Ok well I have done work for God and His Kingdom and it has never occurred to me that it might be lukewarm - you're right that works also must be hot or cold, but I think you are being heavy handed suggesting that I should have thought of that already?

I repent. My works should have been colder (but that's exactly why I started this thread?)

Okay.

Before you make a judgment of your work for God's kingdom. Please allow me to explain what Revelation 3:15-16 actually talked about. Yes, its pretty lengthy but you should take some time reading and pray for wisdom of Christ:

First, we need to understand that we, Christians, are God's prophets. I know that the word prophet, in Scripture, is most certainly NOT exclusive to "future prophecy" as many/most modern Christians believe. In Scripture, the prophets did speak as the MOUTHPIECE of God receiving His Word and then speaking His Words again to the people of Israel. We know that God could personally speak to the people anytime He wants, but this is NOT the methodology that God normally uses. He uses HIS PEOPLE, as prophets to bring His Word into our mouths. This is also why we are called witnesses (Two Witnesses of Revelation 11) to His Word. This is also what the phrase "Messengers of God" entails, that we are brining messages directly from God. A prophet was/is the person who testifies of what is NOT his own words, but of what God has spoken or in written Word. We need to understand that God's Word at the messenger's mouth. Right in our mouths because we represents Him and His kingdom. Just as the Lord raise up Moses to be His prophet, and we also are prophets in Christ, and we also speak in His name the Words of His Mouth. Get it so far? Now, let read the verses:

Revelation 3:15-16
  • "I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
  • So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth."
Because God's Word is characterized by that which is Hot and Cold! And we, as representatives and messengers of God's Word, we are to bring it HOT or COLD, never lukewarm, never compromised.

Hot or Cold refers to the Word because the Word is their works, the fruit of their lips as messengers of God. it is what we were commissioned to preach BECAUSE we are sent as ambassadors or emissaries of God. And the message we are sent with is His Word at our mouth, as they are in effect extensions of God's mouth. We are His Witnesses, the ones who works are to bring the World the Gospel! Selah! This is why we have the Holy Spirit within us, so whatever we speak through our mouth, from our heart, we speak on behalf of God!

So, if you read the context here, there are MANY professed Christians who were obviously not bringing it exactly the way that it comes out of God's mouth. This confirmed as God declares that because their works (bringing the Gospel) were not HOT or COLD but lukewarm, He would spew (vomit) them out of His mouth. You may wondered how are the works of the messengers of God doing in His mouth? Clearly, it is because their works are bringing HIS WORD! For example, His Word right in our mouths. it is cryptic imagery signifying that we are God's mouthpiece on Earth, His Sword of the Spirit, those who bear witness or speak His word from our mouths. But because their Word isn't pure HOT or COLD, as God's Word IS, God will vomit it out of His mouth because their witness doesn't belong coming from god's mouth. Let take a look in the Old Testament where God said:

Jeremiah 5:13-14
  • "And the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them: thus shall it be done unto them.
  • Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them."
This is how the Lord's Word is in our mouths! This is how it is HOT (as fire) representing the Lord's judgment. Or in other places COLD, as representing the Lord's Grace as the salvation in cool water. Selah! So if we claim to be Lord's mouthpiece, and yet are NOT, then that is the imagery of God vomiting or spewing our works from His mouth as "a witness or word" not belonging there. This is an example of a false prophet speaking lies. So, a faithful witness is INDEED the work of the messenger of God that should be either HOT or COLD but rather than Lukewarm.

Now allow me to give you some example of what HOT and COLD really refers to:

Judges 10:6-7
  • "And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and forsook the LORD, and served not him.
  • And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hands of the Philistines, and into the hands of the children of Ammon."
The hot signifies God's judgment upon them "because" of their sins. This is the witness that is missing in our Churches today. Many churches are no longer the hot, the Lord's warning of judgment, or the cold, that salvation is only for the elect, only a lukewarm word wherein no one takes heed. The word Hot today is considered unloving, harsh, judgmental, Cruel, hypocritical, etc., when in reality it is merely God's word spoken exactly the way it came from His mouth.

If the work we do, the word we come with, is not His word (Hot or cold) of judgment or redemption, but our own personal blend (lukewarm) that allows people with clear conscience to live within their own personal "comfort level," then it doesn't belong in God's mouth as His word!. Therefore will He vomit those bringing it out of "His mouth" because they are not keeping the faithful Testimony or Witnesses of His word.

So to answer my question for you and everyone else is the difference between those of the Church He speaks to whose works are neither hot or cold, but lukewarm, and those whose works are hot or cold, is that one witnesses God's word at God's mouth, and the other puts his own words into God's mouth. Thus he shall be vomited out as messenger of God's word. Hot or cold, judgment or Salvation, as opposed to lukewarm words of ye shall have Peace, or don't worry you won't be judged, or God would want you to be happy, etc., etc. God's word is hot also, and all the prophets always brought it that way. Again:

Jeremiah 5:14
  • "Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them."
The Prophet spoke a word that was a word of judgment. There is the definition of the Prophet (mouthpiece) of God, doing his work bringing God's word hot, because He comes speaking God's word of judgment. Likewise, when we come with the cool waters of salvation, it is our work of bringing His word cold.

