Garb in the Churches

Can't say I've ever thought about it.

Tattoo artists can anyway advise about the pros and cons of the various placements, hypothetical or otherwise.

Dave has 6 tattoo's...he he preached for decades.

It's what men do, often.

I guess for girls though or anyone really, it is sad to se them marking their bodies up.

Even the children of Israel male and female...had earring..no problem there.

I don't think that jewelry is something that a pastor should buy or have much of. James says that those adorned in much jewelry will burn the flesh of the wearers as a Testament against them.

I actually agree; the emphasis should be on the inward and spiritual, without distractions.

I like your other post too. God knows who we are 24/7..so why on earth would we act or dress differently on a Sunday!!

I picture a baby being born with inking on her...No, God is not in favour at all.

You see all these churches where their leaders have fancy titles, etc.

They spend fortunes fancy clothes, jewelry, staffs and more.

Do you think that is biblical?

My opinion is not. It is ego, power and greed at work.

I agree - I don't believe that's all necessary. If you look to Christ and the apostles, they weren't decked out in fancy clothes, it was the Pharisees who loved to make the big show. Our church was built many years ago and you don't see beautiful architecture like what was made long ago. It has beautiful stained glass windows depicting Christ, a huge organ in the loft, and lovely chandeliers hanging from the high arch ceiling. So I think that a beautiful church is different, because our church inspires holiness and awe - as if you're coming into the presence of God. But other than that, there is nothing at all fancy about our pastor or anything else. In fact, it's somewhat of a poor church since it's mostly older people. I don't agree with these pastors who own mansions and private jets - that's excessive.

I don't "like" tattoo's at all, by choice. But Dave has six, my granddaughter has 7 large ones and a small one on her foot. I don't "like" them, but each person is free before the Lord, not answerable to me! It does not condemn anyone. :)

Earrings I wear myself. I think pretty much all the children of Israel mae and females wore gold earrings.

I have blocked the person who started this thread...so I have no idea if posting about Inking and earring is "on topic" because I have no opening post!!

In Ezekiel 16.12, the Lord Himself gives earrings - and even a nose ring - to Zion, figuratively.

Tattoos are so often now how to express oneself as a woman (even though years ago they were almost exclusively a man thing). So it's a widely known and widely used means of expression for faith tattoos among young Christians especially.

FYI:

Around here (Bible Belt), it is common, especially among evangelical Christians, for the girls under about 40 to have religious tattoos. More do than don't, especially when you get to the under 30 crowd. I hardly know any female at church that is under 30 that does not have a tattoo.
