Hi there,

So I just wanted to speak a little about being free in the Spirit. The scope of the Spirit's freedom is in the scriptures. It is good to search the scriptures, for this reason. However, it is easy to fall in to the trap of thinking, that specific verses are there "just for you". How is that possible? Perhaps for a time, but not without exception. So how do we rest in scripture, if specific verses are not giving us that rest? The answer is to let the Gospel wash over you.

If you let the Gospel wash over you, you are believing all of it. If you are believing all of it, you are trusting most of it. This is good. This gives us strength. We begin to understand the scriptures the way the Holy Spirit understands scriptures. Scriptures are not some blind guide, but a cohesive whole, that makes important distinctions about things we trust. This is a great thing. This gives us growth. The more we let scripture wash over us, the more scripture works in cohesion with itself, to free our spirit - just as the Holy Spirit is free.

This washing of the Gospel, brings us closer to Christ. Christ interpreted scripture by the Holy Spirit and discerned the path to the Cross, by faith. To do this, He had to interpret scripture by the light of the Revelation He had within Himself. His Gospel came upon Him in a flood of inspiration. This "flood" washed Him, just a man with dirt on him needs to wash. The washing made Jesus strong and caused Him to grow. The distinction between the Gospel washing over us, and scripture washing through the Lord, is that approaching it in the right way enables the will of God to work in our lives the way it is meant to. By letting it (the Gospel) wash over us, we accept a smaller place, in God's sight.

So how much do you let it wash over you? That comes down to your faith! Are you facing a great challenge, let it wash more; a you facing same trial again and again, let it wash less. The whole point is that you do it, to increase your faith. I hope this has been of some encouragement to you.

God bless.
