Hi there,

So I want to pray by example here, that other people who struggle with the flesh might know the way out, that the Holy Spirit gave. I sinned. That's the short of it. But the problem became that I held on to my sin. My flesh was enlarged, by the pleasure and I ceased to know a way out. I was too weak to cut off, the offending member and was destined for Hell. Sin kept me chained to death and my flesh gorged itself on Hell, puffing up and puffing up. That's when praying to the Holy Spirit helped.

The Holy Spirit helped me to realise that when it comes to sin, of all the things I could focus on, on the Cross, Christ being pierced was the most important. Christ being pierced represented the appetite of the flesh (for Hell) being stopped in its tracks, and the fulness of it, being weakened (that is, given a "hole" through which Hell could escape). If Christ had not been pierced, His flesh might have raged against Him, before He was resurrected. For a resurrection to be whole, the flesh has to be "dead". Piercing ensures that the flesh is dead to Hell.

So what is it when we see the Holy Spirit pierce us? It is us imagining ourselves on the Cross, where Christ WAS and receiving the piercing we deserve. We may have sinned differently to Christ, but the message is the same: Hell needs a release, or our torment will continue. If we see the hole in Christ, or in ourselves or in the world, that hole will be our salvation, it will free us from the appetite of the flesh for Hell. We may never have enough, but if it keeps leaking from us, eventually we will be numb and then dead to it. Don't let the flesh in sin, get the upper hand!

It is important not to rush. You are supposed to trust the purpose, until the resurrection of the flesh works its way out, in God. If God has received you, while you are dead to the flesh, you will see clearly in the Holy Spirit, what to do next: what to avoid, what to run from, what to fight against. This is the empowering nature of interpreting the Cross, the way the Holy Spirit does - all happening within the moment.

I hope this has been of some encouragement.

God bless.