Matthew 10:41-42
  • "He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.
  • And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward."
The word cold here is [psuchros], the same as in Revelation. Both referring to the word of refreshing of the gospel that we bring. God's word from His mouth "we" extend to the people. For example, it is a warning not to put words in God's mouth that are not His. Which we are seeing so many Christians doing in our day. They don't like the Hot or cold Word, they want to make the gospel more comfortable and palatable to the masses. They may say, "you don't have to do any work, you shall still have peace", "you can violate God's law because God is love", "you have Grace, so don't worry about sin", and on and on. Lukewarm doesn't belong as coming from His mouth at all! So He will spew (vomit) it out as a testimony against those professing Christians who need to make their calling and election sure.

Ezekiel 22:28
  • "And her prophets have daubed them with untempered morter, seeing vanity, and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the Lord GOD, when the LORD hath not spoken."
That's why we need to be careful with our testimony or witnesses not to fell into lukewarm or our words will end up NOT being Lord's Word like many false prophets and christs out there in churches today. A lukewarm word so that people may be comfortable in the sin and their "alleged" salvation. They come with a convoluted word that is not a word from God's mouth.

Does this help?

I would like to point out that many professing Christians present beliefs that are appealing and easy for people to accept, often being neither passionate nor completely dismissive. This trend stems from the unfaithfulness of pastors and leaders in the Church today. There is a great apostasy that has come over the Churches and it started because the people's works were neither hot nor cold. You ever notice Christians today seldom make an Absolute statement anymore? I've never seen so many Christians so unsure of anything as I do today. For example like.... "It's always, I believe this, but it could be just the opposite", or "I believe God created the world, but evolution seems to fit in too", or "I believe in Amillennialism, but Premillennialism has some good points too", "I believe in permanent and lifelong marriage, but I think there are circumstances where it is OK for it not to be permanent", Free Will, Roman Catholicism, Homosexuality, salvation for non Christians, etc. NOTHING has an "actual" answer anymore. There's always a compromise in everything, and with every passing generation it gets worse, with the new leaders being a lot more compromising than the last. The point being, it all starts with a small crack, a little leak in the dike that is never repaired, and allowed to grow until the flow is unstoppable. That's how compromise works! Once it starts, its end is inevitable. The church today, once faithful representative of God, has become a new Babylon. Just like the Old Testament Israel congregation did:

Jeremiah 5:27-31
  • "As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich.
  • They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge.
  • Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
  • A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land;
  • The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?"

Compare with the New Testament Congregation:

Revelation 18:2-5

  • And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
  • For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
  • And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
  • For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.
Judgment will come upon the unfaithful New Testament congregation, the church, just like God did with the Old Testament congregation. DejaVu!

I get that the message in our mouths is supposed to be hot or cold, too.

I have a cold faith, that's all I know.

No. Cold faith is NOT what scripture talked about. You made the term up.
But I have faith (and it's colder than it was).

I don't know if anyone has ever told you this, but "scripture" is not something you 'police'.

If you want to get someone's attention, show them "inspiration" that you find in 'scripture'.

LOL. Listen, what is the biblical definition of cold faith (and hot faith)? Where do you find that in Scripture exactly?!

Oh you want some inspiration? Here you go... if you receive it.

2Ti 3:16
(16) All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Sounds like you don't want to be corrected for your false doctrine of "cold faith", instead you want "inspiration" or respect your choice of term that does not exist in Scripture.

No, the truth is you do not have a biblical definition for "cold faith" in Scripture. I see that you have not explained what exactly is cold faith after being asked many times. And no, Revelation 3:15 does not talk about "cold faith," you do not seem to understand fully what is cold and hot, God is talking about here.

I told you what it was, it was a choice.

You don't seem to think I should have a choice about how I interpret scripture?

A choice on how you interpret Scripture? Really?!

Don't you know how to allow Scripture to interpret itself, exactly what God says, instead wanting to have a "choice" to interpret Scripture into something more palatable, more comfortable, or more acceptable to fit your flawed doctrine?

Once again, what is the biblical definition of cold faith? And no, Revelation 3:15-16 is not about a choice to have "cold faith" or "hot faith" because this is not what the verses talked about. Do you even know what is cold and hot the Lord talked about here?

There is a possibility that you are lukewarm - if that choice (hot or cold) means nothing to you, Jesus will be forced to act as He said.

"Scripture can interpret itself" in either a hot or cold way - Jesus is not making this hard, He is reminding you it is necessary.

You do not make any sense and still stonewalled to explain what your "cold faith" means. LOL.

I have placed you on the ignore list!

Wish you the best

It's easier on those that want to make sense, if those that think others "have to" make sense choose to go out.

I stand by what I said: "hot or cold is a choice, faith is sticking to one or the other"

The Devil will actually resist you, if you choose one or the other (hot or cold).

The Devil is lukewarm.

Imagine what it would be like if all the hot churches confessed not being hot enough and all the cold churches confessed not doing enough cold works?
