Hi....What is an "actual baptism"?
One that's not 'unactual'.
;)
Being baptized into Christ is our true baptism, the one baptism named in Ephesians 4 that pertains to us, the gentile church.
Much love!

Hi....What is an "actual baptism"?
Blessings in Christ Jesus! Perhaps it's time to unwrap a Gift you have had since way back then.
Of the doctrine of baptisms [PLURAL], and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. (Hebrews 6:2)
At the great commission Jesus said make disciples, not simply to baptize. Water baptism always follows the new birth. The new birth includes being given the Holy Spirit. The gospel always had preeminence. Thanks for allowing me to clarify.Hi ND40,
It's not water baptism that I think is the one baptism, rather, that we are immersed into Christ. Like you've pointed out, Paul was not sent to baptize but to preach the gospel.
The 11 apostles, then 12 after Matthais was chosen, they Were sent to baptize, but Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles, was not sent to baptize.
Much love!
That passage doesn't say anything about baptism. One that's not 'unactual'.

Hi Mary,That passage doesn't say anything about baptism.
Are you talking about baptism with water?
That is what would be called a Zinger! LoL.
Good find, Enoch. Winner of the thread : )
Blessings in Christ Jesus! I did not know I had this Gift before going and asking for it. Perhaps it might just might be, a Word of Knowledge, for you and for others. I just give, what I have been given. "And you shall drink any deadly thing, and it will not harm you" Why does false doctrine not harm those that are truly His. It is because their foundation is built upon The Rock, which changes not. Perhaps you and others might consider the steps given. I could only imagine how many things would change in this world, if many came together, praying in The Spirit. Perhaps this present tide of darkness would be pushed back and scattered.Hi GTW27, do you say this by a word of knowledge?
How is it that you know I have the gift of tongues? Why do I not know?
OK, I just re-read, you are going back to Mark 16.
Poisons, snakes, and tongues, correct?
Much love!
Too bad there's not a cheerleader smiley!
:)
Are you connecting these as the same thing? We're talking real deadly liquids, right? Like drinking Clorox with no harm done. And snakebites, again, no harm just as with Paul and the firewood viper?"And you shall drink any deadly thing, and it will not harm you" Why does false doctrine not harm those that are truly His.
Thank you.Hi Mary,
What I'm saying it this:
Ephesians 4:5 "One Lord, one faith, one baptism,"
is the same as . . .
Romans 6:3 "Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ"
There is one baptism, and that baptism is being immersed into Jesus Christ.
Much love!
Are you asking if I think being immersed into Jesus and being immersed into water are the same thing?Do you believe the Ephesians and Romans passages that you referenced refer to water baptism?
This teaches two baptisms. One being into water, the other being into Jesus. With the notion that the one brings the other. The 'one baptism' that the Church has always taught and practiced is clearly set out in all it's glory by St. Cyril of Jerusalem here: CHURCH FATHERS: Catechetical Lecture 3 (Cyril of Jerusalem)
Peace be with you!
No. Here is what I asked: Do you believe the Ephesians and Romans passages that you referenced refer to water baptism? Are you asking if I think being immersed into Jesus and being immersed into water are the same thing?
That is a good question. Now that I think about it I guess we would have to agree on the definition of the word "Baptism" before I could properly answer you.Do you agree there is only One Baptism?
Much love!

Maybe you and I have a different definition?
The way I am using the word in our discussion: Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration by water in the word. Water baptism is the sacrament by which we are born again of water and the Holy Ghost.
So I guess what I am saying is that one wouldn't receive a water baptism until they have converted by the teaching. Teaching comes first and then water baptism. You can't have one without the other.
Does that makes sense?
Mary
No. I believe the Romans passage teaches baptism into Jesus Christ, and that this then must be the one baptism taught in Ephesians.No. Here is what I asked: Do you believe the Ephesians and Romans passages that you referenced refer to water baptism?
