MESSAGE TO PERGAMOS

[Rev 2:12 KJV] 12 And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges;

There is no mention of Pergamos elsewhere in the Bible.

[Rev 2:13 KJV] 13 I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, [even] where Satan's seat [is]: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas [was] my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.

Jesus knew their works just as he did the other churches.

They held fast his name and did not deny his faith.

[Jhn 20:31 KJV] 31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

Israel had to believe on the name of Jesus for eternal life. Israel had to believe on Jesus, that he is Christ, the Son of God.

[Mat 10:32-33 KJV] 32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. 33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

They were to confess him, and his name, to be confessed before the father, or they would be denied before the father.

[Jhn 9:22 KJV] 22 These [words] spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.

Jews who confessed his name, that he is Christ, would be put out of the synagogue.

There is no mention of Antipas in the Bible as mentioned in Revelation 2:13 above.

[Rev 2:14 KJV] 14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.

Balaam was hired by Balak to curse Israel as found in Numbers 22. This represents just another connection to this letter being sent to a Jewish church.

Sorry but you have tied verses together in a wrong manner to come to a false conclusion.

Pergamos is mentioned in the bible- right here!

Pergamum was referred to as "Satan's throne" primarily due to its great altar of Zeus, which was a significant monument in the ancient world and symbolized idolatry and pagan worship. This altar, along with the city's wealth and its status as a center for emperor worship, contributed to its reputation as a place of Satan's influence. Additionally, the biblical reference in Revelation 2:13 highlights Pergamum as the location "where Satan’s throne is," emphasizing its spiritual significance in early Christian texts

from Wade Burleson:
The Throne of Satan

The throne of Satan in Pergamum was a literal throne that figuratively represented the seat of Satan’s influence in the ancient world.

The throne of Satan, excavated in Pergamum in 1878 AD, now sits in the Pergamonmuseum in Berlin, Germany.

also:

Pergamon - Wikipedia

Pergamon or Pergamum , also referred to by its modern Greek form Pergamos (Πέργαμος), was a rich and powerful ancient Greek city in Aeolis. It is located 26 kilometres (16 mi) from the modern coastline of the Aegean Sea on a promontory on the north side of the river Caicus (modern-day Bakırçay)

This city was on the line of Pauls mission journey and the church established there was more than likely established by Paul.

I mean Pergamos is not found anywhere else in the Bible outside of Revelation 2

I was not getting into Satan's seat as there is no clear verses on it....all opinions are based on external texts

What do you mean I tied verses together wrongly.....please explain if you care to

Pergamos had a significant Jewish community from at least the 1st century BC, so likely the Church of Pergamos had Jewish Christians.
The region had pagan influences and practices.
Being a Roman city, Emperor worship was mandatory, which Jewish people were exempt from. So there was much tension.
Many former Jews assimilated into the pagan culture, which is the reason behind the letter - the sin of tolerating paganism.

It is interesting how Satan's throne seemed to be dissolved as Christianity spread. Constantine was considered the 1st Christian Roman Emperor.
But in the 14th century, Islam entered the picture and in 1453 the Ottoman Empire gained control, renamed Constantinople to Istanbul. So Satan sort of took his seat back... instead of Emperor/Zeus worship, it was Allah - no matter to him.

How many times does a place need to be mentioned to recognize it is there according to you? God inspired John to write to the church and it is a city historically proven and also proven where Satans throne was.

It was also the home of the pagan doctor Galan. The cadeucus- (the symbol of medicine) was originated there as well as the Askelpius. They had a major temple to Askelpius andwas considered the throne of Satan by believers!

all I meant was there was no further Biblical information about Pergamos to make determination as to what kind of church it was or to have details about it

Well it was in turkey, on Paul's routes, was home to a large Satanic temple, a major gentile city- so the church would be majority gentile and possible some saved Jews who did not return to Israel under Zerubbabel if they lived in turkey. Pergamos had 2 synagogues in Paul's day and a Jewish population, so like many of the churches built by Paul there would be Jews in it.

Paul was the Apostle to the gentiles, though in every town he visited, he went first to a synagogue if there was one.
