Pre-trib would make a distinction between tribulation that comes from the world and tribulation that comes from God. We are not exempt from tribulation that comes from the world, but we are exempt from tribulation (judgement) that comes from God. There's plenty of examples in the Bible that demonstrate this.
Who was the Book of Matthew written to? It wasn't to the gentiles, and the church didn't exist yet. It was written primarily to a Jewish audience. Regardless, there has been a partial fulfillment of this within the past two thousand years.
#1 I would agree though we would disagree when God's wrath begins
#2 "Saints" like "elect" can mean different things. You believe it refers to the church, I do not.
We KNOW it pertains to His People/the Church/the Saints because JESUS and the Apostles clearly said so!#2 "Saints" like "elect" can mean different things. You believe it refers to the church, I do not.
We also know it pertains to the Jewish people whom God FOREKNEW, the same people HE will soon Judge and SAVE
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To the saints who are in Ephesus, and are faithful in Christ Jesus:
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,
To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ who are in Colosse:
Greet all the saints in Christ Jesus. The brothers who are with me send you greetings.
JESUS says His Church are the saints: Revelation 14:12
Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.
JESUS says His Bride/Church are the 'elect of God' - John 6:44
Jesus therefore answered and said to them, “Do not murmur among yourselves. No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.
1 Peter 1
To the pilgrims of the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ:
Grace to you and peace be multiplied.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
