it must be miserable not knowing if you will make it or not..
Prior to my conversion several years ago while still attending the Roman Catholic church, I had absolutely no assurance of salvation and was miserable! Upon my conversion, I finally found assurance of salvation. Praise the Lord! :D

1 John 5:11 - And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

If people would study John.. they would have that assurance.

as he also said, I write these things to you show you may know you HAVE eternal life..

1 Corinthians 1:18 - For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
I just don;t get it

The OT required animal sacrifice for forgiveness.

But God changed his mind.. In the NT we just have to be good and ask forgiveness

Now see one of the OSAS peoples will come along and say this is trying to earn salvation or some othere doofus comment!
IF that be so…why not be patient and SEE IF that be so….instead of making up some doofus comment and upchucking that accusation toward another?
… whose BELIEF IS ONCE Gods SANCTIFIES a person, God has faithfully fulfilled His Promise to that person OF Forgiveness, Of soul restoration, of Spirit quickening, of Sealing…AND DOES NOT undo His fulfilled Promises.

Perhaps you could QUOTE Scripture of God Fulfilling Promises and then Undoing His fulfilled Promises.

Hummm?

we must continue in HIM to the end .
“WE”….WHO”…?

“WHO” must endure, keep following, keep continuing?

THAT “WHO” is a person operating under, by, of, through “his own POWER”.

And ….endure, keep, follow, continue, must, IS A WARNING TO a Person WHO IS operating, under, by, of, through…
“his OWN Power’.
(THAT is a WARNING….BECAUSE the World IS FULL of EVIL spirits and powerful WICKED men, searching the world FOR men they CAN “OVER-POWER”….

THAT ^ “WE” is an UNCONVERTED BELIEVER!

A CONVERTED BELIEVER IS operating, by, of, through, the “POWER OF GOD” “IN him”!

No.
True BELIEF in ones Heart is REQUIRED…
(That is the REQUIRED Works a man CAN DO, or not.)

Confession of TRUE BELIEF in ones HEART is the SERVICE that is REQUIRED (while still alive in ones flesh) to RECEIVE “forgiveness” of SIN (having had NOT Believed in the Lord God), RECEIVE a restored (saved) soul, RECEIVE a quickened spirit (born again) spirit, RECEIVE a new heart (circumcision), RECEIVE Gods SEED (Christ) in his new heart, RECEIVE Gods Spirit of Truth (Jesus) in his new heart. Thereafter…
Prepared to RECEIVE Gods UNDERSTANDING of His Word…
Prepared to Speak the Word of God for others to Hear.

Believers are not in darkness but are in the light.

Acts 26:18 - to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.

2 Corinthians 6:14 - Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?

Ephesians 5:8 - for you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light.

1 John 1:6 - If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. Walking in darkness is descriptive of children of the devil. Walking in the light is descriptive of children of God.

In 1 John 2:9, we read - He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now. In vs. 11 - But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

*Compare with 1 John 3:10 - In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, (compare with 1 John 1:6 - does not practice the truth) nor is he who does not love his brother. *Notice that "walks in darkness, hates his brother" is descriptive of "children of the devil."
Yes we are transformed into the light but we must stay walking in the light to the the end of our walk here on earth if we lose sight of the light then we have walked away from God to the pleasures of the world. That is why we are told over and over to beware and continue in the light. If we are a true seeker of truth we can not ignore the warnings found in scripture we must trust that the word is true and have faith God said what he meant. We are in the light but we can turn it off according to Gods word.

1 John 1:8 - If we say that we have no sin, (present tense) we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, (past tense) we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

Those who believe they live a sinless, without fault or defect, flawless, absolute perfect life 100% of the time (exactly as Jesus lived) are suffering from a terminal case of self-righteousness.
agreed. also 1 John 2:1 My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. 2 He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

the issue we have is salvation is by grace.. No one can earn it

so when we start to read warnings as God saying we must do this if we want to stay saved, or do not do that or we will lose salvation

we forget that again, salvation is by grace.

There are many warnings about how our life and light here on earth will be affected depending on what we do or do not do.. We must not misrepresent these warning being about salvation.. Because they would make salvation NOT by Grace but through works.

As paul said it can not be both.

Romans 11:6
And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.

