Saw a WaPo article today. There was this papyrus discovered a long time ago, only no one thought it important because the penmanship was poor, so it just sat in archives. Two guys decided to translate it and it turns out it was probably a copy of one the chapters of the book Thomas. They think it was a writing exercise by a child in school.
The article didn’t go into a lot detail of what was written. It was reported that some of the writing was about Jesus as a child, maybe 5 years old, playing by a stream and molding clumps of mud into the shape sparrows. Joseph came out and scolded him for working on the sabbath. Then Jesus clapped and the sparrows came to life and flew away.
I thought that was so adorable.
