Reading 16th Century English does NOT make a person any holier than a person who reads 21st Century English.

If by that you mean that reading the Bible isn't enough, but it must be implimented into our lives, I would agree. Otherwise I can't agree with this belief.

The Bible is God's Word. God said he was the Word. The physical book itself is paper and leather and ink. However, when you read the words in that book, understand them and impliment them then it is God himself talking to you and getting inside you. In your defense, those words and the Word said there is much more to do besides reading the scripture: there is prayer, fasting, giving, going to Church, having faith, loving the brethren, etc....

Personally John I don't have a problem with it. I've been reading the KJV for about 12 years now and I suppose I'm so used to it that if I read another Bible it seems a bit off.

There is a problem when new versions come out, and that is small, minor changes alter or erase revelation given. A good example is your passage above from Matthew 6. "Your will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven". The KJV says, "Thy will be done in Earth as it is in Heaven".

The difference between "in and "on" appears to be small, but it does make a difference. When you say "on Earth" it implies that God's will be done on this planet and in this earthly relm... And of course it will be done. However, "in Earth" unveils a hidden revelation when you remember that our flesh is likened to "earth".

Thus "in earth as it is in heaven" is asking his will be done in our earthly lives as well as our spiritual lives.

Well in THEE-ory you are right! But even with it's flaws the KJV translation has authority! I think that is what the attraction is.

Are you saying that the KJV translation is "holier"? - because it isn't.


FHII - I KNOW that most people don't have a problem with it. So why do you believe that saying "thee", "thou", "art", etc. is better? - because it really isn't. It's just silly. The Spanish don't do it - or the Germans, the French, or whoever. Why does the English Bible have to do it?


What is so difficult about reading the Bible - or praying - in modern English?
God is NOT going to say - "His prayer doesn't count because it was said in modern English instead of 16th Century English".

What autority has the bible got,and who gave it any. certainly not God. And if Jesus is not enough for you that you have to read the bible to compliment Him, makes me wonder who your Jesus is.He is alive and living, he is not dead, He is not some character in a faiytale, He is Gods word, the bible just happens to contain some of what God has to say, that does not make it Gods word. but as Jesus says" in the bible". you wont go to Him so He can give you life.
