The Second Coming of Christ will be marked by a number of signs, including the wars and rumors of wars but natural disasters such as earthquakes, hurricanes, famines, and other natural disasters will increase in severity before the Second Coming. There will be signs in the sky where the sun will darken, the moon will not give light, and stars will fall from the sky. And a moral decline across the world as the Holy Spirit is withdrawn and darkness spreads with a great moral fall in society. If we look now, the world has witnessed events that just a few years ago might have seemed unbelievable. Flooding, record temperatures, and devastating fires and traditional moral values have been turned upside down. Social media has become a sea of unbridled anger and malice to say nothing of politics...

So are we seeing signs of the Second Coming? I would say so and the final event is near...

There will be an abomination that causes desolation. It will result in darkness, the sun and moon will not shine over one third of the earth(Rev ch8.) A third of the trees and land will be burned up. The world will see horrors unequalled since its creation and will never be seen again. If those days were not shortened no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect they will be shortened. Sadly, man now has the capability to bring such horrors to pass. Some time after that, Christ will come.

1. the maturing age of the parable of the fig tree generation.

My two cents worth of understanding.

At the end of this present age, then will follow a 1,000-year period of relative peace because the kings of the earth, the beast(s), the Little Horn and Satan will have been imprisoned in the bottomless pit. The first sign will be the drawing to an end of the 1,000 years of relative peace on the face of the earth which will be marked by the release of the Kings of the earth, followed by the beasts, the little Horn/The False Prophet and Satan who all head up the land of Gog and Magog to raise a Great Army to sweep across the face of the earth, initially to attack Israelites but when that fails this army will attack the Christians that live across the face of the earth who will be martyred/killed as the army sweeps around the earth to eventually arrive in/at Jerusalem where the two witnesses of God will be doing signs and wonders before they are killed by the beast and out of the turmoil the people begin turning away from God and begin worshipping the Beast at the urging of the false prophet. Then there will be a battle where the birds of prey will gather for a great feast after a great battle, because of the overpowering of this attacking army against Jerusalem, will be defeated by Christ and His heavenly Hosts that come with Him and the people then cleanse the land and bury the bones of those who had died. During this battle the Beast and the False prophet will be captured and dispatched into the Lake of Fire, which is their punishment, after which Satan will also be captured and dispatched into the Lake of Fire.

The Final sign will be the coming of the Lord on the Clouds with all of the heavenly Hosts to judge all of the peoples of the earth.

But what are the signs showing the Second Coming is near?

The scripture you quoted is a teaching on the bodily resurrection and is NOT is a teaching on the second coming of Christ.

Matthew chapter 24 is a teaching on the second coming of Christ. That chapter presents the "signs of the times" that will occur before Christ returns to an Elect believer to bring them salvation.

Heb 9:28 So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

The "signs of the times" presented show that the Elect believer has been "killed" by Satan and has come under his deceptions via the spirit of anti-Christ. They have fallen away and become apostate. After Christ gives the fallen away Elect believer the Latter Rain of the Spirit, their spiritual blindness will be healed (Mark 8:15-15). With this new vision, they will see the Abomination of Desolation that previously occurred within themselves. Christ will then appear to them and commence His judgment to remove & destroy all the spiritual things that has made them carnally minded. After His judgment is complete, the believer will be converted and saved.

All the Elect will experience the second coming of Christ before they die. If a believer does not experience it, they are not one of the "few" who have been chosen.
