Thank you.
I didn't sleep last night I kept ice on my leg and used a TENS unit in between icing.
I made it to work today but not doing real good. At least I'm working.
I was in peak shape at 33. I have pictures. I wish I could go back. I'll be 61 in December I was getting back in shape but my facet joints are diseased and my knees need replacingI have a 64 year old friend who broke his femur, he has to use a walker now. I talked to him the first time in forever the day before yesterday. I told him, at least your moving around and healing a little I said one day we will get a new spiritual body and go eat with Abraham, and he’ll be able to eat with him mom, and everything will be a lot better knowing that’s the future to look forward to, while our bodies break down here…
Hope if anything that gives you encouragement because while we are here we continue to build up spiritual treasures even while this body starts to act up. 33 is my age now and man it felt a lot better when I was 18.
How does knee replacements work in the US, I mean do you qualify to have them automatically ?I was in peak shape at 33. I have pictures. I wish I could go back. I'll be 61 in December I was getting back in shape but my facet joints are diseased and my knees need replacing
I have insurance, I just got an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon. He gave me a shot but said my knees are bone on bone. How does knee replacements work in the US, I mean do you qualify to have them automatically ?
I feel for you as I started getting knee and hip problems in my early 60’s, my job as a housekeeper in a care home created the problems. Then in my last year my meniscus in my right knee was damaged, and arthritis in my left hip started at the same time. Also at night, after a shift, as soon as I laid down to sleep my legs would ache and I would get random nerve pains.
I hated going to work as I knew it would be pushing my knee and hip, so after a few hours I would get pain. I use to do a lot of walking, bending, ect
I ended up going off sick and I retired a few months earlier than I officially should have, thankfully I qualified for financial support. My knee has settled down , although the other knee is also problematic now. The pains in my leg have gone - so that was definitely work related, so has much of the anxiety I use to get at night.
If it’s bone on bone I would think you should qualify , I used a knee brace but it didn’t help when I was on my feet for so long. So is the nerve pain linked to your knee and will the replacement fix that pain as well ?I have insurance, I just got an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon. He gave me a shot but said my knees are bone on bone.
I have a knee brace that works great it's the nerve pain that's killing me.
I go to a neurosurgeon on the 17th for him to look at my MRI and advise if he thinks I need surgery
No the knees are a separate issue. I will have to have a replacement in both knees eventually, but they are not nearly as painful as the nerve pain and I have braces that work great. If it’s bone on bone I would think you should qualify , I used a knee brace but it didn’t help when I was on my feet for so long. So is the nerve pain linked to your knee and will the replacement fix that pain as well ?
My daughter is 43 and had a hip replacement 4 months ago, she was bone on bone and had nerve pain, thankfully the op was successful and most of the pain has gone. X
I don't know how long your State Disability will cover you. Thanks for the prayers. I'm just trying to cover all the bases in case they don't let me come back to work.
I'm trying not to worry, get anxious or depressed. None of that will help or change anything.
I'm looking into other jobs and how to apply for disability if the surgery doesn't fix the problem.
I'm counting on God to get me through this. Thanks again for the prayers
I'm applying for short term disability with my insurance that will cover me for 90 days, I have long term disability if I need to go beyond that and I probably would get a lawyer to help apply for SSI DisabilityI don't know how long your State Disability will cover you.
If you are still unable to work due to your condition, then you can apply for Social Security Disability. Most people get a lawyer to help them get on it. And sometimes it takes applying a couple of times. A lawyer will handle it for you and take a percentage of what you are retroactively awarded.
What happens to you American folk when you can’t work and you lose your insurance?RFA didn't work, been to Urgent Care twice this week, just praying that I'm able to work
What happens to you American folk when you can’t work and you lose your insurance?
Are you left without help?
I am a member of the Huntington’s Disease community online and I am appalled to find that there is little help for the carers of Huntington’s patients. Some have to work to pay their bills, which means leaving a very disabled person at home to fend for themselves, whilst their spouse has to leave to go to work. They are prone to falls and choking, so no one would know what they are coming home to.
People with money can get whatever they are willing to pay for, but those with limited funds, it seems are thrown to the wolves.
That would not happen in Australia. All workers pay into a “Medicare levy” whereby all who need medical help and who cannot pay, can access it free of charge, using this fund.
We also have an NHS which provides medication at an affordable price. I have heard of people in the US having to sell their homes to pay for medical treatment....and if the treatment is unsuccessful, they die penniless with nothing to leave their children for lifetime of hard work. So unfair to reward a wealthy system by penalising the poor.
Carers are provided with a pension, which is sufficient to cover their basic needs so that they don’t have to leave a disabled person at home alone.
I have never seen such a heartless system in my life.....no money, no treatment or help? So sad....you can pay thousands of dollars (even hundreds of thousands) for treatments that have a poor success rate, but they won’t fund alternative treatments that have proven successful in other countries. The almighty dollar rules the world....(1 Tim 6:9-10)
