Before celebrating Pride month, please read this
The celebration of Pride Month in our culture has become an opportunity to attack Christianity and say that it is a religion of hate. To say that authentic Christians hate or fear homosexuals or the trans-community demonstrates a gross misunderstanding of Christianity.
This author makes the claim that "Jesus condemned 'all' sexual activity outside of marriage between a man and a woman", and based it on the following verse:
"For out of the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, railings:" (Matt 15:19 ASV)
He points out that our word "pornography" comes from that word porneia and seems to conclude that means since there is gay porn, the Greek porneia condemns gay sex. That is a strange argument, because our word "pharmacy" comes from the Greek G5331 φαρμακεία pharmakeia; where it is translated "witchcraft" in the KJV, "sorcery" in the RSV (Gal. 5:19)... does that make pharmacies evil or sinful? What about his argument, apparently on the word "fornication", check the meaning of the word:
Fornication -
1890 Classic Strong's and Liddell Scott Jones Lexicon of Classical Greek -
G4202 πορνεία porneia por-ni'-ahFrom G4203; harlotry (including adultery and incest); figuratively idolatry:—fornication.
The LSJ - πορν-εία , Ion. πορν-είη , ἡ , prostitution, Hp. Epid. 7.122 , etc.; of a man, D. 19.200 ; fornication, unchastity, Ev.Matt. 19.9: pl., 1 Ep.Cor. 7.2 . II metaph., idolatry, LXX Ho. 4.11 ,al.
(This is the word Jesus used in Matt. 15:19.)
G4203 πορνεύω porneuō porn-yoo'-o From G4204; to act the harlot, that is, (literally) indulge unlawful lust (of either sex), or (figuratively) practise idolatry:—commit (fornication).
The LSJ - πορν-εύω , prostitute, mostly in Pass. , of a woman, prostitute herself, be or become a prostitute, Hdt. 1.93 , Eup. 67 , Lys. Fr. 59 ; of a man, Aeschin. 1.52 , 119, D. 19.233 . II intr. in Act. , = Pass. , LXX De. 23.17(18) , Luc. Alex. 5 , Phalar. Ep. 121 , Harp.s.v. πὠλῶσι; fornicate, 1 Ep.Cor. 6.18 .
2. metaph., practise idolatry, LXX 1 Ch. 5.25 , al.
G4204 πόρνη pornē por'-nay Feminine of G4205; a strumpet; figuratively an idolater:—harlot, whore.
The LSJ - πόρν-η , ἡ , harlot, prostitute, Archil. 142 , Ar. Ach. 527 , etc. (Prob.from πέρνημι, because Greek prostitutes were commonly bought slaves. )
G4205 πόρνος pornos por'-nos From πέρνημι pernēmi (to sell; akin to the base of G4097); a (male) prostitute (as venal), that is, (by analogy) a debauchee (libertine):—fornicator, whoremonger.
THE LSJ - πόρνος , ὁ , catamite, Ar. Pl. 155 , X. Mem. 1.6.13 , D. 22.73 , Alex. 242 , etc.
2. sodomite, D. Ep. 4.11 , Phalar. Ep. 4 .
3. in LXX and NT, fornicator, LXX Si. 23.16 , 1 Ep.Cor. 5.9 , al. II idolater, Suid.
None of these NT Greek words is ever found in the Bible to apply to male to male sin? In fact, G4205 is translated "fornicator" and is distinguished from the Greek arsenokoites in 1 Cor. 6:9
