Well according to Paul they are not beyond receiving salvation. Some of the most prominent Christians are Jewish.
How does your point relate to the verse Jer 32:40 which spoke of the New Covenant to come ???
Jer 32:40 “I will make an everlasting covenant with them that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; and I will put the fear of Me in their hearts so that they will not turn away from Me.
Gal 4:21 - 24 Tell me, you who want to be under law,
do you not listen to the law? For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the bondwoman and one by the free woman. But the son by the bondwoman was born according to the flesh, and the son by the free woman through the promise.
This is allegorically speaking, for these
women are two covenants: one
proceeding from Mount Sinai bearing children who are to be slaves; she is Hagar.
I would like to comment on the verse, and the OP.
First it is important to actually know Jesus Christ. He is the King of the Kingdom of God! He is also the Word of God who was in the beginning with God and who is God. And He explained that His sheep hear His voice.
Now whatever a King says - it is law!! So when Paul was writing " do you not listen to the Law?" to the Galatians He was asking if they actually listened to Jesus Christ as the King - and would we think of the Galatians as being a bunch of Jewish people? Were they not considered gentiles? So being sons of Abraham, who listen to and knew the Lord, is about listening to and knowing the Lord not your physical heritage!!! Or do we still not understand the spiritual nature of things?
It is not sons of the flesh, as in the physically related offspring of Abraham, but the sons of the Spirit of God who are the true off-spring of God. And so is the work of God focus on who we tend to call Jewish, or on all people?
Jn 6:29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”
Jn 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that
whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
Jn 10:28 and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and
no one will snatch them out of My hand.
So if you truly believe in Jesus Christ no one will be able to snatch you our of His hands. But what if your faith is not actually in Jesus Christ?
So what are we "Christians"? Are we Bible believer's or believers in Jesus Christ? Do we listen to the Law, or are we about reading the Law?
My Lord once told me, "Karl, I am God of whole world, the whole universe, the whole everything, but especially the who
le world! Always remember that!"
Yes - God set aside a people, the offspring of Abraham who did listen to Him and thus knew Him, so He could use them as an example for the rest of the world. Yet they are still just people, like the rest of us! He loves them, but as God of everything, He loves everyone and wishes the none should perish!! They (the Jewish people) were and are used by Him to show how people are verses how He is. So is His purpose to save them or to kill them? God still wishes that all should come to know the Son and be saved, but not all do!
He told the Jews, as recorded in the Bible:
Jn 5:39:40 You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me; and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life.
So, they could have told themselves, "We as BIBLE believers", yet their searching the Scriptures did not actually lead to hearing from Him, even though Moses who wrote Scripture explained that the word was near them and that they needed to listen to Him. Still, at the mountain they said, "Let not God speak to us"
Those of the promise (be them Jew or Gentile) don't say "Let not God speak to us" but instead they listen to the Lord like Abraham did! If you indeed listen to Him, you have things you heard from Him. Things like:
"THE BEST LISTENERS MAKE THE BEST TEACHERS."
Now how can you completely stop listening to Him after you started listening to Him, when He tells you such interesting things? Oh you can get mad at Him, because things don't go as you thing, but honestly hearing from Him is like the ad slogan saying you can't eat just one. The fact is that if you start listening to Him you are going to keep turning back to Him. You can leave religion. You might even get upset enough to turn away from Him for a season. But even that takes great effort once you actually get to know Him, because He keeps showing up trying to get you into a conversation with Him.
So who writes about being Bible believer's when they know Him. It is clearly about believing in Him. And who doesn't understand that He is God of everything, so it is "whoever believes in Him" not Jew or Gentile!
I sat and prayed the Lord's prayer this morning 'Our Father...' and listened afterwards. The Father spoke to me asking me to go on the forum and remind people of what He said, and He specifically reminded me, “This is My beloved Son, listen to Him!”. People, the Father points to His Son and tells us (Jew and Gentile alike) and says listen to Him! And Jesus explained that He sheep hear His voice! The true offspring of Abraham are those who like Abraham, listen to the Word of God (Jesus Christ) and believe He is the Lord! And any person can do that, but not everyone is willing! But if anyone opens up to Him they will be saved, and He will keep them, because after you start hearing from Him by faith, you will understand that He is always there knocking and you are going to turn back to Him and open up to Him again and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and ........................................................................
