So what does it mean to reckon ourselves dead to sin?

Do we have an innate power to reckon our sins away? Do we need to go to the throne of grace to receive heavenly power over sin? Or are all our sins hidden from God's view like a fresh covering of snow on a dunghill?

Maybe "posturing" is having a discussion you don't really want to have. More's the pity! It's a good topic. And is best studied in that passage in which that phrase appears.

I have said that the foundation is Christ. But you are stubbornly maintaining that the foundation is Christ IN YOU. To build ON Christ you need to go to where He is...in Zion....being seated with Him in heavenly places. For real...through being translated into the kingdom of God's dear Son. Christ is in us by His Spirit. His Spirit, IS Christ, His nature. We received His spirit/Him when we believed. Otherwise we would not belong to Him, because the scripture says who has not the spirit is none of His. You need to acknowledge the "yes" part of the "yes, but not yet."

Romans chapter 6 explains it perfectly.

Either we've actually died with Christ being baptized into Him, once, and are now alive unto God, or, God is telling us to try to convince ourselves of something that's not true. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. Truth is what sets us free. God is not teaching us to believe and practice a lie.
