And that makes it okay?
Rubs me the wrong way? I'm used to it. No worries.
LOL
The church lied to you. (me too)
I'm still recovering from the horrible teachings.
Annihilationism is the gateway drug to full-blown Universalism. You are halfway there. Kudos.
[
Universalism is a false theology that contradicts the Bible. You would have to disregard the meaning of death, which is what Christians are saved from. With this mindset there is no law, no obedience required ... One can live the way you choose ... maybe you'll suffer a little for it but in the end, we all make it - how convenient a philosophy - but a lie from Satan.
Death comes in two parts, physical death and spiritual death, which we all experience. We are actually physically born with a dead spirit, spiritually disconnected with God. We remain that way unless we are given LIFE through CHRIST. HE transforms our dead spirits, washes away our sins and we are spiritually born again (John 3:3). We become new creatures in Christ. It is evident that not everyone believes in Christ, calls Him Lord, follows and worships Him.
If by the time a person dies, He has not received this transformed SPIRITUAL LIFE which Christ offers, then he remains lost, dead, and faces judgment.
That is the story.
>>> You do not accept it and that's your dilemma.<<<
The idea of Universalism gives you a Get OUT Of JAIL FREE card, on the reverse side it says mercy, forgiveness and justification for ALL. It allows you to remain in your sin, lifestyle ... whether Christ changes you or not. There are too many scriptures you would have to delete and distort to come to that conclusion and that is what the Universalist does, picks and chooses scriptures that works for him and discards the rest. It suggests that all paths, all religions or atheism lead to God and heaven. NOPE!
“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it” Matt. 7: 13-14 |
"And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell"..Matt. 10:28
Jesus reiterates His message over and over again. His disciples do as well. The
Bible urges us to choose the path to God by believing in Jesus ...
or else die in your sins.
He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him". John 3:36
And these shall go away to age-lasting punishment, but the righteous to eternal life. Matt. 25:46
>> "aionios" has variable meanings.<<
When applied to our physical realm that is temporal and will pass away, it means ages, lifetimes, generations, etc. So everlasting really means age-lasting or age- during. When it is applied to God, His domain, it means eternal or with our salvation forward infinitely.
Hades and all who are in it, Hell, (the Lake of Fire), the 1st earth and heavens, Satan and His demons are temporal, (finite). Even death itself will be destroyed
. 2 Peter 3:10 describes this horrific event when all temporal things are annihilated, " all former things shall pass away".
But hey, most of your threads are in the Unorthodox section, where they belong. Just know with 11k posts, none of them lead any true Christian astray, if that is your purpose. There are 20 or so Universalists on this forum, 2-3% of Christianity as a whole - your measly support group.
I don't know if you believe in Jesus? All scripture is His words so, not believing in some of them is a reflection of your belief in Him, filled with doubts, half truths, confusion, rebelliousness ...
not firm belief, not exactly the fear of God, which is the beginning of knowledge and wisdom.
