Most of the trinitarian pastor’s I’ve spoken with were aware of the history. They remain trinitarian without denying the historical facts about the doctrine. The average trinitarian isn’t aware of the history and doesn’t care anything about it.

Scenario: Trinitarian pastor who knows the history is financially compensated by the average trinitarian who doesn’t know the history, doesn’t care about the history, and doesn’t come to church to learn about the history.

Why does the trinitarian pastor not teach the history of the doctrine of the Trinity?

An old friend invited me to his church, so I went. The whole thing was about the trinity, and I believe the guy that was explaining had some things he was selling you could by (I could be wrong but I do remember the display using a projector to get his points across) it was very boring, and uninteresting to me personally but shook guys and at the end of the service and told him thank you.

I really like bible verse by verse teachings backed with history and also other scriptures to get whatever they may come across to be able to make sense. I haven't been to a bible verse by verse teaching here in area cause its rare to find.

Trinity is just the best term for something we can't understand. It's an inadequate term. God is not limited by our definitions or understanding of him.

Oh. To heck with those people who are lost then?

No. Love the lost, dine with the lost, offer the lost the genuine, the true, Christ.

A false Christ has no ability to save anyone. Don’t unite with a false Christ.

I would happily attend a church service dedicated to teaching about the Trinity. Such services occur but are extremely rare.

What could a trinitarian pastor offer me that I would buy? I don’t know, but I’d be very interested to find out. I taught the doctrine of the Trinity. If there is something about the history of the doctrine that I’ve missed along the way then I’d be grateful to learn about it.

You’re point about boring shouldn’t be overlooked. The average person (trinitarian and non-trinitarian) does find the subject boring.

I’ve attended theological conferences with some of the “biggest names” in trinitarianism. An industrious person could locate photographs of me with these famous men. None of us were bleeding or wearing bandages. We were able to get along with one another. I’ve engaged in written correspondence with a few of the lesser known among them. On the whole, they were cordial.

That environment is entirely different than the environment typical of an internet discussion forum.

“Trinity” isn’t a term that is biblically applicable to the one God of Israel.

The one God of Israel - Yahweh - is the Father alone.

How and where can that be confirmed?

I would have just like have heard a Bible verse by verse and get something either milk or meat. You seem like a person who avidly seeks for things about the trinity?

Depends on your answer. I’m bored though now. Time to get some sleep. :)

Depends on your answer.

My answer is that Church history - which is where the doctrine of the Trinity comes from - should matter. My point is that it doesn’t typically matter to trinitarians (nor to non-trinitarians).

I’m bored though now.

The fear of the trinitarian clergy - pews filled with people who pay his salary, bored by the subject matter of his sermon.

Time to get some sleep. :)

… because I just stated it what I believe it is.

So please let’s just leave it at that…

I don’t care if a person believes God is a woman and they believe God sent his son who died on the cross and rose again…

Im not here to check people’s knowledge am I? Maybe I am? Maybe I’m a cynical lunatic who is losing his mind @Matthias.

Thanks.

In all the different denominations I've been in, I don't remember the Trinity being taught. There were references to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit but I don't ever remember an exclusive sermon or lesson on the Trinity. I referred to it but I don't think I ever taught it.

People have reasons for believing whatever it is that they believe. I was inquiring about yours.

So please let’s just leave it at that…

See below.

You don’t care. I do care.

I don’t know why you’re here. People have their reasons for being where they are, and sometimes they don’t care to discuss them.

Rlt, did you ever have King James Bible, and look in the concordance section and find the trinity posted there with a few verses? That was one of my first exposures to it anyway no one ever told me about it until I found out about it later in life that is something people will debate and fight about.

That’s common practice among the trinitarian pastors I’ve spoken with. Some were associated with denominations which have a liturgical calendar which calls for them to preach a sermon about the Trinity on a particular day each year. Some of them called it “Trinity Sunday”.

The $64,000 question: Is believing (or not believing) in the Trinity a salvation issue?

In other words, does it matter?
