Oops sorry it really means faith!

Revelation 2:23
And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

where’s the beatitude that says

blessed are those who have “faith alone” for they are saved!

I didn't know that God searches horse tack! Reins are the means of controlling a horse. Stop using the King James Bible! As is clear from your many posts, you do not have command of the English language. You make many errors, including frequent misspellings. How can you understand early 17th Century Englyshe??

Here is that verse, correctly translated into modern English: "Furthermore, I will strike her followers with a deadly disease, and then all the churches will know that I am the one who searches minds and hearts. I will repay each one of you what your deeds deserve."

And here are another two verses which you should read until you understand them! Ephesians 2:8-9, "For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God; it is not from works, so that no one can boast."

Ephesians 2:8-9, " For by grace you are saved [present tense] through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God; it is not from works, so that no one can boast." Nothing more needs to be said.

I believe the Bible, not your false interpretation.

I'm... the one who actually believes God's Word AS WRITTEN, and can prove a doctrine by many Scriptures, and not pulling out a single verse and trying to apply men's leaven to it. So it is your... interpretation of Paul that is false, so admit it, you INSTEAD want to follow men's leaven doctrine of OSAS.

And wow! lot of mega-churches popping up today pushing that false OSAS doctrine of man, all kinds of music and entertainment stars show up to put on a show in those churches, and very little of actual Bible teaching is given! And many of those mega-churches have HUGE buildings and facilities, just to make one fooled into thinking what they are doing is OK with God! Yeah, keep going to them, listening to their entertainers, and hear them constantly tell you, "you are saved!, you cannot sin anymore! go, enjoy your life! have fun like we do!"

salvation relies on hope then!

what happened to faith alone???

“Faith alone”

Questions

where does scripture says we have died with Christ by “faith alone”?

Sorry, no time for those who like to pull out a verse and apply it how they want.

Your individual trust in God, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

The grace is from God - Because of Jesus Christ dying for your life being saved to new life because of what God had done through Christ because paying for the sin of the life of all people.

Would encourage people to read the first chapter, then move to the second chapter for more information.

2 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath.4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

There it is. This guy has no problem staying with The Scripture by Apostle Paul. Why can't others here do that?

Do you actually believe that Christ's Salvation is FOR this PRESENT WORLD?

That's what the 'Kingdom Now' doctrines of men believe today, but that idea is false. God's Word shows this present world is preserved unto destruction by fire! (2 Peter 3:10).

is Christ the king?

To what does the "that" in this verse refer?

"That" (τοῦτο) is a neuter demonstrative pronoun. "Faith" (πίστις) is a feminine noun. By the rules of Greek grammar, if "that" referred to faith, it would be in the feminine case. So, "that" cannot refer to "faith" in this verse. Instead, it refers to the entire opening clause, salvation by grace through faith. Salvation by grace through faith is the gift of God.

It doesn't say what you think it says. So, you have started this whole thread on an incorrect premise.

Ah! You have tweaked that since last we spoke of it. Yes! I can see that. It’s so simple I feel stupid for not seeing it. I just wandered around confused in our previous conversation on it. It’s the whole phrase. :)

What will you work on next? Are you wrestling with something else? :)

This was a remnant from the breakdown, when it was suggested the reason I had trouble with trust and obedience was because God had predestined me for the flames and had withheld the gift of Faith. I can't take credit for this analysis of Ephesians 2:8-9; it was pointed out in a book by Freewill Baptist professor Robert Piccirilli. But the Greek skills I learned from that time in my life have been quite useful. If I can strengthen the trust of someone who has similar doubts, the experience will have been worth it all the while.

Not wrestling with anything right now, except how best to help some of the hurting people God brings into my life, while still keeping my day job.

Well, I like your wrestlings. I always learn something by walking with you through them. And the alternative to your wrestlings is thread after thread of nonsense. I also enjoy the lighter and silly moments with you as a break from the hard wrestlings. You sure do silly well! And some laughter is good for us.

Luke1
18 Zechariah said to the angel, “How will I know that this is so? For I am an old man, and my wife is getting on in years.” 19 The angel replied, “I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news. 20 But now, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their time, you will become mute, unable to speak, until the day these things occur.”

John the Baptists dad was not able to believe Gabriel. Faith in Christ could not enter the world by him

Mary is favored(Grace) and because of that, she can believe. Through her, faith in Christ enters the world.

Luke1
34 Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I am a virgin?” 35 The angel said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be holy; he will be called Son of God. 36 And now, your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son; and this is the sixth month for her who was said to be barren. 37 For nothing will be impossible with God.” 38 Then Mary said, “Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word.” Then the angel departed from her.

These two accounts are remarkably similar. One might even ask how they differ so much that Zacharias response is punished and Mary's is a model faith.

Luke1
And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit 42 and exclaimed with a loud cry, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. 43 And why has this happened to me, that the mother of my Lord comes to me? 44 For as soon as I heard the sound of your greeting, the child in my womb leaped for joy. 45 And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her by the Lord.”

Faith is through hearing. Hearing the Word of God. The sound of God's Word was carried by the Voice of the Blessed Virgin Mary to Elizabeth's ear and the miracle of Faith through hearing begins.

A hidden community of faith in Christ grew among family, friends and whoever else the Father revealed the Incarnation too.

Hidden because no one but God could reveal a virgin birth and be believed. Because of that no one can come to Christ unless the Father draws them. And He did. Mysterious people like the man carrying a pitcher of water that led them to the upper room and the owner of the room, the guy casting out demons in Jesus name who wasn't recognized by the Apostle's, are people that the Father revealed Jesus to during His private life.

As usual you misinterpret Scripture.

1 John 3:2, " Beloved, we are God’s children now [present tense]; what we will be [future tense] has not yet been revealed. What we do know is this: when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him as he is.

We are God's children now, not in the future. We will have a different body, but the fact remains that we are right now His children.
Good point Jim... and it goes beyond that. The Kingdom of God is [now] within us. He hath made us [now] to sit in heavenly places.Christ, is [now] in us, so we see him face to face. We are [now] the body of Christ.

We are still trapped in this earth body, so I see Davy's point. But we are to live by the evidence of the unseen things and are to call things that are not as though they were.
