I no longer write anything but a book and my right hand does not pick very well but I do build Kalimbas for children and HS Grads from exotic lumber.
Thanks for finding a creative outlet. Could post a picture of one of your instruments? (Kalimbas) Thanks.

No, Jesus told them when the had "enough." But then, Peter used it when he should not because the action was in contradiction to God's plan for that event. Swords are meant for killing. There is no other reason to buy one, and Jesus had them buy one.
Could you cite the passage where Jesus asked them to buy swords? I don't recall that.
Is this one of them?

Luke 22:36 NIV
He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag;
and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.

“Adornment” is right.

Jesus didn’t instruct them to buy swords with self-defense in mind. There was another reason to buy swords that weren’t to be wielded - it was to fulfill a messianic prophecy.

Being a former Entertainer I taught Baptist Prmaries between 47 & 50, perfect training for a Baby Christian, no matter their age. Thus grounded I serve in the LORD's Army.

I was seventeen on January 25 of 1962, my mother was in Prison for her 12th turn, my sisters were in the local orphanage, my father was on Skid Row, and, my Stepfather, Dad, was drunk and scared I would see Combat, he had, and was POed with me for not finishing High School and joining the USAF.
On the 27th I was sworn into service with the US Army and for the next seven years and ten months I served my Nation as a flying Helicopter Crewchief, and Soldier, When I ETSed I did not become a former Cavalryman, I was just inactive.
In the fall of 1968, I was still pursuing my dream of becoming a famous CW Singer/Picker when Dollie released her cut of He's Alive. Every time that Number played on the radio or CMT I broke out in tears and could not control myself.
My best friend had been blown to pieces on 3 Nov, 1969, and at about seven, with the VC withdrawn, I found myself, a self-proclaimed Atheist, standing in the Company Street cursing the God I did not believe in. Then a still, quiet voice said, "Why curse me, you don't even believe. From that moment until some point in 11/1989, I was a Diest in search of the identity of God and at the point of conversion, 1/1/'90, I knew I would never blow Nashville away.
I remain an Inactive Cavalryman but have been an Active Soldier in Yehovah's Army since that first day of 1990, when Ruah, the Holy Spirit, assumed command and I welcomed Him home.

I assume there must be one Contiagous Christian that can engage in fruitful exchange?

I was never enlisted in the military, per se, but I was enrolled in the Air Force ROTC program at the University of Kentucky.

Looking back on that experience 49 years later, I thought at the time that it was my decision alone to enroll. When I left the program after a year, I thought that too was my decision alone. I don’t think that now. I believe God wanted me to enroll in the program, and that God wanted me to leave it after I had learned from it.

I entered and exited the ROTC program for the wrong reason. Right move, wrong reason.

“… neither shall they learn war anymore.”

(Isaiah 2:4)

The nations aren’t there yet, and won’t be until the Messiah returns.

They aren’t. They will be.

They aren’t. I am. As a disciple of Jesus of Nazareth (the Messiah, the Son of the living God), I’m a resident alien living in the promised land. My true citizenship is in heaven. I live it here and now.

“War is hell.” - General Sherman

Isn’t that true @th1b.taylor? Every military person I’ve ever met who has experienced combat and spoken with me about it has told me that it is.

“Jesus replied, ‘My kingdom is not from this world. If it my kingdom were from this world, my servants would be fighting to keep me from being handed over to the Jewish authorities. But as it is, my kingdom is not from here.’”

(John 18:36, NET)

The kingdom of God is not a part of the world’s system; it is from heaven. The kingdom of the world will become the kingdom of God only in the future (Revelation 11:15).

@th1b.taylor you fought, or were willing to fight, for a kingdom of the world. You killed, or were willing to kill, your enemy - and you killed, or were willing to kill, even your fellow Christians.

Which messianic prophecy?
I'm asking because I honestly haven't thought on that.

Thanks, but I couldn't figure out how you see that verse applied here.

I would recommend consulting commentaries to our readers.

Isaiah 53:12 is but one verse in a lengthy messianic prophecy.

Who was the transgressor that day? The one who wielded the sword against the arresting party. To resist the government (in this case, the Roman Empire), especially doing so while armed, is a serious transgression of the governmental authority’s law. Jesus was counted among the party that transgressed.

That Jesus didn’t have them purchase swords for self-defense should be obvious. If self-defense was his purpose no sword at all was necessary. As he said, he could have called upon legions of angels had he wanted. Two swords against a Roman cohort isn’t self-defense; it’s transgression.

Thanks for your time in explaining this to me.
I apologize for not having consulted your comments to other readers. My bad.
I find your explanation very reasonable.

You’re welcome. No apology necessary.

The explanation isn’t uniquely mine (as commentaries would demonstrate) and not everyone will find it persuasive. I’m not pointing a gun at anyone’s head (another word play, as if a conscientious objector would ever do such a thing - what a picture!) and forcing them to believe it.

I remember you from a different Christian forum board! Same name, same face. it's not surprising to see you not there anymore. Me either! They started getting to accepting of the gays and were censoring me but not them. So I didnt want my name associated with that board any longer and made them ban me! They said no because I posted a lot and banning me would disappear all my posts on that forum...so I just need to shut up. I forced them to ban me lol.

Nice running into you here. :)

See what happens when you join military service before finishing school. But then How many college grads ever owned their own business and turned Nashville to marry the main lady of their lives?

Hello Edward, I have moved a bit since 1990, people keep changing away from belief in basic Christianity.

You will find nobody who hates killing more than the average soldier. I learned the truth of the statement that evil lurks in the heart of men... even me.

Knowing as you do that it is evil, would you have me do it anyway and violate my conscience?

”Do not repay evil with evil” (1 Peter 3:9).

Don't smear me with the World's Stupidity, go back, drop the subjective attitude the Dragon is using to manipulate and read what I said. I was at war in SE Asia and a man can do a lot of things with the head of his best friend staring at him as he cleans blood and guts away. I want you to realze that you are not saved to watch Yahvah's Children being raped and slaughtered. Completely dofferent and except you8 deal with it, I do not see y7ou in the LORD's Army.
