Amos 3:7
7 Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.
KJV
You absolutely MUST understand that Bible prophecy is NOT designed as a parable! It is a REVEALING OF THE LITERAL FUTURE THAT GOD ALMIGHTY (EL ELYON) HIMSELF GIVES TO THE PROPHETS!!! Occasionally, there may be some speech thrown in that LOOKS LIKE figurative speech, but it may simply be that the prophet didn't know what he was looking at or hearing and did the best he could to convey what it looked like or sounded like to him, but he still gave us the "straight skinny" on the event, as best he could!
NOT EVERYTHING IN THE SCRIPTURES IS FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE OR A TEACHING ALLEGORY!!!!

I guess I should have read a little better. I can see now that you were talking about the next paragraph, written by "Timothy," but even so, "Timothy" was NOT wrong when he said, "From God The Father: If all the mighty works of The Lord are broken down into mere parables and metaphors, then you are lost, forever consumed by talk and confusion, for this is the way of the evil one." There's a LOT of truth in that statement! While Yeshua` may have used SOME parables among the masses of Isra'el, to those who wanted to know more - namely, His own students - He would define His parables and reveal the truths behind the parables. He did not couch everything in the Scriptures as some idiom, figure of speech, allegory, simile, or metaphor! To the contrary, much of what He said was bold, point-blank-range, harsh reality!
However, you remind me of the pessimist/optimist axiom: "One will find what he is looking for." If one goes looking for the negative, he will surely find it. If one goes looking for the positive in life, he will find that instead!
In your case, if one goes looking for figurative speech, he will see it in EVERYTHING (whether it should be there or not)! If you interpret everything as some allegory, then that's all you will find. I will NOT follow your lead that everything is an allegory because I will NOT allow myself to be misled by haSatan. It was a twist of the wording of God's command that misled Chavah-Eve in the garden! "You won't actually die; you'll just swoon a little as you become like God! It's just some figurative speech for ... something else; you'll still live a full life!" Adam (the man and probably his wife, too) lived to be 930 years old, according to the Scriptures, but if you think they didn't die when they ate that fruit, disobeying God's commandment, you've got another "think" coming! How long COULD they have lived if they had NOT eaten of that fruit?!
On the other hand, you may have bitten your own "forbidden fruit," and bought into the Evolutionary Theory and see all of the Creation account as an allegory, in which case, you don't really believe that any of it actually happened. Am I right?
"Strange how much ya' have to know before ya' know how LITTLE ya' know!"
Well, I can't speak for Enoch2010, but as far as I'm concerned wherever you are with your "everything's a parable" garbage, I'm going to be there to shed some light on the TRUTH! By the way, you jumped down Trumpeter's throat for QUOTING Amos 3:7 saying that "Timothy" said it, but AMOS did!daq said:Enoch2010 both you and Retrobyter were here in this thread and now in the following thread:
Christ will come again Post#65-109
What else do I owe the two of you when both of you willingly choose to be double blind? :)
