Garb in the Churches

You see all these churches where their leaders have fancy titles, etc.

They spend fortunes fancy clothes, jewelry, staffs and more.

Do you think that is biblical?

My opinion is not. It is ego, power and greed at work.

What do you think?

Job 32:21-22 (KJV)
21 Let me not, I pray you, accept any man's person, neither let me give flattering titles unto man.
22 For I know not to give flattering titles; in so doing my maker would soon take me away.
Mark 12:38 (KJV)
38 And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces,
1 Peter 3:3-4 (KJV) I think this would include men
3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
1 Timothy 2:9-10 (KJV) I think its for men also = modest
9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

So we can go to an extreme with anything = to much and to little = dress up or dress down
modest, humble vs extreme, pride, showy
What is the person motive in what they do ?

Personally I think we ought dress nice when they go to church. question might be what is nice ?
I don't think people ought wear shorts to church or sleeveless shirts or tight leotard(yoga pant) that shows everything.
Church is not a place to show off what you have, its place of worship.
I was taught, dress up as you were going to meet the king.

Church now day ought to have some descent standard.
Why should the church be lower than any other institution that requires decency.
Then again, opinion of what is decency among the people with different culture.

Leadership of a church ought to be an example what is the dress standards of the church decency and modesty.

I rather have a preacher that is rich in the word of God.

I guess as per the OP, some ppl understand 'garb' to mean particular items, vestments, etc. to do with an unnecessary ceremony and formalism.

Others understand 'garb' to refer to a more general discussion of what ppl wear in church.

As a new Christian many moons ago, I felt people in the church looked down on me because I wore earrings and make-up so I stopped and became rather dowdy. But then I learned to accept who I am and be myself because God love the me he created me to be and I am allowed to wear dangly earrings and make up and I am now free to be myself.

So why shouldn't a woman pierce her ears? and if she does, why shouldn't she put rings through the piercings, whether studs or other rings?
