Will you be persuaded to believe that you could be wrong on your interpretation?
Or can you not tolerate being disagreed with on the parable of the two sons?
Yes I was willing and have spent some time thinking it through. I appreciate the chance to do this.
However, I have not come back to continue in discussion as it is futile when you were not prepared to do the same. Just to tie up a few ends.
I did not mean that I alone have a different interpretation, but see now, that what I meant, is that I believe there is a deeper meaning to the parable which I am investigating and am amazed that it is so meaningful from what I am gathering about it.
The thing that stands out is, that Jesus is using an analogy of the kingdom of God, in the father with the vineyard and his two sons. A family. He is, I believe, saying that here are two types of believer, one the obedient ones and the other are what Paul calls carnal believers.
I am not concerned with the popular interpretation, that you have voiced, ie the repentance of son 1 is of someone converted as I do not see this due to the analogy of the sons as being already in the family of God.
What He speaks of in His rebuke, are those who were not in the kingdom which is how you are seeing the parable. And it is not in accordance to the analogy. They did not understand what being an obedient son entails, which is to be holy as He is holy.
The parable leaves out as much as it says and I am still working through it.
Have a blessed day.
