    Run AWAY from Calvinism!

That's someone who was born in Armenia. An Arminian on the other hand, follows the teaching of Jacob Arminias more or less.

    Run AWAY from Calvinism!

Faith comes from hearing. "Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ."

    Run AWAY from Calvinism!

So it's possible to be saved no matter who you are?

    Run AWAY from Calvinism!

    Direct contradictions don't bother you?

    Run AWAY from Calvinism!

Did you even read what you wrote? How could John's letters go out to only certain people? Many end up being wrong because they are trusting in their deeds to save them. The point is, John said we can know, you already said we can't.

    Run AWAY from Calvinism!

That's not biblical. The Apostle John, in his first Epistle, explains that he is writing to "you who believe in the Name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life."(1 John 5:13)

    Run AWAY from Calvinism!

Well for one thing it means we can never know if we are saved. For another, it means God is creating people for destruction, and that's not a Christ centered understanding of God. Christ died for all.

    John Calvin and Calvinism.

That's a great verse for Arminians. Not sure why you chose it? In Romans 1, Paul described God's reaction to the sinful unbelief of the Gentiles. He gave them up or turned them over to their own sinful desires (Romans 1:24, 26, 28). In a similar way, God hardened the Israelites after their...

    Run AWAY from Calvinism!

No, that's a straw man. Influences doesn't equal causes. If you are going to be deterministic, own it and quit dancing around it. Calvinism is deterministic when you really understand it. And so it's very similar to fate, which comes from paganism.

    Run AWAY from Calvinism!

Where did I ever affirm it?

    Run AWAY from Calvinism!

    A distinction without a difference.

    Run AWAY from Calvinism!

Which means no free will. Only in reality, we aren't slaves in the sense that we can't choose something else. If we were, saints could never, ever sin. And unsaved people could never do good. And of course Calvin said that God ordained everything which also makes free will only an illusion.

    Run AWAY from Calvinism!

This is a smokescreen for Calvinists. They say they don't deny free will but thier theology say that the will is never free.

    Run AWAY from Calvinism!

Yes, so if that's where he got it, it was not derived from scripture.
  15. R

    Run AWAY from Calvinism!

No, Calvin got it from Augustine. Prior to Augustine, the church universally confirmed free will.

    Run AWAY from Calvinism!

Ever watch the movie: " The adjustment bureau"? Sometimes I wonder if open theism is closer to the truth than Calvinism. Your version of God irresistibly choosing some for no reason sure doesn't sound like what I read in scripture. Maybe read something outside of a few verses picked from the...

    Run AWAY from Calvinism!

Only he's wrong. Calvinism teaches double election either by default or by God deliberately choosing most for hell... same thing, really.

    Run AWAY from Calvinism!

Lol, not if they aren't chosen. What kind of hope is that anyway? Do you hope to be saved but don't care about all the people that aren't given your hope? Paul said he could almost wish himself damned to save the Jews. Was Paul more merciful than God?
  19. R

    Run AWAY from Calvinism!

You don't see the problem here? It's not about me.. it's about all those people who would desperately love some hope, but in your theology, God hates them for no discernable reason, and has chosen to create them solely for damnation. And the fatalism you are teaching comes from paganism.

    Run AWAY from Calvinism!

Then there's a good chance you aren't saved.
