Hopefully the Trump administration will clear this up soon.

You have people that seek peace and you have people that seek division.
I understand the message, however, I don't believe a government facility like the VA ahould have homosexuality as their focus.
If a veteran is seeking spiritual uplifting in times of depression, then laying more burdens on them seems kind of unkind to me.

My dad has home hospice. We have a chaplain from Ghana who comes and visits once a month.
We started getting into a conversation about illegal immigration. I said I didn't think it was right to expect people coming over the border to be considered only good enough to pick our fruit and work in slaughter houses. I said, not much different than having slaves pick your cotton.
He got a bit abrupt and said I shouldn't be talking about things I don't understand because I'm not black.
So I dropped that conversation like a hot potato. Not because we were in a disagreement about whether being brought over in chains versus being coerced with empty promises were the same thing, but rather I ended it for the sake of not arguing about it.

Some people just get offended for the sake of being offended. So if you know something is going to offend someone and it can be avoided, in my opinion it should be.
There is always a place and time that God will let a person know what it is he wants them to know. And pushing your ideology on someone doesn't always turn out in either persons best interest.

Most of these veterans come home from war torn countries and have seen things that I myself could only imagine. They seen friends killed and have even had to kill others themselves. They've seen poverty and despair. Bloodshed and destruction.
I think a chaplain could find other ways to "heal" his listeners than chiding them on their sexual preferences.

There are other churches and places of worship you can go and hear about all the sins of the world.
But the VA in my opinion should be for healing the broken hearted and not accusing them of sin.

James chapter 3.

The chaplain was simply preaching from Romans 1. I don't think the government should restrict which parts of the Bible he is allowed to preach.

I hear you Debp.
Would it be alright then if the chaplain was reading from the koran?

Separation of church and state. Government shall make no law regarding religion. That's the first amendment of the Constitution.
I'm not arguing the sermon, I'm arguing the facility that is being used. It is a government building.
And it would be "unlawful" for the government to interfere regardless of what book was being read from.
What if the sermon was about making sure your wives were wearing their hijabs?
Then the argument would be .....

Personally, If I didn't agree with the sermon whatever it may be, I would simply get up and leave.
But someone got offended and brought it to the attention of the managers of the "facility" .
Now it goes up to Secretary Collins who is asked to condone or condemn a certain verse from a certain religion in a government facility.
Do you see the conflict?

Better not to have religious functions in any government run facilities.
How would you seperate christians from jews from muslims which all use the same VA?

I'm not arguing the sermon, I'm arguing the facility it was preached in.
