Brethren in Christ -- BEWARE of those who try to convince you that the final 70th week of Daniel 9 was included within Christ's Ministry.

They will try to keep you dwelling on the sole Daniel 9:27 verse. Yet there are many, many other statements of prophecy in God's Word which prove Daniel's final "one week" is still yet to be fulfilled to this day.

1. The Dan.9:27 verse involves the ending of the Jew's daily sacrifices along with the PLACING of an "abomination that maketh desolate" event in Daniel 11:31 done by the "vile person" spoken of starting at Dan.11:21. Both... of those events are mentioned in Dan.9:27 and in Dan.11:31. So why would someone want to disregard the Dan.11 chapter on that?

2.
Daniel 11:21 forward reveals the "vile person" will make a "league" in Jerusalem with a small people (small group). That... is the idea of the confirming of the covenant that Dan.9:27 is pointing to.

3. God gave us a pattern for that ending of sacrifices in Jerusalem and the placing of an IDOL abomination inside the Jew's temple by Antiochus Epiphanes in 165 B.C. that conquered Jerusalem with an army, went inside the 2nd temple at Jerusalem, and sacrificed swine upon the altar inside, and spread its broth around inside the temple, and then setup an IDOL to false Zeus worship.

4. But around 200 years later, Lord Jesus Christ quoted from the Daniel Scripture in His Olivet discourse of Matthew 24 and Mark 13, warning us about a false-Christ coming at the end of this world, with the placing of an "abomination of desolation" IDOL in another standing stone temple in Jerusalem, causing a repeat of the pattern of Antiochus IV.

5. Then the Daniel 7 and 8 Chapters have direct parallels to the Book of Revelation about the very end of this world (see Revelation 13 & 17). The "little horn" of Daniel 7 & 8 represents the beast king of Revelation 17 that the ten horns (ten kings) will give their power to for "one hour" (put for the "great tribulation" at the end of this world).

6. Even the Daniel 2 Chapter reveals that in the days of those kings, when the final beast of 5 pieces are setup together, the feet of ten toes (ten kings) of part iron and part clay, are destroyed as one beast by The Stone (Jesus Christ) which the builders rejected, smiting it upon its feet, then shall Christ's Eternal Kingdom be established over all this earth.

So just trying to dwell on the sole Daniel 9:27 verse does not get it done. The Book of Daniel and the Book of Revelation about the end are hard connected, along with Christ's Olivet discourse of Matthew 24 and Mark 13.

So don't let anyone sway you from a proper coverage in all of God's Word with trying to use a single verse to feed you an old moldy sandwich from men's doctrines.

It is clear what the 70 weeks are about.

Seventy Weeks and the Messiah

24 “Seventy weeks [of years, or 490 years] have been decreed for your people and for your holy city (Jerusalem),

to finish the transgression,
to make an end of sins,
to make atonement (reconciliation) for wickedness,
to bring in everlasting righteousness (right-standing with God),
to seal up vision and prophecy and prophet,
and to anoint the Most Holy Place.

If just one of the above is fulfilled, then they all are in 70 weeks.

Has Jesus made atonement and brought us into right standing with himself and opened up the way into the Holy place?

Heb 9
11 But when Christ appeared as a High Priest of the good things to come [that is, true spiritual worship], He entered through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not a part of this [material] creation. 12 He went once for all into the Holy Place [the Holy of Holies of heaven, into the presence of God], and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, having obtained and secured eternal redemption [that is, the salvation of all who personally believe in Him as Savior].

13 For if the sprinkling of [ceremonially] defiled persons with the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a [burnt] heifer is sufficient for the cleansing of the body, 14 how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal [Holy] Spirit willingly offered Himself unblemished [that is, without moral or spiritual imperfection as a sacrifice] to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works and lifeless observances to serve the ever living God?

15 For this reason He is the Mediator and Negotiator of a new covenant [that is, an entirely new agreement uniting God and man], so that those who have been called [by God] may receive [the fulfillment of] the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has taken place [as the payment] which redeems them from the sins committed under the obsolete first covenant.

