You say the GB are appointed, yet they are in charge of the Watchtower magazine. They have made many, very serious errors. If you say the only reason they are true is because they fix their errors, then might I remind you of the protestant churches. The reason we have so many different denominations is precisely because of people trying to correct errors.

So what makes your denomination true when it has been wrong many times in the past on very important issues (by their own admission), and disagrees with the vast majority of other denominations on fundamental truths?

You didn't answer any of my questions. We're not disagreeing that you have to obey Jesus. We're disagreeing that the GB/Watchtower has been appointed by God. So answer my questions.

Did we not do that?" - that is going to be you. You're going to say to the Lord "but I did many good deeds Lord!" And he will say to you "depart from me, I never knew you"

Now I absolutely agree that true saving faith results in obedience. But it's not your works that save you. Rather, because you are saved, you will do good works. Do you see the difference?

Ephesians 2:8-9. For it is by grace (meaning undeserved favour) you have been saved, through faith (meaning trust), and NOT BY WORKS, lest any man should boast.

To further this point, there are many people in Islam who believe their good deeds will save them. They believe in helping the poor, praying 5 times a day, and fasting. The Pharisees also believed it was their works that saved them.

But your works will never be enough to save you. The only thing that can save you is Christ's sacrifice. His UNDESERVED favour. His grace.

I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing! - Galatians 2:21

You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. - Galatians 5:4

Do you see the difference? One trusts in Christ's sacrifice alone, which produces good works. The other trusts in their good works.

If you think his grace means you're given a free excuse to sin, then it just proves that you want to keep sinning deep down, and haven't repented.

If you want God to judge you based on what you have done, then because you have sinned, he will have to punish you. Because if God is good, he has to punish evil. He can't only judge the good things you have done, and ignore the bad. A price must be paid. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

So instead of being self-righteous and trusting in your own good works, you must humble yourself, realize you are completely helpless without God's grace, recognize your sin, repent of it, and trust solely in what Christ has done for you.

1 John 1:6 - If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.

Or in other words, if you claim to believe in Jesus and what he has done for you, and yet continue living a sinful life, then you're lying to yourself and to God.

Because how can you believe your sins deserve death and continue in them? You believe they deserve death when you believe Jesus died for them.

What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2 By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? - Romans 6:1-2

Therefore repentance is necessary for salvation. But repenting of sin is not works.
