Yes. I hadn't read it, but now that I have I think what I just posted #340, might answer it. Once you've studied it, is there anything I didn't address?

Jesus doesn't cover our sins.
I disagree with you there; on the basis that all scripture is inspired of the Lord and is profitable for doctrine (2 Timothy 3:16); because there is scripture that tells us that Jesus does indeed cover our sins (in Romans 4:7-8).
"As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us."I disagree with you there; on the basis that all scripture is inspired of the Lord and is profitable for doctrine (2 Timothy 3:16); because there is scripture that tells us that Jesus does indeed cover our sins (in Romans 4:7-8).
Lol...you actually looked that up!Amazingly a troller managed to keep this thread going.
It says on my computer screen Page 17 of 17.
I consider this a record by all troller standards.
Let's discuss post 330.Yes. I hadn't read it, but now that I have I think what I just posted #340, might answer it. Once you've studied it, is there anything I didn't address?
Love to. First read #340 so we know what each other already believes. Okay?Let's discuss post 330.
However I think that 1 John 1:8 tells us that if we were to ever come to that place in our walk, we would not be aware of the fact that we are without sin
I think I already shared my testimony with you of the night I went from no control over my sin, to no more desire to sin. It was so dramatic, that I could not deny it. I was completely aware that the desire was gone. That is when I was born again. Freedom from sin is freedom from the desire to sin. Jesus took that desire away from me by creating a new nature and separating it in me from my old nature. We are not in the flesh but in the Spirit when the Spirit of God indwells us. Romans 8:9. We just need to stay in the Spirit, and obey Paul's command to not quench the Spirit. Ever since 1977 I've been conscious of His presence in me.
1 John 1:7 is a Christian. They walk in the Light, or Spirit, because they have already been born again. The key to being born again is REPENT Acts 2:38, which is the same as verse 1 John 1:9. It only needs to happen once to be reborn. It is not a vicious cycle of sin, repent, sin, repent. You may get the gist by reading in the Good News For Modern Man.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and there is no truth in us. 9 (But) if we confess our sins to God, he will keep his promise and do what is right: he will forgive us our sins and purify us from all our wrongdoing.
It is a before and after.
I would like you to elaborate on how 1 John 1:8 does not apply to believers in a more concise manner, so that we can all see clearly how it does not apply to believers.
You can indeed be aware of such a thing; but to be aware of sin being eradicated would be a violation of 1 John 1:8 impaho.
Okay, now add verse 6. God is light (5), so if we SAY that we have God who is light, but walk in darkness, do we really have God? Bf, I'm trying to help you see that John is making a contrast here. Verse 9 is the key to walking in the light. The person in verse 6 has never repented. And all of us were born with sin. To say, as in verse 10 that we were not born with sin, then we don't know we need to repent; that we don't need Christ.
So, if 1 John 1:8 is referring to darkness, is it not saying that those who say that they have no sin are walking in darkness?1 John 1 has the writing style of contrasts. That is why verse 8 and 10, thought almost saying the same thing, is separated by verse 9, even though verse 9 would also apply to verse 10.
I'm sure you've seen this before. I've posted it so many times I can't see how you could have missed it. You can easily see that 6, 8 and 10 are darkness - no light in them. They are only SAYING they are without sin, but have never been born again.
Verses:
5 - LIGHT
6 - darkness
7 - LIGHT
8 - darkness
9 - LIGHT
10 - darkness
1 john 1:8, as the rest of the chapter is not about the Christian, but about them apostles, them who have seen with their eyes, which have looked upon, and their hands have handled, concerning the Word of life ~ Jesus Christ.@CharismaticLady, I would like you to elaborate on how 1 John 1:8 does not apply to believers in a more concise manner, so that we can all see clearly how it does not apply to believers.
I am almost there...I see it in holy scripture that we can indeed be without sin...
However I think that 1 John 1:8 tells us that if we were to ever come to that place in our walk, we would not be aware of the fact that we are without sin (Job 9:21, John 9:41, Isaiah 42:19 (kjv), Philippians 3:12-15) and that because of this we would never say that we have no sin (1 John 1:8).
So, if 1 John 1:8 is referring to darkness, is it not saying that those who say that they have no sin are walking in darkness?
I believe that this is talking about when the Holy Spirit pinpoints sin in your life and you deny that what He is calling sin, is sin.
If He is not pinpointing sin in your life, you may indeed be without sin; but you wouldn't know that you are without sin (Job 9:21, John 9:41, Isaiah 42:19, Philippians 3:12-15) because you would consider that sin is merely rendered dead within you and that this is the reason why you have no desire to sin. If you crossed the line and said that the reason why you don't have the desire to sin is because sin has been eradicated from your flesh, your saying that would mean that you are deceiving yourself and the truth is not in you. And this is the darkness that 1 John 1:8 is speaking of.
Because we can resist the Holy Spirit by denying that we have sinned when He is pinpointing the sin in our lives.

Yes, John there was declaring to those to whom he writes, what they (that is, they who are apostles of Christ, who have seen, heard, looked, touched), that is that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to them apostles. And he does so that they (them to whom he writes to) may have fellowship with them, who have true fellowship with the Father and the Son.No, you missed a key part.
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life— 2 the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us— 3 that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. 4 And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.
The rest is to John's congregation that is a mixture of saved and unsaved.
