Funny thing is, I haven't picked up a Bible for years because most of it is already committed to memory..

Unwise.

“…he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites: And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them” (Deuteronomy 17:18-19)

Sorry but God actually said in Jeremiah 31:33 "But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people."

It is interesting that these people actually do not know what it means to be one with God, and it shows..

That’s an interesting statement. And an offensive one!

These from Berea would have remained in unbelief without scriptures to search (obviously they didn’t trust in their faulty mind to rely on from memory).

“These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” (Acts 17:11)

@True Faith

And the new covenant was WRITTEN for a reason!

“Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.” (1 Timothy 4:13-16)

Stop your foolishness in making light of the written word!

Try that verse in the real Bible!

Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.” (John 5:39 KJV)

It is only offensive if it is true...

In the original post for this thread, you wrote:

All verses have to fit.

Now, you confusedly wrote:

By what authority to you equate Jesus is the word in John 1:14? John 1:1? If so, then by what authority do you equate Jesus with the word in John 1:1? You can't assign one word for another in one verse by doing the same in some other verse.

Jesus is the Word (as shown in Truth [John 14:6] post #329 in this thread), but you deny the Word of God.

In the same vein, Luke 1:1-2 identify Jesus is the Word, just like John 1:14 identifies Jesus is the Word (as shown in Truth [John 14:6] post #394 in this thread), so you intensely persist in your rejection of the Word of God.

You admit "the Word was God" (John 1:1) states that "the Word" is being referred to as "God" with your writing of 'the "word" was God Himself' (as shown in Truth [John 14:6] post #238 in this thread), but you wickedly proceeded to disassociate John's writing from John's writing in John chapter 1 where John declares Jesus is the Word (John 1:14) your heart evilly disassociates from Jesus being God "the Word was God" (John 1:1) since Jesus is the Word (John 1:14).

You publicly blaspheme against the Holy Spirit (as shown in Truth [John 14:6] post #421 in this thread) because you call the Holy Spirit a grotesque thing.

YOU SAID ^, not me.

And again, I said Gods Word is God Himself.

When you rewrite what I say, I am not accountable for what you say.
You do not comprehend the difference between what something “is” and what something is “called”.

On this forum you call your word “True Faith”. I highly doubt that is your name, or you yourself.

Disingenuous to change an others words.

So Jesus isn't God's word?

I know the lyrics of every Elvis song off by heart, so I don't feel the need to "study" a book of his song lyrics..:)
Right Elv?

But if we've already searched the scriptures and found Jesus, it's a case of mission accomplished..:)

What post number is it where Richard said "grotesque thing"???

I found where you quoted him saying it but there are those out there who will accuse you of altering the quotes..

Thank God that holy men throughout history did not have your attitude. Otherwise we might not have the word today. But holy men did constantly read and copy the scriptures so that we might do the same today.

The word is food and cleansing for our bodies. It keeps us nourished and clean. The flesh is ever present and we must keep the word ever present by reading. You do not eat one meal a day nor wash your clothing just one time!

And your memory is not infallible. You must keep the written word accurately in your mind with constant refreshing by reading.

“Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.” (2 Peter 1:12)

You are right God is the food and cleansing nourishment for our bodies... who needs the Bible when you can get it right from God Himself....

Also, Jesus said that the Holy Spirit will bring all things into remembrance...

John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Go ahead and throw out your Bible and see if God continues to “talk to you”…

Go ahead, temp Him.
Ummm... that is not tempting him at all...lol...and I have tossed my Bible many times and 9 times out of 10 it lands opens to a different verse...

Other times I will be driving down the road and scripture comes to me...

So whether I have the Bible or not, God is always talking to me...

Tossed bible or thrown bible... My faith is not in a Book it is in God Himself...
