Well now you are conflating being against gay marriage to actively stopping them.
Nope. I'm against worshipping Allah, but I don't ask government to prevent it.

Well now you are conflating being against gay marriage to actively stopping them.
And you are incoorect in saying that the unsaved have free will. They are all ensalved to sin, even if they appear to act "good". As it is written in Romans, that those in the flesh (human nature) cannot please god". an unsaved person can do nothing to please God for they have no spiritual nature. As Paul said in Ephesians they are dead in their trespasses and sins.
Do you want to use government to force non-believers to abstain from pre-marital sex, getting drunk, getting fat, engaging in homosexuality, worshiping Allah, etc.? I don't. What is the biblical basis for Christians to establish a totalitarian theocracy on the entire world?
Not true since a real high percentage of homosexuals were victims of sexual abuse as children. Maybe you should do your homework on the subject.Murder, bestiality, abortion, pedophilia, etc., are different than homosexuality in that they involve the victimization of an involuntary, innocent person. Not analogous.
horrible but its the truth in most every case of a homosexual as a child being abused sexually which is the CAUSE for the their sexual identity.Wow, that's a horrible story.
Maybe you should do your homework on the subject.
ok sorry about that.No need to be impolite. I have not been impolite with you.
Not sure if you saw my post before (maybe you responded and I just missed it), but I think the crux of the argument here is this:
You are apparently making the argument that government cannot change men's hearts, so morality should not be mandated, and Christians should not attempt to adopt a "totalitarian theocracy." But my question was, do you not see a good purpose for stemming the tide of moral decay through law, before society turns into a "democratic" cesspool of immorality and even depravity, by public consent?
ok sorry about that.
Make me emperor, that's the first thing I'll do! Fed and state!I believe the federal Department of Education should be eliminated.
But your position seems to suggest that by law they should be allowed to consent, if they so wished to.
...suppose that a society grew so depraved in the future that it endorsed all manner of immoral sexual practices. Would you still favor there not being laws passed to prohibit them?
Make me emperor, that's the first thing I'll do! Fed and state!![]()
Government is terrible at just about everything. I don't want government to try and "change hearts". I oppose my tax dollars being used to fund another's mortgage and/or college education. I believe the federal Department of Education should be eliminated. There is MASSIVE waste, incompetence and outright fraud perpetuated on the federal level. I certainly disagree with tax dollar being used to pay for someone's gender transition. And, as I have said here previously, I believe state governments should get OUT of the marriage business. People can get "married" privately. Courts can enforce marriage contracts just like they enforce other contracts.
I wish the U.S. was mostly like Little House on the Prairie wherein 99% were good Christian members of society that all set positive examples for children and where children respected their elders and other people's property, etc. Unfortunately, we're going in the other direction.
God does not FORCE us to follow him. We should not FORCE others to follow him either. The Christian in me says that people shouldn't engage in certain behaviors. The civil libertarian in me says that people should be free from me to make those choices.
And please keep this in mind. If you believe it is the role of government to implement Christian standards on society, what happens if/when Islam becomes the majority religion? Would you want government to impose Islam upon you and your family? I don't want government involved in those types of things and, I presume, neither do you.
There are events in San Francisco wherein men openly masturbate in the streets while people watch. I disagree with such behavior and I disagree that it should be legal. The basis of my position is that I do NOT want to have to look at that while I'm walking down the street.
There are also private sex clubs where people go to have sex with others and/or to watch others. As that is done in private, I do not oppose the legality of the practice.
...they are training our children to endorse them.
The more private sex clubs a city allows, the more the things that go on there will be considered "acceptable" in modern society, and the more they are considered acceptable the more it will eventually spill out into the streets.
...but this answer suggests you think society should be left completely free to do as it pleases without any outside interference or governance in matters of morality.