24 For Christ did not enter into a holy place made with hands, a mere copy of the true one, but [He entered] into heaven itself, now to appear in the very presence of God on our behalf; 25 nor did He [enter into the heavenly sanctuary to] offer Himself again and again, as the high priest enters the Holy Place every year with blood that is not his own. 26 Otherwise, He would have needed to suffer over and over since the foundation of the world; but now once for all at the consummation of the ages He has appeared and been publicly manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. 27 And just as it is appointed and destined for all men to die once and after this [comes certain] judgment, 28 so Christ, having been offered once and once for all to bear [as a burden] the sins of many, will appear a second time [when he returns to earth], not to deal with sin, but to bring salvation to those who are eagerly and confidently waiting for Him.

Beware of those who suggest we are still in our sins by placing the 70th week of atonement in the distant future.

When Jesus comes a second time will he deal with sin?

Clearly not, as he already did in what must have been the 70th week.

It is included within the Apostles ministry; Heb. 2:3. Ended AD 34.

The final 70th week, the "one week" of Daniel 9:27, is still pending today. It was not fulfilled by Christ, nor by any of His Apostles.

The events of Daniel 9:27 are about the works by the "vile person" of Daniel 11.

Because Jesus quoted from Daniel 11:31 about the placing of that "abomination that maketh desolate" in the "holy place" (Jew's temple in Jerusalem), that definitely beyond all doubt means He was not, and will not be, the one at the end to fulfill it. It will be the pseudo-Christ that Jesus pointed to in Matthew 24:23-26 that will fulfill the "abomination of desolation" IDOL that Jesus quoted from the Book of Daniel.

One of the huge errors you make in your post is by assuming the 70 weeks prophecy of Daniel 9 involves Bible prophecies for Christ's Church when it is actually for Daniel's people and Jerusalem, per the Daniel 9:24. So all those things are to be compared to the Orthodox Jews which are Daniel's people and represent a majority in today's Jerusalem...

Dan 9:24
24 Seventy weeks are determined
upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
KJV

1. "to finish the transgression" -- this transgression is the 'transgression of desolation' of Dan.8, which is the "abomination that maketh desolate" of Dan.11:31 that Jesus quoted in Matthew 24 and Mark 13 to be setup in the "holy place" at the end of this world.

2. "and to make an end of sins" -- has this happened today for the Orthodox unbelieving Jews in today's Jerusalem? No, since the majority of them still do not believe Jesus of Nazareth is Christ The Messiah.

3. "and to make reconciliation for iniquity" -- Apostle Paul said in Rom.11 that God will forgive their sin, but he said that in conjunction with the fullness of the Gentiles having come in, which is on the day when Jesus returns in the future, and thus removes the spiritual blindness He put upon the majority of Jews.

4. "and to bring in everlasting righteousness" -- this still has not yet happened today for the Orthodox unbelieving Jews in Jerusalem, as they reject that Righteousness in the Blood of Jesus Christ shed upon His cross.

5. "and to seal up the vision and prophecy" -- this won't happen for the unbelieving Jews in Jerusalem until Lord Jesus' return in our near future.

6. "and to anoint the most Holy" -- this will only happen in Jerusalem once Christ's return happens, and He destroys Satan's host who will be setup in false worship in Jerusalem. Then the cleansing of that area in Jerusalem will begin by Christ, and His building of the future Millennial sanctuary per Zechariah 6 with Christ as The BRANCH.

Daniel 9:27 clearly divides the 70th week into 2 three and a half year periods.
Daniel 7:25 and Daniel 12:7 describe the second half, when the holy people of God will be in the power of the 'beast'.
Revelation describes that same half several times; Revelation 13:5-7, the 'beast' conquers God's holy people for 42 months and again in Revelation 11:2.
In that same period, the faithful Christians will be taken to a place of safety on earth, for 1260 days. Revelation 12:14

The final seven years will commence with a treaty of peace signed between the 'beast'- who will be the leader of the One World Government and the leaders of God's holy people; all the Christians by then, living in all of the holy Land. They will have just recently experienced the dramatic defeat of a huge attacking army from the North, led by a man known as Gog.
The first half of that treaty will be peaceful and is therefore not mentioned. But at the mid point of it, the 'beast' will come to Jerusalem in force and conquer the holy people. Zechariah 14:1-2
He will sit in the Temple and declare himself to be God. 2 Thessalonians 2:4

This triggers the Great Tribulation of the Seven Trumpets and Seven Bowls, culminating in the Battle of Armageddon and the Return of Jesus for His Millennium reign. Revelation 17:16-18, Revelation 19:11-21

The 70th 'week' of Daniel WILL take place in the last 7 years of this Christian era.
No doubt about it! And there is no need to be concerned, as we faithful Christians do have God's promises for His protection thru it all. Psalms 91, Isaiah 43:2

I would say brothers beware of those who try to tell you one week doesn’t really mean one week.