Heeding the SPIRIT , not the flesh .
OH yes the SPIRIT even unctioned paul to WARN and to remind .
THE SPIRIT works through true believers to KEEP THE CHURCH SAFE .
But woe unto he or she who takes off heeding the SPIRIT .
GOD is gonna lead the lambs by the SPIRIT. HEED THE SPIRIT , NOT the flesh .
And be sure to BY that same SPIRIT exhort one another daily LEST ANY ONE DOES become hardened through
the decietfulness of Sin . NOW you SEE WHY all them reminders were NECESSARY
IT IS THE WORK of the SPIRIT through men TO KEEP the CHURCH SAFE . SEE JESUS REALLY IS ABLE TO KEEP us from falling
BUT WOE unto he or she who takes off from HEEDING the SPIRIT . Ever wonder why , UNDER THE INFLUENCE of THE SPIRIT
the early church gave the church so many reminders and warnings . JUST LIKE JESUS DID while upon the earth .
NOW YOU KNOW where the true warnings are coming from . SO , HERE IS ANOTHER WARNING and REMINDER
CONTINUE IN HIM to the end . Yah , you thought those warnings were the flesh and our doing .
IT AINT . THEY CAME FROM GOD through men . I SUGGEST WE KEEP REMINDING one another OF THOSE SAME REMINDERS .
Have a great day taken . HOPE and pray this sinks in my friend .

This is true we cannot earn salvation

The problem is we do not understand what is meant by saved by grace and what Paul is meaning by works. We have come to our own understanding of what we think it means and have let our hearts become hardened as to what God means to say.

Grace is God's plan of redemption that he had in mind from the day he put man on this earth He knew man would fall so he knew then he would have to redeem man back unto himself.

The works Paul says cannot save one is talking about the Old law scarifies and such he makes that clear in his letter to the Galatians

There are works that we must do for God Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus Romans 6:3ff unto good works, (that we are to do) which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.(from the beginning of time had this plan)

We need to study better to understand why there are warnings it is for our own good we must trust in Gods word not our own understanding

We means WE my friend . IF paul said WE , OOPSY that included himself .
OSAS tries to tell ya it means uncoverted beleivers , BUT PAUL said WE pardner .
Just like a universalists sees scrips differently , so too does an osas one . IF we are seeing scrips
through the lens of mens doctrines , WE WONT be FULLY SEEING THEM the way we SHOULD BE .
A unversalists can do exactly what you do , IMPLY it means something it dont . WE MEANETH WE my friend .
WE MEANETH WE . IF i came and preached WE NEED TO OBEY THE SPRIIT , that WE includes me .
WE included paul pardner . Let us simply learn the scrips for ourselves .

Gods SPIRIT KEEPS a Converted man IN BELIEF, IN FAITH, no warning required.

Rather ODD paul sure seemed to write the CHURCH saying this and including WE in it .
YOU say what you say through the lens of OSAS . THEM WARNINGS and REMINDERS APPLIED TO ALL IN THE CHURCH .
The sooner you learn that , the better off you will indeed be .
I know how you all were taught , they tried to program me too when i first went to a certain church .
I didnt fall for it then and by grace i wont now . YOU NEED TO JUST be exhorted by what is written
NOT try and twist it to fit an acryomn . LIke i said in my other post
Universalists can do the same thing . THEY TOO try and see UNIVERSALISM in THE SCRIPTURE , and they see it wrongly .
WELL you keep trying to SEE OSAS in everything . IN other words you allowed MEN to TWIST TRUTH to CHANGE TRUTH
TO fit an acroynm . RATHER THAN reading it for you and letting the words of TRUTH form in you , you did and do as many do
TWIST the word to fit AN IDEAL of men .

You do not understand the word grace my friend

it is a gift paid for by the one who is offering it

You can;t say OT works do not save, but NT works do. it would still cancel out grace.. As you saw. It can be one or the other, it can not be both.

Paul said we are saved by the same faith abraham had.. Before there was a law. and before there was any NT works.

Rather odd the early church sure warned and reminded the converted . Them letters were not wrote to the unconverted .
YOU want to BELIEVE THIS in order to JUSTIFY OSAS . ALL WARNINGS and all REMINDERS are NEEDFUL to the church .

In Jesus Name!!....Amen!!

We can do “ NOTHING “ without the Holy Spirit.
A converted beleiver DOES work by the POWER of the SPIRIT .
Which do include warning and reminding just like paul and others did . EVERY WORD worketh GOOD to our soul .
JESUS KNOWS HOW To keep the lambs safe . I suggest we heed ALL HIS reminders as well as the SPIRIT filled reminders
of the apostels . As well as all those warnings and reminders FROM JESUS in heaven to the seven churches .
LAMBS NEED THE SPIRIT , we need the reminders , we need the exhortations of the SPIRIT of the words of GOD.

The HOLY GHOST that so many claim to heed and to need
THEY sure seem to be overlooking the HOLY GHOST INSPIRED WARNINGS and REMINDERS which JESUS HIMSELF gave
and later the Spirit filled apostels gave .
NOT to mention , DID JESUS once say I WILL SEND YOU the COMFORTER and HE WILL REMIND YOU OF ALL THINGS i have said
JESUS DIDNT SAY , HE WILL TELL YOU TO OMIT certain reminders seeing they dont apply to the converted . EXACTLY .
WE better watch out is all i can say .
