residence in our spirit.

We have a new heart/ spirit within, we also see God’s creation through the eyes of the Holy Spirit, he also witnesses the death and resurrection of Jesus death to our spirit...we know Jesus in our spirit.

The Bible confirms this..no one can prove that they have been Born Of The Spirit...thankfully God has given us the gift of discernment.

There are many false prophets/ teachers out there, we are called to test the spirits.

Notice John 14:6.. .... THis is Jesus teaching that HE is the "ONLY WAY>. to the FATHER", "no person can come to the FATHER.. but by me".

What I wrote is how I became Born Again, nobody said that God gifts an non believer faith, that’s your own understanding of my post, what “ you”believe it to be saying, because it doesn’t fit in with your criteria of how we become Born Again..

You cannot know who God is, not until you have been birthed by the Living Holy Spirit, he witnesses Gods truth to our heart as he’s indwelling us, he speaks to our spirit.

Now because you lack spiritual knowledge and have no understanding of divine heart revelation , how God draws us to Jesus, how he brings us to believe initially in Jesus, then gifts us the faith to believe who he is in our spirit/ Heart....you accuse us of being demonically posed by Calvin.

I can quite easily live with that, and for sure you will never stop me from speaking out Gods truth...your words don’t and can never penetrate my heart/ spirit, only the Living Holy Spirit can penetrate my heart/ spirit with Gods truth.

I don’t believe you understand the spiritual rebirth , I also don’t believe you understand how God’s Living witness births our spirit into his, you said you heard, that is not the same as a Living spirit rebirth, that can only be done by Gods Living witness the Holy Spirit...you believe he forces his will onto us,again, because imo, you are in your own carnal understanding.

The carnal mind cannot understand the Spirit Of God it’s foolishness to them..understanding in the Spirit is spiritually discerned..all I see from you is flesh talk, even more so if they go against your preaching.

The Holy Spirit gave birth to my spirit, Spirit gives birth to spirit = Living supernatural rebirth,then I came to know God’s truth in my heart/ spirit, because that is where his Living seed penetrated my heart/ spirit and there he has taken up residence for the past 33 yrs...my spirit has been Born Again of imperishable seed that liveth and abideth forever.

The seed liveth and abideth forever in my heart/ spirit, where he is growing and maturing my spirit to be more Christ like and to bear the fruit of Jesus.because I was chosen and predestined to be a child of God before the foundation of the world, the same as Jesus was chosen and predestined to be the Messiah, only he can cleanse us from all sin because he is perfect, pure and without blemish...