What's that supposed to mean?

The actual Hebrew for the Daniel 9 seventy weeks prophecy just uses the idea of 'sevens', and not weeks. It's the translators that used the idea of "weeks". And per the prophecy, each "week" is symbolic for a period of 7 years.

Anybody care to explain why Daniel mourned for 3 literal weeks but somehow the week that Messiah confirmed the covenant God made with Abraham morphs into 7 years?

I can tell you how that happens. It’s because certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness.

You guys who believe the 70 weeks of years heresy have fallen right into their trap. Even to the extent that you have changed the grace of God (Daniel 9:27) into “The Antichrist” signing a “7 year peace treaty” with the Jews.

I asked ChatGPT where the interpretation of 70 weeks of years came from and this the response.

The interpretation of Daniel's "70 weeks" as 70 weeks of years is generally credited to early Christian scholars, such as Hippolytus of Rome (c. 170–235 AD) and later figures like Irenaeus (c. 130–202 AD). This method of interpretation became more formalized through the works of later scholars such as Augustine of Hippo (354–430 AD). They applied this interpretation to understand the prophecy in the context of Christian eschatology and to correlate it with the life and mission of Jesus Christ.

I then asked what was the consensus prior to this and this was the response.

Before the interpretation of Daniel's "70 weeks" as 70 weeks of years became prominent, the consensus among Jewish scholars was typically a literal interpretation, viewing the "weeks" as actual weeks of days. This approach saw the "70 weeks" as periods of seven days rather than seven years, focusing on the more immediate and historical context of the prophecy. This view understood the prophecy in relation to specific historical events and periods affecting the Jewish people. The transformation into a "weeks of years" interpretation was a later development influenced by Christian theological perspectives.

So basically the 70 weeks of years is a Roman Catholic doctrine.
The RC's did get some thing's right.

The confirmation that the final 7 years of this age is the '70th week', is in Revelation, where we have what will happen in the second half of that period, told to us several times.
Calling it a heresy, is a denial of plainly Written scripture.

Where do you get 7 years from? Every single place in the Old Testament where H7620 is used it ALWAYS points to literal weeks.

This is a different version of Daniels 70th week but before you discard it pay special attention to the last three points and really think about it

The vision of the angle Gabriel and the prophecy of the 70 weeks were an answer to Daniels prayer in Daniel 9:4-19. Daniels is praying to God and asking for mercy as he knew that the prophet Jeremiah had prophesied that the captivity would last for 70 years. The law of Moses states that they need to repent and turn back to God but the 70 years was almost up and the Jews were still not repenting. We see in the verses below that Daniel is pleading to God for mercy.

Daniel 9:17-19
17 “Now, our God, hear the prayers and petitions of your servant. For your sake, Lord, look with favor on your desolate sanctuary. 18 Give ear, our God, and hear; open your eyes and see the desolation of the city that bears your Name. We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy. 19 Lord, listen! Lord, forgive! Lord, hear and act! For your sake, my God, do not delay, because your city and your people bear your Name.”

The prophecy given by the angel Gabriel

Daniel 9:24-27
24 “Seventy ‘sevens’ are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the Most Holy Place. 25 “Know and understand this: From the time the word goes out to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One the ruler, comes, there will be seven ‘sevens,’ and sixty-two ‘sevens.’ It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble. 26 After the sixty-two ‘sevens,’ the Anointed One will be put to death and will have nothing The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed. 27 He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’ In the middle of the ‘seven’ he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And at the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.

The 70 years would become 70 weeks of foreign control. The Jews would go back and rebuild Jerusalem but not as free people but under foreign control.

The 70 weeks are 490 years of prophecy.

The command by the angel Gabriel is to know and understand the prophecy. The decree (the word to go and rebuild Jerusalem) would trigger the understanding of the time line of the vision. Thus the decree of king Cyrus is the key to know and understand the 70 weeks. The decree of king Cyrus gives us a concrete date and point in time of the 70 weeks.

Below are the time lines of each set of weeks

605 B.C. The start of the 70 weeks Daniel and the Jews are taken into captivity. (time goes backwards from the time of Daniel vision)

587 B.C. Jerusalem is destroyed by Babylon the start of the 7 weeks (runs parallel to some of the 62 weeks)

170/1 B.C. Onias 3rd is murdered (cut off and has nothing) the second anointed one the last of the Zadokite priesthood which was the start of the 70th week.

