Was Noah's flood global?

If the "heavens" opened and all of the water in the atmosphere came down at once as rain, the planet would be submerged — but only to a depth of about 1 inch (2.5 centimeters), according to the U.S. Geological Survey. That's not enough water to justify a canoe, let alone a massive ark.

As to where all the waters went note these facts:
The world’s surface is 7/10ths water versus 3/10ths land.
The average depth of the ocean 12451 ft versus average height of land above sealevel is 2300 ft.
If the surface of the earth was flat the water would stand over 7900 ft or 1.5 mi deep/high.
So if the mountains were lower and the oceans were shallower there'd be enough water to flood the earth.

When I read the OT I see both the physical and the allegorical meaning suchas Paul wrote above.

Does Mt Sinai actually exist? it does. Does Jerusalem exist? it does. But things that are written of old time are also a spiritual message.

I often think about the animals going onto Noah's ark both clean and unclean, being saved while the rest of the world is lost.
And how Jesus sent out his disciples two by two to preach redemption to a world that was falling.

And how both Jews and Gentiles are brought into the same fold or ark.
Even the story with the sheet that was let down before Peter of all kinds of animals and being told that what God hath cleansed call no man unclean.

That whole world perished that Noah came from. And now we are told that God so loved the world that he sent his son to save it.
Why wouldn't God have done the same in the days of Noah?

Was the flood a universal baptism of sorts?
What happened to the souls of those who died in the flood?
If their hearts were only evil continually then what hope do we have in this world?

I believe there was an actual flood of water that covered the earth. But there are other means of floods in the bible.

Could the flood refer to armies that would come to take over all the earth with destruction?

If the old world was destroyed by a flood, and the fathers which lived on the other side of the flood had Egyptian gods....
And the flood of Egypt would drown the world and destroy it, what exactly was the flood in Noah's day?

Is it metaphorical? I believe it could be. Did the flood actually happen with rain or could it also refer to armies and self destruction?
I think there could be many applications to the story of Noah's flood.

I have no problem with the physical science nor the spiritual application of the story of Noah's flood.
I believe it is dual in nature. Both an actual event and an Allegory such as Agar and Mt. Sinai.

The word הָאָ֑רֶץ or (erets) can mean either earth or land, but most often it means land. Here is its usage.

As you can see it means “land” more often than not. But look at this scripture, as a alignment to the notion.

[Truthnightmare]

•• That somehow the water necessary to cover the entire globe over the height of Mt. Everest (5½ miles above sea level!) fell upon the earth and then vanished.

•• That Noah's Ark, of which the Bible gives the dimensions of (the Sacred Cubit is approx 25' long; thus, the Ark was 625' long x 104' wide x 62' 5" high), was somehow large enough to house the hundreds of thousands of known species today (not to mention their food supply for a year, or the fact that they were taken by two's {unclean animals} and by sevens {clean animals} each - Gen7:2).

•• That from the eight white people on the Ark, in a matter of less that a thousand years, evolved all the different races (Black, Oriental, Hispanic..), and then they suddenly stopped evolving.

•• That the Kenites (sons of Cain from Gen 4:17-24) made it through the flood (to be found in 1st Chron 2:55, etc.), but were not with Noah's family on the Ark (good swimmers perhaps?).

•• That receding water from a single great flood could carve solid rock to the great depth of the grand canyon. (The Grand Canyon extends 277 miles. It is about 1 mile deep. The canyon varies in width from less than 1 mile to 18 miles).

Here is what a few believe the Bible says about the Flood of Noah.. As do I

•• That God, while he could, does not create Trillion x Trillionsof metric tons of water and then destroy it again a year later (as 'Young Earth' devotees explain away the amount of water necessary to cover the highest mountain ranges (Mt. Everest - 5½ miles above sea level).
