Really. In my house, it's almost a term of endearment. When I do something absent-mindedly, my son will say, "You coconut, you," and I'll say, "Yeah, I know!" I never thought of it as being racial. Here, it's more to do with a coconut being like wood.

We might call somebody who is a bit odd a nut case or even a fruit cake.

Dried fruit does take some getting used to.... I am REALLY and truly debating whether or not to make some... It's only me here... and it would probably cost me at least 50 dollars in all the supplies I don't have... (including the rum to soak the fruit)... so... I probably won't do it... but I do honestly love a good fruit cake.... I might search recipes out this week.