538 B.C. King Cyrus issues a decree to go and rebuild Jerusalem and Joshua (the first anointed one who was to come) goes back to rebuild Jerusalem. This is the end of the 7 weeks which was 49 years after 587 B.C. when Jerusalem was destroyed.

167 B.C. Antiochus Epiphanies 4th desecrates the temple ½ way through the 70th week. The abomination that caused desolation.

164/3 B.C. Antiochus Epiphanies 4th dies and the temple sacrifice is reestablished the end of the 70th week. (the end is poured out on him)

War continued during and until the end of the 70th week

The purposes of the 70 weeks in Daniel 9:24 were fulfilled by the Jews who remained loyal to God and resisted apostasy.

605 B.C.-171 B.C. 62 weeks or 434 years

587 B.C.-538 B.C. 7 weeks or 49 years

170/1 B.C.-164/3 B.C. 70th week or 7 years

Some versions of the bible use the word Messiah instead of the anointed one but that was a mistake and not the original meaning.

Below are three main points to show that Jesus wasn't any part of the prophecy of the 70 weeks

1-Some people think that the 70 weeks start in 445 BC, but this is 160 years after 605 B.C. when the Jews were taken into captivity. If this was the case then the curse of the covenant would not come into effect on those who did not repent-in 535 B.C. when Jeremiah's 70 years prophecy expired. Instead it would come their grandchildren and great grandchildren which would violate the principal of the Law of Moses that children pay the price for their parents and grandparents sins.

2-It says that the anointed one will come after 62 & 7 weeks but he is cut off after 62 weeks. How can the anointed one if it is one person come 49 years after he is cut off? This proves that it is two different people. If it is Jesus how could He come 49 years after he dies?

3-Not once in the bible did Jesus or any of the new testament writers ever claim that Jesus fulfilled any parts of the 70 weeks. This would not be missed and if it was Jesus it would prove who Jesus is to the Jews Especially in the book of Matthew. Thus Jesus is not either of the anointed ones in the prophecy of the 70 weeks.

One of the huge errors you make in your post is by assuming the 70 weeks prophecy of Daniel 9 involves Bible prophecies for Christ's Church when it is actually for Daniel's people and Jerusalem, per the Daniel 9:24.
I am well aware of who the prophecy was for and assumed nothing.

Daniels exiled people were promised a return to their land, and after 69 of those weeks the anointed Messiah would be revealed to his people.

25 So you are to know and understand that from the issuance of the command to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until [the coming of] the Messiah (the Anointed One), the Prince, there will be seven weeks [of years] and sixty-two weeks [of years];

Jesus the Messiah then accomplished complete redemption for his people and those who repented and believed were washed clean by his blood and given his Holy Spirit to preach to the whole world his saving grace under a New covenant.

Heb 9

12 He went once for all into the Holy Place [the Holy of Holies of heaven, into the presence of God], and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, having obtained and secured eternal redemption [that is, the salvation of all who personally believe in Him as Savior].

but now once for all at the consummation of the ages He has appeared and been publicly manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.

That is what the 70th week accomplished.

Jn 17
17 When Jesus had spoken these things, He raised His eyes to heaven [in prayer] and said, “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, so that Your Son may glorify You. 2 Just as You have given Him power and authority over all mankind, [now glorify Him] so that He may give eternal life to all whom You have given Him [to be His—permanently and forever]. 3 Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true [supreme and sovereign] God, and [in the same manner know] Jesus [as the] Christ whom You have sent. 4 I have glorified You [down here] on the earth by completing the work that You gave Me to do. 5 Now, Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory and majesty that I had with You before the world existed.

The 70th week is over as sin has been dealt with.

Heb 9 cont'
27 And just as it is appointed and destined for all men to die once and after this [comes certain] judgment, 28 so Christ, having been offered once and once for all to bear [as a burden] the sins of many, will appear a second time [when he returns to earth], not to deal with sin, but to bring salvation to those who are eagerly and confidently waiting for Him.

Can you tell me how you interpret this verse:

Daniel 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

This verse lists six things that had to be fulfilled within the 70 weeks. Are you saying that Christ's death was not necessary for any of these six things to be fulfilled? Are you suggesting that there's some other way for making reconciliation for iniquity besides the blood of Christ?
