I was too young to understand Vietnam. And I never looked into the history of it.
From what I understand, there again are two sides, in this case the North and the South.
One side was looking to control all of the country. And began warring with the other half.
Was it Russia who funded one side and the US who funded the other side, thus making Vietnam a proxy war between US and Russia?
Even though the two bigger states were controlling the events, there was still a civil war raging within?
I have been learning more about Ukraine and Russia in the last 2 weeks, then I know about half the States in my own country.
This civil war inside Ukraine has been going on for many years. In 2014 the US sent the western side ammunitions and funds to fight against the eastern side. Now Russia is supporting the eastern side.
So once again, is this not another Vietnam? and Ukraine is being used as the proxy? Even though the original civil war is still raging within?
As far as the biolabs are concerned, wasn't it Vietnam where agent orange was used on our troops?
Biological weapons have been used for a long time too.
And who released the agent orange, US or Vietnam?

No it was not a civil war. North Vietnam was Communist whereas South Vietnam was not. The North wanted to make all of Vietnam Communist, and at that time the USA did not want to see the expansion of Communism in SE Asia. The "Domino Theory" postulated that if one SE Asian country fell to the Communists, the others would also fall like dominoes. The USA allied itself with South Vietnam, but what it did not factor in was the guerilla warfare of the Communists. This was not a conventional war at all, and in the end all of Vietnam became Communist. The problem was that the government of South Vietnam was corrupt and did not operate on democratic principles. Whereas the Communists were dedicated to Communism.

(CNSNews.com) – The Biden administration’s assertion that an Iranian ballistic missile attack on Erbil in northern Iraq had not targeted a U.S. Consulate under construction there prompted a scornful response from Senate Republicans, one of whom suggested the administration was “living in an alternative universe.”
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced it had fired the missiles, but said they had targeted an Israeli spy facility – a claim little credence by the government of the Kurdish autonomous region.
Several of the barrage of up to 12 missiles landed near the new 51-acre U.S. Consulate compound, which is not yet complete or operational.
“No U.S. facilities were damaged or personnel injured, and we have no indications the attack was directed at the United States,” State Department spokesman Ned Price said in a statement.
“We do not believe that the consulate was actually the target of this missile attack,” Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman told “Fox News Sunday.”
“We are very glad that our facilities are secure, that everybody’s accounted for, that no one has been hurt or killed. But all of that said, this is great concern,” she said, adding that the missile strike was “an attack on Iraq’s sovereignty.’
Host Bret Baier noted that the administration was close to reaching an agreement in Vienna – in talks also involving Russia and others – to bring the U.S. and Iran back into compliance with the 2015 nuclear deal, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
“You can understand the disconnect for the average American watching this happening,” he said. “As we’re sitting at a table not only with the Iranians but the Russians in Vienna, we are getting fired upon by Iran. You’re saying the target wasn’t the U.S. Consulate, but that’s where [the missiles] ended up.”
“It’s hard to understand, I appreciate that,” Sherman said. “But here’s the deal: If Iran has a nuclear weapon, its ability to project power into the Middle East and to deter us, our allies and partners,
is enormous.”
Also appearing on the show was Sen. Jim Risch (R-Idaho), ranking member on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
“I feel like the administration is living in an alternative universe from where we are,” he said. “I heard Wendy try to excuse the Iranians that, well, they didn’t really intend to shoot at – at our embassy [sic] there in Iraq. What else were they shooting at?”
Recalling Sherman’s remarks about the need to get a nuclear deal finalized quickly, Risch said it sounded as though the missile attack “had exactly the effect that the Iranians wanted.”

The number dwarfed the 67 executions reported there in all of 2021 and the 27 in 2020.
Offences ranged from joining militant groups to holding “deviant beliefs”, the kingdom’s interior ministry said in a statement.
The ministry did not say how the executions, which took place on Saturday, were carried out.
The kingdom also said the executed included members of al-Qaida, the so-called Islamic State group and backers of Yemen's Houthi rebels, the latter of which have been at bitter war with Saudi Arabia for over six years.

The Saudi Press agency said that the accused were “provided with the right to an attorney and were guaranteed their full rights under Saudi law during the judicial process”.
The accused were executed after being found guilty of “committing multiple heinous crimes that left a large number of civilians and law enforcement officers dead,” the Saudi Press agency said.
The agency added: “The kingdom will continue to take a strict and unwavering stance against terrorism and extremist ideologies that threaten the stability of the entire world.”
The number of executions even surpassed that of January 1980 when 63 militants were put to death for seizing the Grand Mosque in Mecca, Saudi Arabia’s holiest city and place of pilgrimage, in 1979.
The kingdom’s last mass execution came in January 2016 when 47 people were executed, including a prominent opposition Shia cleric who had rallied demonstrations.
