Growing up.

Were you robbed of your identity growing up?

I wasn’t Born Again not until my 30s.....that’s when I started seeing with those spiritual eyes and ears , when I became Born Of The Spirit.....then I had to face all those past years that I had, had muck and rubbish fed into me by my parents.

Who were crippled in ignorance plus tunnel vision...

Lord if you hadn’t come along when you did, I don’t believe I would be here today....I know your Love in my heart that you have for me, never felt so secure in all my life, all that suffering was worth it, because you came into my heart through it all..,,in Jesus Name..Amen!

I was born in an oven, but thankfully didn’t make me a turkey. It just has taken years to not dwell in the past. I plan to stay in the present now. My kids need that and I need that. As a Christian, our identity is in Christ. We only need His validation and we only need to set our eyes on Him.

I went to church all my life growing up. Whatever church bus came by our house is the church I would go to. (We moved alot so I attended a lot of different denominational churches). Finally, my stepdad inherited some land and put a house on it and from then on I attended the AoG until I was 25. I got saved when I was 7 but didn't understand what salvation really meant until I turned 24. Until then I was always going to the front to get "saved" again because I had sinned that week. I became so upset and discouraged with myself for being so weak and unable to resist temptation that I cried to God and said "this Christianity thing is too hard...no matter how hard I try I always seem to mess up...I give up because there is no hope for me to ever make it to heaven due to sin". (Explanation...my church taught hell, fire, and brimstone...that you could lose your salvation if you sin after getting saved.)
But....I learned something new about salvation that day. It's in my testimony and it's long so I can post the link if you want to read it.

But your point of being robbed of our identity is right on. I was way into my 50's before I finally understood who I am and to accept my flaws and everything and then I finally quit hating myself and began to love who I am...that was important because until then it was difficult to love my neighbor as myself (if you can't love yourself how can you love your neighbor?). So now I know my identity and who I am IN CHRIST!!!!

I am still fathoming out what this means if I am honest.
if any ladies feels like making a list of who we are *In Christ* feel ❤️because I have not yet read all of the bible (just the 4 gospels and some of Roamans and some Ephesians) and even though I don't feel the need seek approval of from others I am still at a loss to what half the bible speaks about when it speaks of who we are and what exactly it means.

I guess the only thing I felt robbed of, was not being directed to live the way the bible says.

I grew up quite liberal. Nothing bad, (my mum died when I was 11 and was always in and out of hospital so I never knew or bonded with her, and my dad was very kind but worked full time to make ends meet, and my sister and brother we all got on well and had a good life, but I was left behind being the youngest.
I have no animosity toward my parents or siblings, but I wish I had a life fulled with godly direction as I became a bit of a rebel and went out clubbing at 16 but wish had some motherly direction instead. ( my dad, God Bless him did his best and provided for us all) but nothing beats motherly care.

The word takes time to understand Sis, there is much of the inspired word, that I don’t understand as well.

God has shown me not to put pressure on myself....every thing is in his timing and his strength..

@LittleTuneAlright ...also remember Sis....God looks at the heart...not all the Bible knowledge that we have.

We are called to seek him out ,with all of our heart, mind and soul...for there is where we will find him.

Jeremiah 29:13
Audio Cross Study Comm Heb
Verse (Click for Chapter)
New International Version
You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

New Living Translation
If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.

English Standard Version
You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.

Berean Standard Bible
You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

King James Bible
And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

New King James Version
And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.
