One of the greatest Bible scholars and famous theologian E.W. Bullinger, has a lot of data on phrases classifying them into three distinct divisions: figures involving omission, addition, and change. He further breaks down whether figures affect the words themselves, the sense, meaning, order, or application of words.
Neither Bullinger, nor any other "man", is more authoritative than God on His Word.

The term figure of speech strongly implies being inherently insincere and lacking credibility.

Modern perspectives, and interpretations, of the Bible diminish the Divine Truth that is contained therein.

Anything that diminishes the sacred nature of God's Word is vanity and useless.

Making men the authority of anything to do with Scripture is a profound mistake and a failure of Faith.

Take the Bible for what it says and trust the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

You need that NO MAN teach you anything to do with Scripture. (1 John 2:27)

Because the Bible was not written by men.

It was written by God. He is the author.

That's the difference.

God doesn't use meaningless figures of speech to inform the world of the most important facts of history and spirituality that could ever be pondered.
How could Moses talk to God face to face and a few verses later God says No one can see my face and live? Isn't face to face a figure of speech?

So are there literal windows in the heavens that opened when the flood of Noah happened?

There is the point of departure. The Bible was written by men (inspired by God). These men spoke a human language with manners of speaking. These manners of speaking is highly figurative.
God inspired each and every original Word. The Bible is the inspired Word of God, written by God through men (only as instruments) who devoted their entire lives to Him. It is very likely they were unlike anything that has existed for centuries in our modern world. Referring to their extent of purity and devotion.

Inspired means in-spirited. It was the Holy Spirit literally speaking through these men. Choosing each and every word with great care. The original language likely didn't contain what we recognize today as figures of speech.
Wow. Very provincial to say such a thing.
Meaning what exactly? Provincial?
The Bible is NOT a technical and literal manual in entirety.
Again, to the extent that you don't believe the Bible is literal, you allow any level of diminishing of God's Truth and intended meaning. There are places where symbolism is used, of course, but it is usually obvious or made clear. Just as Jesus informs us in Revelation 1:1 that the book uses symbolism and signs.

I really don't know enough about God's face to answer that. Moses certainly was facing something supernatural as his face shone like the sun afterward to the extent that he had to wear a vail so as not to terrify all the people. He was sure face to face with something.

There is certainly a literal firmament so maybe there are windows of some kind within it. Have you ever been up there to look at it and see for yourself? God says there is water above the firmament so that would make sense.

Nikola Tesla discovered that he could bounce his energy beams off the firmament to send energy to other locations on the earth, so we know it is a solid structure just as God said it was.

Here's an example... Wise as serpents = shrewd (Matt. 10:16). That did not mean Jesus wanted his disciples to turn into snakes. The Bible is an eastern book written with the eastern biblical culture and customs. They like all cultures had figures of speech it their writings.

Well, remember God said that "... the serpent was more subtil (cunning) than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made." (Genesis 3:1) So, your verse is a reference back to that statement I would say. Maybe serpents aren't what we believe them to be, or maybe they are a spiritual creature that is very wise. That particular serpent has always been held to be satan in the garden and he is said to be very intelligent in all his wiles to trick, and trap, us in many ways.

Doves are mighty harmless.

'Be wise as serpents and harmless as doves' is not so figurative in my opinion.

It was the Holy Spirit literally speaking through these men

No sir. Have you been sealed by the Holy Spirit? Has the Holy Spirit communicated directly to you? Have you had such supernatural experiences that you can share?

I have. The communication is like telepathy. It is not my thoughts in my head. Even the pattern of communication was different than I think to myself. It was foreign. It was divine.

From this in-spirit, I obeyed the living God - and told who I had to tell the message I was given. However, I delivered the sacred message my way, using my words and my speaking patterns.

Meaning what exactly? Provincial?

It means you can only consider things through the lens you originall had, in the province you came from. Soda. Tonic. Coke. All refer to the same thing in the US. It's odd that some States (provinces) use the Brand Name Coke to refer generally to carbonated soft drinks. So, exchanges go like this.
WAITRESS: What will you have to drink.
PROVINCIAL CUSTOMER: Coke.
WAITRESS: Oh OK. What type of Coke.
PROVINCIAL CUSTOMER: Sprite.
Again, to the extent that you don't believe the Bible is literal, you allow any level of diminishing of God's Truth and intended meaning.

With all due respect, you are making an idol out of the Bible. A holy book is not what separates Christianity from other religions. It's the fact that we have a living God - who talks directly to us today!

Are you familiar with Hebrews 4:12? The word of God is alive. What it communicates is NOT diminished by recognizing it's poetry, its poetic elements. Rather, it is enhanced.

Blatant Appeal to Ignorance. You are trying to change the burden of proof and suppose if I cannot convince you it applies to Person X, it must apply to your idol.

No. For 700 years Hebrews recognized this verse as not being prophetic. 1100 years after Isaiah wrote the text, trinitarians decided it would be cool to repurpose Isaiah’s words since there is otherwise to explicit teaching on the trinity in Scripture.

Jesus is not once called father in NT. It shows desperation for you to try to force the connection.
How can verse 7 apply to anyone else but Jesus? Whose kingdom has lasted forever? Isaiah 9: 6,7 | Bible Exposition Commentary

Wow! You are stuck on this idol.

Let's review Isaiah Ch 9, starting with verse 1 (VOICE) But there will be no more gloom for those who knew such hardship. In times past, God humbled the land of Zebulun and Naphtali; later, He will restore the honor and glory to the way of the sea, the land beyond the Jordan, Galilee, home of the nations.

The chapter is about God. That is the "he" in v7 (not the child from v6). And v 3 And You, God, will make it happen.

v18 No one thinks or acts as God would have them do.

The NLT @ v19 no one will spare even his own brother. (NOG The land is scorched by the fury of Yahweh Tsebaoth)

v 20 In the end they will even eat their own children.

v21 But even then the LORD’s anger will not be satisfied.
His fist is still poised to strike
.

I think you desperately want to confuse YHWH with one of his servants.

Jesus is not God.

It's so funny that you ask me a question OVER and OVER again. When I finally take the time to answer it comprehensively, you just ignore everything I write and copy and paste something. Nice!
It's amazing you won't accept the plain reading of scripture because it doesn't support your views

The opposite is true. You are imposing your trinitarian doctrine onto unitarian text. I showed you how Is 9 refers to God over and over and over again. For some reason, you think it is the child Jesus.

I guess Isaiah 53 is not about Jesus either. Isaiah 53:5
